Today Highway Patrol held a press conference where they showed us dash cam video and surveillence video that shows trooper david dudley shoot and kill 28yearold javier munoz after a car jacking. High speed chase. And then another attempted car jacking. Fox5s Kathleen Jacob joins us live from the dealership where this happened. Kathleen. What do we know about the man that was guys. We know javier munoz was from glendale, arizona. And police think he was only in vegas for two days. He had a lengthy criminal history that included robbery, kidnapping, running from police, and violating parole. Hed only been out of the prison system since last december. Police dont know what he was doing in las vegas. But they say its clear he was waiting for his next victim. Munoz screaming thats javier munoz screaming what sounds like im dead. After trooper david dudley shot him once in the abdomen. nats of him screaming as they pull him from car but lets back up. rewind video of chase it all started here at the am pm on fremont around 7 15 in the morning. You can see munoz run up to this toyota, punch a woman in the head, th the car. And then quickly reverse. As he does this. The woman is dragged and actually run over by the car before munoz speeds away. nats sirens troopers then chase munoz for around 12 minutes. As he weaves through traffic and even jumps a median. Before he pulls into this cadilac dealership. You see him throw an elderly man from this suv and then jump in. nats screamingtroope r screaming ill have a gun. But when asked about a Deadly Weapon. Absolutely, that vehicle is a 45 hundred pound Deadly Weapon, especially when drove in a reckless manner and in total disregard for the safety of the public around them. Munoz was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he died the next morning. We also asked how dangerous that 12 minute chase shooting was to the public. And Highway Patrol told us it was very dangerous but the trooper is actually an Emergency VehicleOperation Course instructor and did everything pretty much textbook.
