"i noticed the explosion out of the corner of my eye something you don't see everyday and then within five seconds i noticed in the rear view mirror the lights went out downtown and the entire casinos went dark. "it was almost like a scene from a movie." the american red cross, clark county office of emergency management, lauglhin officials community working together fire and outage. fire crews are also working a fire here-- near the south point take a live look. the fire broke out just before nine at silverado ranch and las vegas boulevard. abandoned home... they say someone started the fire to keep warm... the area does not have fire hydrant coverage... so they are letting it burn... while they shuttle water in. a fire fighter was injured while battling the blaze... the severity of the injuries are not known at this time. a 12 year old boy shot and killed himself... now his father is facing charges. police say the child shot himself on february 13. on the 17th... his father, olin manuel was arrested. metro's child abuse and negelct detail found the gun found at the house belonged to manuel. another local father who's daughter was killed when a gun accidentally went off inside a friend's home... back in 2013... says responsiblility to make sure guns are locked away. "there's gun safes where you can still have very quick access to a fire arm without sacrificing the safety of a child and if you in my eyes then your responsible for the child with what happens with that firearm." we reached out to the manuel family earlier today... they are on their way to the child's funeral in arizona and they say the gun did not belong to manuel, police are still investigating. north las vegas police send a serious message to parents and caretakers... after an infant is killed and another left with permanent brain damage in two separate child abuse cases. "if you are watching over a child you find yourself frustrated angry mad for whatever reason take a timeout go somewhere else go in another room count to 10 call someone avenues you can take so situation doesn't escalate." police say cynthia lavender was two weeks ago. she told detectives she threw the infant at a wall... and dropped him on the tile floor because she was frustrated with him. that child died at u-m-c. in the other case -- police say an unlicensed caretaker named alejandra robles threw a seventh- month-old boy in the crib out of frustration. that infant was left with brain damage. both suspects were arrested this week. lavender faces murder and child abuse charges. robles is charged with child abuse. a fight in a strip parking garage ends in gun fire... now two people are dead and third person is hospitalized... now police are searching for the person responsible. it started with an argument in the planet hollywood parking garage... then shots were fired from a car-- into another near alderbaran and harmon. and then it ended in the valet at the cosmopolitan. a man-- who asked to not be identiifed- says he heard shots around 1:30 this morning... saw police hovering over a body of a woman on the road-- just off the strip-- who was then put in an ambulance and taken to umc. " i watched them evaluate the crime scene basically. it looked to me like they were searching for bullet casings. they had the area marked where the body was on the road. they cleaned up the crime scene quickly. i'd say within a half an hour " one of the cars involved in the shooting... then pulled into the valet at the a man and woman been shot... police are asking for help in black male in his mid 20's driving a 2015 toyota camry is connected to this incident. if you have any information to help police solve this case you can call crime stoppers at 702 385-55-55 two suspects are arrested after an to a swat standoff. officers responded to the call around six this morning on martin hall drive -- near cheyenne and fort apache. police say a woman escaped after being held against her will... and asked a neighbor for help. officers learned the suspects may have been at another home a few miles away near rainbow. that's where one of them was caught. police say the other suspect was jumping fences and running through yards. "everyone was shocked they couldnt believe it." "didnt tell us anything." visitors say lights were out on the whole floor except the sports book. are all operating off of generators... more than five thousand people are without power. clark county fire says no one is injured. the general manager from the tropicana laughlin told our crews out there... that the generators are working inside. its powering one elevator and some slot machines are working. we talked to a man who was on casino row... and describes what he saw. i was just walking out of the aquarious casino just had dinner. walking back to car... casino parking structrure... while" we will have more-- live from laughlin at 11 fire crews are also working a fire here-- near the saying a child had been shot. that boy later died at the hospital. police says the injuries were self-inflicted, and the gun belonged to the boy's father, olin manuel. we spoke to the parents of a girl who was killed while playing with a gun... who are actively working to prevent more gun tragedies from happening. "are their any unsecured firearms children can potentionally access? that is the one question jake and i did not ask. that is how we lost brooklyn.
