basketball great. the california highway patrol arrested 25 year old juan angel garcia of san francisco saturday morning suspected of shooting and killing a man along i 80 80 in oakland friday evening. the victim is 65 year old cow basketball hall of famer jean ransom. cal athletics shared a statement reining in part our thoughts are with jeans, family and friends for this tragic loss . gene was one of the greatest players in our men's basketball program history and he will be greatly missed this pain right here is just slamming. it's just making one against cry all day long. todd walker, who grew up with ransom, remembers him as jean the dream. a kid who stood five ft nine and made hoops history playing for berkeley high in the seventies. from 1975 to 78. he owned the court racking up 1185 points in his three years starting for cal. ransom was inducted into the cal athletics hall of fame in 2000 and one that same year he coached for berkeley high school . kevin mclaughlin was a freshman on the team was basically like the big brother and then you know to some of his father figures and that during that year were still present, a coffin went on to play for the two other cases. a surveillance photo from the third bank shows a robber wearing different clothing. the banks that got here today around 16th street, 19th street and mission street. those locations spread out over miles across the city. we have no reports of anyone being injured in any of those cases, if you know of anything that may help investigators, though you're asked to call sfpd s tip line at 415575. 4444 local police officers say they have additional officers in tow trucks dedicated this weekend to crack down on illegal side shows . really? well just hours after this sideshow near telegraph and grand avenue, the police department posted a reminder on twitter about efforts to crack down on side shows. ktvu viewer sent us this video of the incident. video posted on instagram appears to show the same sideshow from a different angle. in this clip, though it looks like someone in the crowd was hit by a vehicle that was doing doughnuts in the middle of the intersection. people rushed to the person who was thrown to the ground as you see there. we don't know the extent of any injuries at this point, police spokesperson tells ktvu officers are collecting information about the incident now. a sideshow in an area where people don't usually see much of that activity leaves behind damage. tonight ktvu is greg ligon shows us what people are dealing with near the border of venetia and valeo. daylight reveals fresh burnout tracks left at the intersection of columbus parkway and rose drive in venetia friday night. police estimate about 300 people gathered here for an illegal sideshow. and when the first officers arrived to break it up, police say some participants approached the officers aggressively. some of them were caring. um you know, bricks and i know, at least one of them was carrying a cinderblock venetia. police say . officers called in help from chp, valeo and other nearby agencies that assisted in dispersing the crowd without incident. but at the neighboring cvs store, broken windowpane and the front door had to be repaired after police say some sideshow participants broke in. there was some consumable goods that were taken snacks and drinks. saturday afternoon, a glass company repaired the damage, so we realigned the doors. you know, we put back on the track, so now it's perfect. the hundreds showed up. police say they arrested one person who is facing charges of reckless driving and possession of a controlled substance. they also impounded two cars, one of them seen here. a man who came to pick up. the owner says the driver did not participate in the sideshow but arrived after and simply got stuck leaving the driveway because his car was too low. i got a call from my friend, he said. he got stuck. and i just can't here to push them. and now they depend like 30 days car, i guess the same there that you that is i saw her. whatever i don't know what they're talking about. venetia police say there's an ongoing investigation of the sideshow and in time, more arrests and vehicle seizures are possible. we are looking at all eats. we are looking at all security cameras that possibly could have captured this. police are also using data from automated license plate readers. in may of last year, the city council approved $236,000 to lease and installed 45 cameras in various parts of the city and police and harold way it drew a large crowd of spectators. this year's lunar new year celebration included lion dancers and a special drum performance. and the chinese new year parade is back this year, and tourist shows us a small protest outside the city's newly created linkage center. demonstrations outside the city's linkage center remained mostly quiet throughout the morning. people here are hoping that the center doesn't become a safe open consumption site, while others say that might be the best way to combat the city's drug issue. photos of young adults recovering from drug addiction their mothers stood outside san francisco's linkage center to tell their stories. he's struggling. to get healthy. he wants to get off of drugs. but san francisco makes it so incredibly easy. for him to stay on the streets and continue using the center opened earlier this year, according to the mayor's office. it was meant to be a one stop shop for those dealing with addiction. people have access to food, water and hygiene 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and it can handle up to 100 clients at a time when fully staffed, however, these mothers accused the center of allowing drug sales and use within the center after a san francisco chronicle report he was here a couple weeks ago. and he said, people are just using in there, he says it doesn't feel any different from being on the street. juveniles. that's apparently them there and that car dashcam video capturing these images of that pursuit yesterday now, police say, as officers were responding to a report of two juveniles beating a person than stealing their car. the vehicle passed one of the officers but ended up crashing as you see here, and the young suspects were taken into custody without incident. the operators of comey spa in oakland or releasing new details about an attempted murder and suicide this week involving employees, they say one of their own employees, opened fire inside of the spell and then took her own
