the city. remember those sidewalk sweeps? the city and police-- removed all kinds of grocery carts and people's belongings from neighborhood sidewalks. the people who owned those items say- the city was wrong to take their stuff and essentially kick them out of that area. 9news reporter county building this morning. tarhonda- the plaintiffs-- say the city kicked them out for more housing developments... a suspect is dead officers were responding to a domestic disturbance near college avenue and vine.... when they arrived to see a suspect illegally entering a woman's home. the suspect left the home with a weapon in his hand... police tased him but they shot him. no officers were hurt. a colorado mom gave her life- to save her two year old son. chelsea russell of lakewood died in lake powell in the southeast corner of utah. her toddler fell off a moving house boat. mom jumped in after him- but neither had a life vest. another family member got in a smaller boat to help the pair. the child was alive and awake - and on his mother's chest. russell was unconscious. they tried c-p-r - but could not revive her. a woman in aurora is dead- and everyone who was inside the apartment with her is under arrest. it's unclear how many people that is- or really what happened at all. the woman died in an apartment on east ohio place last night. police say there's no danger to anyone else. this morning- we know the name of the second man who died on a gliding adventure in telluride. 66-year-old ronald ueckert was from south fork. he and 64-year-old robert saunders died wednesday when the glider they were in crashed in the prospect basin area. saunders was the known gliding tour company. the n-t-s-b is investigating the crash. a hiker from vermont died- trying to climb one of colorado's 14ers. the chaffee county sheriff's office says 46-year-old eric poehlman died on mount harvard this week. he disappeared wednesday while on a hike. rescuers found his body on thursday morning - just below the summit - at about 14- thousand-200 feet. this morning .. 2 environmental groups are suing-- challenging federal oil and gas leasing on public lands. 9news reporter vida urbonas is is the information center .. and vida .. government to consider climate change in all of this. this map shows the areas addressed in the lawsuit.. they include colorado wyoming and utah.. adlib .. in the lawsuit .. the 2 environmental groups say the federal government needs to consider the potential effects of climate change before allowing oil potential effects of climate change before allowing oil and gas drilling on public land. the federal lawsuit filed thursday in washington, d.c. .. challenges almost 400 oil and gas leases the u.s. bureau of land management recently has issued in wyoming, utah and colorado. the groups wildearth guardians and physicians for social responsibility say almost 10 percent of u.s. greenhouse gas emissions trace back to publicly owned oil and gas reserves. a spokesperson for blm says they can't comment.. doesn't let them comment on pending litigation. several groups have joined in a movement to end fossil-fuel extraction on public lands. the u.s. chamber of commerce says doing so would wipe out thousands of jobs. marty. rescue teams are people who survived this week's destructive earthquake in italy. rescue dogs are combing through the rubble- as people use their hands and 267 people have died since the six point two magnitude quake on wednesday. but- the exact number of dead and missing is still unclear this morning... because of all the tourists who were likely in the area. one of the hardest hit cities - amatrice- was full of visitors for this weekend's spaghetti festival. these are before and after satellite views. after shocks are adding to the anxiety... italy's geo-physics experts say they've recorded nearly a the initial earthquake. those tremors are toppling already damaged and crumbling smith - the black man shot and killed by police in milwaukee ...will be laid to rest. the 23 year old died about two weeks ago... after that - there were protests and riots through the city...leaving vehicles on fire and several businesses damaged. police say they have video proof smith had a handgun at the time of the shooting.. and was turning toward an officer. the officer who fired the fatal shots that day is also black. it could be weeks before we learn more about the investigation. in one of his final efforts to bring protecting half a billion acres of a national marine monument off the coast of his native hawaii. we should hear more about his plan today. president george w bush created the monument in 2006. my producers wrote in this script that i wouldn't even try to pronounce the name of the monument. sounds like a challenge-- so here it goes. the "papa-ha-now- mow-koo-ah-kay-ah" monument will be quadrupled in size and will be more than twice the size of texas. the national monument designation would get rid of commercial fishing an recreational fishing is still allowed- with a permit. scientists and environmentalists argue that climate change can greatly affect our oceans. commercial fishermen-- as you can imagine-- fought the expansion. seven months of savings- paid off for one five year old. his decision to spread kindness- by sharing his allowance with an buy his nearby police department in new jersey lunch. he decided to call it "kindness day" and department. thanks to his kindness- the police department made william an honorary officer and gave him his own badge. he even got a ride in the police cruiser- in the front, not the back. william has a long list of other good deeds he wants to next- william plans to donate clothes, school supplies and toys to a domestic violence shelter. then he says he wants to give to an animal shelter... and then raise cash for a less fortunate family to help pay for daycare. a popular corn maze in georgia is paying special tribute to the men and women who put their lives on the line for us everyday this is a picture of the seven acre rn year. the design includes a police officer, a squad car... and the words "back the blue." organizers say they wanted to thank first responders. they say it took about six hours to create the maze. georgia's keeping a few hives on it's grounds and putting prisoners to work in the process. for the last six months, 12 men in this prison have tended the hives. the bee keeping club's president says- their crimes don't matter when they clock in for beekeping. about 200 inmates applied for the bee keeping program... only about a dozen got in. prisoners say- it beats circng after a year of experience working with the bees, the inmates will get a certificate from the university of georgia. some of those two ounce jars will go home to inmates' families. timing the lines- more good news at airports now. what people are saying about the t- s-a's efforts to help you
