a lot of regulars here tonight... they tell me anytime a sports championship like the world series is on.... it makes the experience at the sports book even more exciting. sot: g series great teams it's exciting baseball fans hanging out at sports books across the valley for game 2 of the world series. while some came out just to catch all the action on the big screens... sot: "i didn't gamble on them i'm not much of a gambler i just want to see a good series" most hope that a good series also means good bets. they're putting some money down team... at least favorite team for the night sot: "today it's cleveland.. tomorrow it could be chicago" at south point sports book fans say win or lose it's an exciting series and there's no where else they'd rather watch it. sot: it's a nice gathering and it's a nice getaway" sot: chuck esposito is a sports book manager at sunset station casino. he says the world series games are a home run for his businesses. sot: the atmosphere has been unbelievable almost like that big game they play in february. a lot of excitement a lot of cheering people hooting and hollering in the book the hype has been amazing. esposito says the match up between the cubs and indians is competitive and unpredictable. sot: we're seeing good 2 way action in this series the indians were 25 to 1 to win before the season started to where the cubs were the favorite so both teams you've seen fan bases that are tremendous and have had long droughts. and the advice from these sports book regulars on betting on the world series? do some homework and don't be afraid to take a chance. sot: "do a little research. baseball it's all pitching" sot : "take your shot.. anything can happen" closed captioning will resume shortly the world series is now tied... one to one. game three of the world series is this friday in wrigley field. you can watch it right here on fox five. it starts at five p-m. we will have a special edition show before and after the game. las vegas is professional team -- the n-h-l team set to drop the puck on its inaugural season next year. but -- now we know about efforts to court an n-b-a team to las vegas. during an interview set to air on radio station "k-n-p-r"... m-g-m resorts international c- e-o jim murren said he's actively pursuing an n-b-a team to relocate here. however -- he did not say which team he's looking into. murren is a partner in the t- mobile arena... which opened back in april. the arena will be home to the new n-h-l franchise. he did not say if the n-b-a team as well. fox five reached out to m-g-m... a spokesperson told us murren is not available to talk about it on camera. this comes just a few weeks after the state approved a nearly two billion dollar n-f-l stadium. fair weather clouds across southern nevada today. high temperatures are trending above average for this time of year with low 80s around the las vegas valley. skies remain partly cloudy overnight with low temperatures in the 60s. clouds will continue to increase on thursday as a system off the pacific approaches our area. we'll keep it dry on thursday with partly to mostly cloudy skies; high temperatures hold in the mid to low 80s. showers will move into the area on friday, with the best chance during the afternoon hours. it will also turn to 30 mph. saturday will feature more sunshine before another system brings more clouds and gusty winds on sunday. wind gusts up to 40 mph are forecast with the chance of a few showers; mainly over our local mountains and for areas north of the las vegas valley. winds calm down for halloween night with temperatures in the 60s for trick-or- treating. you'll notice some major detours on your commute.... as project neon continues construction at this particular phase is called... "we're giving them these pumpkins, you can't see right now, that flash, but they flash and they strobe so you can see them. and remind the kids to say thank you when they get candy (pumpkin says something) as you see. the blinking baskets can be seen up to a hundred yards away. law enforcement is giving out 13- hundred of them at events before the holiday. kids at university medical center will get into the halloween spirit thanks to kindergarteners from the meadows school. this morning students dropped off 30 painted pumpkins for the young patients. the pumpkins are given to kids who have to skip out on halloween because of an illness. they were also treated to a song and dance performed by the students. it's a school tradition that's been going on for the last 20 years. a local food pantry got a major makeover... allowing more famlies to get the food and help they need. (all say 1,2,3, catholic charities! and then cut ribbon, applause) catholic charities expanion of the "hands of hope" community food pantry with a ribbon cutting ceremony hundreds of volunteers served up 12- hundred meals. the expansion means the charity can serve 33- percent more families than they do now. "it helps a tremendous amount especially like with the baby and the kids and coming here, even during the holidays, thanksgiving, christmas, it's definitely beneficial to my family catholic charities serves more than a hundred people every day... and between 3 and 4 thousand people a month. they are also collecting turkeys for thanksgiving... and hope to give away four thousand turkeys this season. coming up... a woman shot to death on the sidewalk... and the suspect is still out there. we hear from a witness about what he saw before the shots were fired... and what type of car police say the suspect may have driven away in. and... donald trump mixes business with the campaign trail. international hotel" officially opened its doors near the white house. why the republican nominee says it's an example of what he could do for the country. plus... what was supposed to be a lesson on wasteful spending... turns out be a life-changer for one couple! how much money a man won buying a lottery ticket... after his wife told him not to. i served under president bush and obama. i fought the taliban. i was asked to form a global coalition to counter isil. when someone makes the comment that they know more about the islamic state or isil than do the generals, it implies a complete ignorance of the reality. but i believe secretary clinton really understands the threat and i believe she understands how to wield american power to ultimately defeat this threat and to keep us safe. i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message. we've learned a lot about how joe heck works. follow the money. he called nevada's foreclosure crisis a "blip" and took almost $700,000 from wall street, including some of the same banks who caused the crisis. and then there's money he's taken from payday lenders who charge 521% interest. heck co-sponsored legislation atory practices. add it all up, and joe heck is working for corporate special interests. and that doesn't work for nevada. senate majority pac is responsible for the content of this adve we've got a choice to make. jacky rosen wants to build an economy that works for all of us, creating good jobs, expanding solar energy, and improving our schools. but with danny tarkanian, you can't escape the sleaze. used to scam nevada seniors. danny tarkanian's out for himself. dccc is responsible someon shot and a woman in a west las vegas neighborhood this morning. police tell us her killer may have taken off in a gray four door car. fox 5's abby theodros talked with a man who was there moments after the the woman was shot in the head. the marking of one of the bullets still visible on this wall. the man who called 9-11 says that woman's lifeless body is a sight he'll never forget." charlie carlisi: "that looks like the shoulder, that looks like the head, and thats where all the blood went." all thats left is a stain on the side walk - but what happened is seared in charlie carlisi's memory charlie carlisi: "maybe mid twenties, laying in a puddle of blood. she was shot right behind the ear. and she wasnt moving." carlisi heard two gun shots just before one this morning and stepped outside to see what happened. carlisi: i went back to the house and got my phone. and called 9-11 and then i came over to see if she was breathing or moving. abby: so it happened right here? carlisi: yeah - this is where it happened. police say a woman in her twenties - was shot to death- laying in a puddle of her own blood. police say it could have been domestic related. her killer- could have taken off in a gray four door car. lt dan mcgrath; leaving, right after the gun shots. people hear the gun shots - they look out and see a car. so we can associate the car was passing through the area. maybe it was a witness or the car could be involved. carlisi says he never saw that car but it doesnt change what happened charlie carlisi: its concerning especially when you dont know what happened - is it a domestic thing or is it a random thing? "this is metro's 140th homicide this year. abby theodros fox5news local las vegas." if you have information that can help police solve this murder, call crimestoppers at 703-385-55-55. the suspect in a brutal murder in oklahoma is still on the loose. police say micha vance killed his aunt and uncle... shot two police officers... stole a patrol car... and then took to facebook live during his escape to talk about the crimes. "you knew this would happen, i would get my guns, i would come, you're just lucky it went down this way..." during the manhunt -- reports that vance was headed to las vegas started to make their way around social media... but metro police and the fbi's office here in las vegas tell fox5 those rumors are not true... and there is no evidence vance is police say anywhere from two to six people were involved in a shooting this afternoon at an apartment complex. it happened on east karen avenue and south van patten street, just north of the las vegas country club. people who live there said they heard at least six shots... and that there have been several other shootings in the area before. at this point police said they don't know if the suspects were shooting at each other. they're still investigating and don't have any suspect information. uhmmm... there's some shootings every now and again. yeah. there is. i've got an 8 month old child, she's not out playing yet, but you know. it's definitely alarming. yeah it is. police said multiple witnesses stayed on scene to give statements to investigators. so far, nobody has been reported injured in the shooting. some members of the california national guard will not have to pay back re- enlistment bonuses for now. u-s defense secretary ash carter suspended "all efforts to collect reimbursements". the bonuses were awarded to the soldiers ten years and they were asked to pay them back. the california national guard says these soliders should not have received these bonuses... some as much as 15-thousand dollars. the government says many of the soldiers did not know they weren't eligable for the money. carter didn't outline specifics... but said the pentagon hopes to resolve all cases no later than july first of next year. vice president joe biden will campaign for hillary clinton in the silver state this weekend he'll make a push for early voting in reno and las vegas on saturday. in-person voting ends on friday november fourt first -- biden will stop at the southwest regional council of carpenters -- near sunset and valley view. the event starts at eleven in the morning. and house speaker paul ryan will also be in town on saturday -- to campaign for congressman cresent hardy. he will speak to supporters at the pearson community center at 11:30 a-m. that's near carey and m-l-k. ryan and hardy will then go door to door to encourage people to get out and vote. donald trump took a break from the campaign hotel in the nation's capital. after two years of renovations... the trump international hotel officially opened in washington d-c. it's just four blocks from the white house. the republican nominee and his family were on- hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. trump says the hotel's success is the same type of success he can create as the country's president.
