happened and then people take off running. blast appears to have come from a construction toolbox on west 23rd street in front of the residence for the blind. it is a busy area with many restaurants and grocery store nearby. it appears only one of the injured suffered serious injuries and the rest of to terrorism but he does play that was intentional.>> there is no specific and credible threat against new york city at this point in time from any terror organization. whatever the cause or intention here, new yorkers will not be intimidated. we will not let anyone change who we are or how we attached to wires and a cell phone. police to that device to a safe area. officials do not think the explosion and chelsea was related to this one in new jersey saturday morning. there was an explosion in a garbage can on the roof of a marine corps charity run. the when he was hurt and officials aren't sure yet if this is linked to terrorism. that is under investigation. the fbi has taken crash that killed two teachers from northern colorado and hurt truck this morning, we learned much morning about couple who died in the crash. they were parents of a toddler and both were teachers. genevieve summerville taught science at fort collins high school. gerrit summerville worked at loma high school. state troopers say they were in their suv headed south on the highway near us 30 for friday night when their vehicle went off the road. officers say for some reason, the car ve overcorrected and that caused the vehicle to roll almost 2 full times before came to a rest on its side. they were not wearing seatbelts and were thrown from suv. their young daughter was in a car seat and survived. schools have notified staff and sent an email to families. they will have counselors and mental health staff at the school tomorrow to support students and staff. peak charter school. the cocaptain of the cross country team collapsed and died on the track on friday. his fellow students and teammates are mourning the death of 18-year-old. the school announced his death on its facebook page and asked students to gather at the truck on saturday to remember him. they will have counselors at the school tomorrow. a 16-year-old girl and fortune beat cancer only to die in a senseless shooting. her family and friends have identified her as haley vargas. police found her lying in the way before 2 am saturday. investigators say a man leaving the party pulled the trigger and drove off. as this investigation continues, family and friends remember vargas as a creative and energetic girl. she had a promising future and beat cancer several years ago. >> she was one of those people that was always happy and smiling all the time. >> no one deserves it. out of everybody, why did it >> her family wants her to direct -- remembered as more than a homicide victim. the suspect is a hispanic man's in his early 20s with the skinny build and our care. we are told he may be person and injuring five others including two police officers. nicholas glenn had a lengthy criminal record. investigators found a note at the scene indicating his hatred for police. late last friday, glenn use a 9 mm gun to shoot an officer who was sitting in her patrol car. he shot people outside bars and he also shot into a car. a woman inside the car was killed. he was shot to death after 7:09 desperately needed to bring aid and food to people in the region. the u.n. aid trucks have been the border crossing for several days now. the syrian government hasn't provided the proper clearance for those trucks. the trucks need to get to aleppo which has been rocked by fighting in recent months. a cease-fire went into effect last month. even so fighting have erupted near damascus. the conflict displaced half the country's population since march of 2011. a cyclist was killed during a road race at the rio paralympics 48-year-old iranian man crashed on a mountainous stretch of the road cycling course. he suffered a cardiac arrest and died at the hospital. olympic officials are still reviewing that crash. at least eight people have been stabbed in a knife rampage at a mall in st. cloud, minnesota. and authorities now say the suspected attacker made references to allah. the suspect was shot and killed last night during the attack by an off-duty police officer at the crossroads center. police say the suspect entered the mall and began threatening references to allah, officials say the man also asked one person if they were muslim before assaulting them. all the victims are expected 9news' own colleen ferrara was telling me about and in my opinion, it ended up nothing short of amazing. to make this galoreious, not healthy for you treat, a 16- ounce tube of butter milk biscuits, dried oregano, dried parsley flakes, salt, graded parmesan and a block mozzarella cheese. first up cut up your mozzarella. 10 biscuits come in one premade package so you will need to cut up at least 10 cubes of mozzarella. next open up your package of bis kit and flatten -- biscuit and flatten each out. don't have any holes in the dough. place a cube of mozzarella into the middle of your disk and then pinch the edges of the mozzarella inside. as you work, place each piece of cheese filled dough onto a nonstick cookie sheet. now it's time to mix-up the toppings. melt a quarter cup or half a stick of butter. add three quarters of a teaspoon of garlic powder, half a flakes, half a teaspoon of dried oregano, a quarter teaspoon of salt and 2 tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese and mix it together well. i used a basting brush with this part because it makes it supereasy to put the mixture on the cheesy doughy goodness. speaking of, time to brush a thin layer of this mixture onto each dough ball. 400-degree oven for about eight to 10 minutes. you will be able to tell these cheesy pooches are finished -- poofs are finished when they turn golden brown. set them aside for a couple of minutes and then apply the rest of your garlic butter mixture. yum! of course we will have all the instructions for this recipe and more on our web page, just head on this. >> cheesy garlic poofs. >> another device. investigators say that device appears to be a pressure cooker attached to wires and a cell phone. police were able to take it to a safe location. >> officials don't think the explosion in chelsea was related to this one in new jersey garbage can on the route of a marine corps charity run. nobody was hurt. officials aren't sure if this attack is linked to terrorism yet. the fbi has his name may not be on the ballot this year but the issues are still very important to the black community. this morning we're learning more about a deadly crash that killed two teachers and injured their child in loveland. >> good morning. this morning we have learned much more about the couple who died in they were parents of a toddler and both were teachers. genevieve sommervold taught science at fort collins high school. they were headed south on u.s. 34 friday night when their vehicle went off the road. officers say for some reason their car veered off the right side of the road. the driver overcorrected. and that caused the vehicle to roll almost two full times before it came to a rest on its their young daughter was in a car seat and survived. porter valley school says they've notified staff at fort collins high school and sent an e-mail to families. they'll also have counselors and mental health staff at the school tomorrow to support students and staff who need it. brandon ries just started his senior year at the peak to peak charter school. the co-captain of the cross country team collapsed his fellow students and teammates are now mourning the death of the 18-year-old. it announced it on the facebook page. they will have counselors at the school tomorrow. a 16-year-old girl in thornton beat cancer only to die in a senseless shooting. her friends and family have identified her to 9news as haley vargas. there was a house party there. and energetic girl with a promising future. >> just one of those kind of people who were just like always happy and smiling all the time no matter what. no one deserves it. but out of everybody, why did it have to be her? >> someone who was leaving this party fired shots and then drove off. police describe the suspect as a hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s, about 5'6" with dark hair. nose ring and glasses too. also possible he left in a red sedan. if you know anything you're asked to call denver crime stoppers. this weekend thousands took at city park in denver. association held its annual walk to end the disease yesterday morning. funds raised go toward research, counseling, and a 24-hour help line in colorado. a lot of broncos fans and family members of pat bowlen were out there to support the team walked with caretakers and friends who provide crucial support to people with the what is this? >> it's a brandywine, partial shade. gorgeous thing. you can see it's going to get gorgeous red leaves as the fall progresses. if you want to do a rose, however, this is my favorite shrubs. if you want to do a rose, however, they have really wimpy root systems and you need to plant them like right now. all the trees and shrubs, anything you plant in the ground, make sure you make a te a big heavy mote. make this mote so the root balls say moist and then you may have to winter water as well. depends on conditions. >> that's the crucial step. >> we're planting for spring in terms of roses? >> the season isn't over. we're just starting a new one. in the meantime imagine your front porch or your patio, imagine this gorgeous pair of mums on either side of your front door. make sure you buy them about in of buds rather than waiting for them to be completely open. that way you'll have a much longer season. >> looks about 50/50 right now. >> exactly. don't forget you can [ laughter ] le ski area. it's beautiful up there right now. just a few clouds over the mountains. and the temperatures this afternoon in the high country are going to be in the 70s and 60s. western slope, 85. lower elevations temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s. going to be toastier to the south and southeast. 90s for pueblo and lamar. right now we're in the 60s and in the 50s. 50 for fort collins. 55 for ray. in the mountain communities 40s. our friends on the western slope are already pretty mild for this time of day. 52 degrees. western half of the country is going to stay dry. no threat for any thunderstorms and certainly not any severe weather. it's the eastern half of the country that could see showers and thunderstorms. that dry weather contributing to some high fire danger. you'll see most of the high country is shaded in this yellow color. but it's only northern colorado that will be under a red flag warning. that starts at 11 a.m., lasts through 7 p.m. the gusts in color could get up to 40 miles per hour. i'm going to take you through the futurecast. we might have a few showers develop over the hills. 1:30, we're dry across the state. tonight, skies are mostly clear. tomorrow morning we're waking up to sunshine. winds during the day could be gusty at times. same goes for the mountains and in the foothills. this afternoon i don't think those winds are going to be an issue for the game. you'll have to dress for summer if you're headed in that temperatures at 83 degrees. tonight temperatures will drop to 54. skies will be clear and tomorrow a high of 88 degrees so that summer weather is going to hold on just a little bit more and then by the end of the week we'll have the official start of fall and a cool-down to usher it in. >> thank you so much. a possible mistake is threatening the already u.s. and russian brokered cease fire on been killed by air strikes and the u.s. military says it may have unintentionally done it while conducting air strikes against isis. the syrian military says the air strike hit a base in an eastern city surrounded by the islamic state. officials claim four u.s. strikes. u.s. officials have not confirmed any of those claims but they say strikes were immediately stopped when they learned military members may have been hit. paralympics this weekend. 48-year-old iranian man crashed on a stretch of the cycling course. he suffered a cardiac arrest and died at the hospital. olympic officials are still reviewing this crash. at least eight people have been stabbed in a knife rampage at a mall in st. cloud, minnesota. the suspected attacker made references to allah. the suspect was shot and killed last night during the attack by an off duty police officer at crossroads center. the suspect began threatening people in addition to making references to allah, officials say the officials also say the man asked one if he was muslim. the vietnam memorial is in colorado for one more day. it's talking about donald trump. are you? >> it's not just donald trump. there's a sense that the only way you can move the electorate of them, appeal not to their better angels. i don't think that strategy works. we'll soon find out. but it's been put in to effect fairly well. >> you don't think it will work in november. it's obviously worked to some degree. >> yeah, but look. my grand pop used to have an expression. he used to say joey, people don't really make up their mind until after the world series. i'm not sure it's that late but if you notice, retrospect, voters have made up their mind later and later. i don't think the voters have really, really focused yet. they're beginning to but i don't think they have yet. >> the donald trump campaign put out a statement which seemed to acknowledge that the president was in fact born in the united states of america. >> all right. >> yeah, here we are, two months >> oh, god. how can you comment on some of the things donald trump says? i've kind of given up. i don't have any comment on it. >> trump himself didn't say it. i could read you the statement if you'd like. the campaign says in 2011 trump was able to bring this ugly incident to its conclusion by successfully compelling president obama to release his birth certificate. the president and the country by bringing closure to the issue hillary clinton and her team first raised. we can talk about fact checking of that statement. >> he's a great patriot for doing that. he deserves a lot of credit. come on. [ laughter ] i've given up trying to comment on some of the bizarre things we'll see what happens. >> i was going to save this toward the end of the interview but if i had to make you describe this presidential race in five words or less? >> competence and incompetence. we've got a competent candidate. they've got an incompetent candidate. >> also making news today, hillary clinton said he wouldn't commit to keeping merrick garland as her appointment to the supreme court if the senate doesn't act on that beforehand. how do you t would it be better if hillary clinton got to go back to the drawing board and pick perhaps a more liberal appointee? >> i happen to think -- i know merrick garland very well. used to be the chairman of the judiciary committee. i think he's a first rate nominee. i think when the nation is divided and the court is divided the president should be cognizant of that division and appoint someone who everyone governor john hickenlooper here in colorado. on the subject of obama care, he said obviously things are not working the way they are. obviously it's not working the way it is. this is a signature obviously of the obama administration. what is the future of it hold? >> i think the future is very, very good. we've said from the beginning we are ready with the congress to make it better but the republicans haven't been serious could make in obama care but obama care is going to survive. healthcare is here to stay. >> despite some of the headlines of carriers dropping out? >> despite some of the headlines of carriers dropping out. on balance we've cut the rate of uninsured significantly. healthcare costs have had the slowest increase in history. and one of the reasons we wrote of deficits was healthcare costs to the federal government. so does it need to be fine tuned? yes, the president thinks that too. >> the vice president, being described as a bucket of warm spit. i've always wanted to ask the vice president, is there a kernel of truth to that old adsnj ad -- adage? >> there's no power in the vice vice presidency other than to decide. it depends how much authority and everyone knows he bestows on him. i've had a great partnership with the president where he's given me major assignments. democrat or republican, whoever the next president is, there's so much the president has to deal with. there's a need to have someone who can take a significant portion of that responsibility agreement i had with the president in the beginning, said do you have any conditions? >> i guess recent history would lead me to believe not so well. colts have kind of had their number. >> i think the one thing you've got now history is you have wade phillips coaching this defense with demarcus ware and von miller on the edge going after andrew luck at the mile high city. so i think all those things combined is maybe one thing that hasn't been part of this city. wade phillips has dialed up the items rush against the quarterbacks. that's been big. but i think the key to this game today is the offense has to simian and this offense that's not built to do that but the colts are so decimated on defense with injuries and terrible against detroit lions. andrew luck is a tough match-up problem with those fast receivers for the denver defense. i think it's incumbent on the offense to pick up the slack today. >> you're saying andrew luck is going to get his points. >> i think andrew luck will get his points. ty hilton is a tough both aqib talib and chris harris. dorsett is a really good receiver. andrew luck is tough for ware and miller to bring down. von miller says he's never brought down andrew luck. ware has brought him down two and a half times. he is one of the quarterbacks that tends to be a tough match-up for the denver defense. on offense, trevor simian and the guys and c.j. a 31 to 34 type of game. >> 21 points last week for the offense. so they've got to be better. >> a lot better. maybe they do open it up a little bit more but this defense of the colts is not near as good as the defense of the carolina panthers. >> yeah. absolutely. they've got an opportunity to improve for sure. broncos and colts are a 2:25 kick-off this afternoon. we'll have much, much more coming up on game day live in just a few minutes. >> should be a final forecast. hey, belen. >> it's going to be toasty in those stands. temperatures will be in the 80s around kick-off. also remember we have high fire danger across colorado. red flag warning in effect for northern colorado that goes in to effect at 11 a.m. oh, and summer just does not want to go away but eventually our temperatures will cool down toward the end of the week. >> have a great sunday. if you're looking for neat press, we're airing right now on channel 20. their symbol is a horseshoe, and their quarterback is named luck?
