We should be closer to 44 degrees this time of the year. Highs could be in the upper 50s and we could see 60s in the downtown area. This afternoon its a mild start as well. Weve got 40s on the map 36 for fort collins, 35 in the metro area where our overnight low will be in the teens. We wont complain about the temperatures in the overnight hours. It will turn colder in the next days to many co. A mix of clouds and sun in the metro area. Well have a cold front dropping in this afternoon. Pickping up the winds increasing the clouds and bringing a chance of rain and snow. Thats the first part of the storm, the second part arrives sunday evening into monday and thats when we could really see the effects of winter here on the front range. It will turn colder, windy and well see the chance for rain and snow. That is the first storm that will be moving through. The second one that arrives sunday night into monday and tuesday will bring us a better chance of snow on the front range, much colder temperatures and a better chance for accumulating snow. The snow started in the high country yesterday evening. Take a look at breck enridge, visibility is low out there. It looks like some of those the snow right there on the trail. Now, as we go throughout the day, that snow will increase even more north and central mountains, look whats headed in our direction. Thats the first round of the snowstorm. Accumulation in the high country in some spots could be close to a foot of snow. That drive along i70 will be a difficult i70 will be a difficult one. Heavy snow at times, possibly up to 2 inches per hour and you add wind gusts up to 60 Miles Per Hour. It wont be fun to drivement make sure you have the winter survival kit ready if youre going into the mountain. In the mountains well have a Winter Weather advisory that will start at 6 00 p. M. And it will make its way to the southern mountains and last until noon on friday. Wolf creek pass, ive been through that one. It could be a scary one. Well see stronger winds, an avalanche watch will be in effect for the northern mountains in the Steamboat Springs area. Keep it in mind, when you like to do the back country travel. Its warm ner the 60 and 70s, heres that snow, this is the first round of this storm system that will bring snow to the high country around 1 clock, its still dry on the front range, snow tapers off a tad in the high country, but then it builds right back in into the afternoon and evening, well have the cold front drop through, the winds pick up and afternoon and evening, it should rap up after midnight. We should see accumulations of snow, one inch in this area. The colder air will make its way into tomorrow. Tomorrow evening and into tuesday evening thats when the next storm arrives. If this storm tracks further to the south of colorado, were not going to see that foot of snow that some folks are talking about. Its going to be much less, im this forecast. You can see it falling near the front range mountains and on the front range its dry. Plains. High country. Several travel advisories are in effect. Travel in this area can be difficult at times with icy snow pack roads and winds gustying up to 60 Miles Per Hour that will make it toughy up there. Our make it gusty up there. It will make it up to the 50s in the lower elevations. Its windy still on the foothills. We dont have watches or warnings in effect. Its the down sloping winds helping our temperatures be mild. We have 30s and 40s when our overnight lows should be in the teens. But, you know what, just enjoy that warmer weather while you can. Because tomorrow afternoon when we have that second storm arrive, it will be bringing colder temperatures for us and a chance of snow. For today a cold front pushes through this afternoon, it increases the wind, it will increase the clouds as well and bring us some snow through the evening hours, but again this is just the first system thats moving through. Theres a lot to talk about with two storms headed our way. There s lets get into it. The forecast here for the front range will be try and mild to start. We have a cold front that will drop through the front range, it will increase the winds and clouds and bring in a chance of rain and snow by the time its done. Thats the first storm moving through colorado and it will have a bigger impact and you can see a bigger blue in the sky. And well have partly cloudy conditions right here as the temperatures are in the 20s and 30s in denvers in the high country, 30s right now in the map. This afternoon our forecast is for 30s and even 40s in some spots in the high country, especially warmer to the south. It will be later today when the snow starts to move in that direction, for the first half of the day, the snow is in the central and northern mountains. Were starting off dry through the early part of the afternoon. It stay dry, 50s in the forecast there, 60s down south and possibly 70s down south in lamar and springfield. You can see how the clouds are streaming in through the west along with the moisture coming the snow thats falling in the front range mountains, its going there lightly. It looks a little gloomy out there. But, if we have travel advisories, in effect for that area and highway long the i70 stretch until tomorrow morning. Some spots in the high country could see up to 2 feet of snow especially near Rabbit Ears Passed, and later this afternoon, it goes for a central and southern mountains and this creek pass, its dangerous to travel along. There and its dangerous. This is the futurecast that stays in the high country, today around 6 00, you can see how the cold front starts to make its way over the metro area, increasing our clouds and also bringing us a chance for rain and snow. At that time heavy snow at times in the i70 stretch and theres that band of snow that moves through overnight that can bring us 13 inches through early tomorrow morning. By tomorrow morning we take a break from all of the snowy and in the high country, but then the second round of snow starts to move in sunday afternoon and evening and lasts through Tuesday Morning. Tonight the temperatures will drop to 24 degrees, it will be colder and breezy and with that band of snow moving through, we can see the higher amounts down south. Lets talk about what will happen for tomorrow. Currently we have the westerly flow coming through. But, our storm is expected to develop tomorrow evening, somewhere over the four corners and eventually move into southeast colorado. Now, that is the case, were looking at a big snow producer for the front range. Im very hesitant to show you this forecast, but to tell you the truth, most of the snow models are trending somewhere close to a foot. This could change depending on where that storm track will move. Currently were expecting anywhere from six to 12 inches of snowfall through Tuesday Morning with the biggest impact being on monday. Again, i have to put that disclaimer out there, you have strong forecast, we can see the strong winds on monday morning for the difficult travel. Monday at 25 degrees, were starting to taper on 25 degrees, a high of 31 degrees, theres a lot to cover.
