In july 2001. A homeless man was found brutally murdered. An 18 year old was convicted of the crime. Despite their being no witnesses. Or physical evidence tying her to the scene. Fox 5s Cyndi Lundberg has more on our investigation. Guilty until proven innocent. Kirstin Blaise Lobato was convicted of the crime. And for nearly 15 years. Shes maintained her innocence. We do want to warn our viewers. Some of the details of this story are very graphic. Duran bailey was found mutilated. And had his penis cut off. Lobato became tied into the crime after telling friends about a Sexual Assault in which she said she tried to stab a mans groin. Bailey was found murdered in july. Lobatos attack happened miles however maintained it was the same event. Dozens of people placed her more than 170 miles away during the murder. There was pubic hair. Semen. Cigarette butts gum. And bloody footprints that all exclude lobato as the murderer. One of lobatos main supporters is a former fbi agent with 25 Years Experience who says police got the wrong person. At the crime scene the body was covered by boxes and guess what was on those boxes footrpitns in the victims blood. Male footprints. There were also cigrette buts on top of the body which means it wasnt him he was alrady dead. Theres going to be saliva on those theres going to be dna and we begged them to test the dna and they wouldnt lobatos defense has pushed clark county to test vital pieces of dna from this case. And have been denied. Lobato has sat at the Florence Mclure female prison in las vegas since 2002 for a crime she says she didnt commit. its something i tr not to think about or address at all because its too overwhelming nearly 15 years later prosecutors have never been able to the crime scene. And theres significant evidnece a man was there. Fox 5 used a private investigator to follow leads and looked at other suspects who could have committed this crime that police ignored. Witnesses say the driver of a white van hit the girl and later took off.
