>> reporter: julie, the warriors had to feel kind of comfortable coming in to tonight's game. a 2-0 lead in the series, both games in oakland were dominant wins. game two was a blowout. so they had to feel pretty good about coming into cleveland tonight. the cavs playing before their home fence for the first time and playing with a sense of desperation. they jumped on the warriors for a 17-point lead in the first quarter. as has been the case throughout, the warrior bench brought them back. shaun livingston with the two in the second quarter. warriors down by just eight, very manageable eight points at halftime. but the cavs came out in the third quarter and played just the way they did in the first first. not all about lebron james but when he plays well, the cavs play well. the three there, cavs up by 22 points in the third quarter. a subpar game for steph curry. he gets the ball taken away by james here. james feed it to kyrie irving and then gets rewarded on the receiving end of a slam dunk, and as game two was a blowout in oakland, this one was a blowout here. garbage time in the fourth quarter. the warriors lose by 30, 120-90. just about to a man the warriors felt like they didn't come out ready to play tonight. >> they outplayed us. that was the only adjustment. for us, there's no adjustment. we know everything. don't get outplayed. we've got to do better with that. come friday. we got bullied. that is on me. take that on the chin. >> it wasn't lineups. it wasn't substitution patterns. it was we just got our tail kicked. >> that was pretty much the consensus among all the warriors we talked to. the beauty of a 2-0 lead is you have a bit of cushion. the warriors have used some of that cushion as they trail 2-1 and now it's the warriors who need to play with a sense of desperation on friday because the last thing they want is to have the series go back to oakland tied at two. more coming up in sports, but until then, joe fonzi, ktvu fox 2. >> quick question. how do you go from beating cleveland by 30 points three days ago to losing to cleveland tonight by 30? >> reporter: you're right, frank. this postseason, blowouts have been typical on both sides. i think the one thing that everybody agrees on at this point is the talent level is relatively equal. we've talked all year about how strong the warriors are from top to bottom. but when the cavaliers are playing their best and you're not, you can expect to happen what happened tonight. the warriors were -- they said it's human nature. up 2-0 and you coming here, maybe just a little bit too easy in oakland. they got reminded tonight it's not going to be easy. >> they got reminded big time. joe fonzi in cleveland, thank you. now to oracle arena. ktvu's amber lee, a packed house even with the warriors on the road? make matters worse, look at klay thompson, hurt as timofey mozgov need him. later as klay thompson went to the locker room, he called that a dirty play. the warriors do clawback, leandro barbosa nicely, harrison barnes had 18. maybe his best game of the postseason. klay thompson did come back from the locker room looking agile there. only 10 points though. but state came back, only down eight at halftime. very manageable. but terrible in the third, cold shooting, lebron winds up with it, in stride, perfect form, nails a three. wound up with 32 points tonight. going to get plenty more. curry tried to heat it up, hits this three but it's only 19 points on 6-13 shooting, never got it going. talk about showtime tonight, look at this. lebron hustles off another curry turnover, rewarded by kyrie, complete annihilation as you look at it again, the cavs now 8-0 at home in the postseason. there is your exclamation point as they win by 30 points tonight. last year, joe fonzi and i were back in cleveland for game three similar game, not quite as big a blowout. i always say, joe, i hate being so to speak in enemy territory when that happens because you feel like it's an avalanche and you are outnumbered. i don't imagine it was a whole lot of fun for you out there in cleveland tonight, joe. >> reporter: no. it's tough to turn that tied and they know what we do for a living and looking at us and saying we got you tonight. but you mentioned the stats. the warriors on the wrong end of just about all the stats tonight tonight. you mentioned those game threes, actually dates back to last year, the warriors have lost five straight game threes in the postseason but the big ones to me tonight, number 1, turnovers. they turned it over 18 times. that resulted in 34 points for the cavs. we all know the warriors are a three-point shooting team. the big three, draymond green, klay thompson and steph curry, went a combined 4-20 from 3- point range. klay thompson was just 1-7. draymond was 0-4. it was the mvp himself who stood up tonight and said i didn't play well and i have to play better in game four. >> for me to do what i need to do, i have to play 100 times better than i did especially in the first quarter. to kind of control the game, didn't do it. >> steve kerr asking you on the bench are you okay? what did you tell him? are you okay? >> i'm fine. we're in good shape. not the way we wanted tonight to go. we have a great opportunity on friday to keep control of the series. >> we win together and lose together. obviously the starting unit has to be much better. we lost the game in the first quarter. we can't let them get out to the 33-14 lead. we're going to come out much better on friday. >> no amount of x's and o's, no matter what steve says, it's not going to matter if we don't decide to man up and give 100% effort out there. that's what it's going to take. being the defending champions, how hard it is to win. especially on the road. this team is desperate and we have to be desperate as well. we have to be the aggressor and come out and hit first. >> reporter: so the warriors is still the series 2-1. crucial for them, game four on friday. mark, i've got to tell you about a little adventure we're going on here. these are unprecedented times in the bay area with both our nba team and hockey team in the finals. photographer ryan cecile and i tomorrow, heading out on the road trip, headed to western pennsylvania, to pittsburgh to see if the sharks can stave off elimination. when we talk to you next, we'll be in a different state and
