" when the dust settled we found there was only one person seriously injured, we found they were actually deceased." the las vegas fire department had a crew sti the area, they responded to the scene almost immediately... " actually when they got in there they said the dust was still out in the air from falling" but according to tim szymanski, it was already too late... while two of the workers on the scaffolding managed to jump to safety... one of the men was not able to get off in time. " this person was not able to escape and the scaffolding fell with him, any fall above 12 feet can cause substantial injuries to a human being, and three stories is serious injuries and be fatal " tivoli village sent the rest of the construction crews home early after the tragedy. they released a statement saying they are shocked and saddened by the tragedy they said out of respect for the victim and those investigating, all construction activity on the site has ceased and will only continue when it is deemed safe to do so. they're now cooperating with police fire and osha during the investigation the di attorney says the shooting of an unarmed man on new year's eve-- was justifed. but the family of 23-year-old keith childress childress-- says they still have questions. police say childress was wanted by us marshals. marshals tried to make an arrest -- but say childress took off. they called metro for backup, telling officers that childress was wanted for attempted murder. but that was wrong -- childress was actually facing burglary and kidnapping charges after a home invasion in arizona. he ignored police comands.. they mistook his cell " why? that just my only question. why. it never had to go down like this. why did this happen. there was no reason for it, absolutely no reason for it."
