to death in oakland's little saigon neighborhood today, police say officers found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound on the 1100 block of fifth avenue around 2 45. paramedics transported her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. oakland city council member nikki 14 on abbas says she is outraged and sickened over the woman's death . she says the woman was shot during an attempted robbery. no word on any arrests. in a statement, the council members said, what does it say about our community when we cannot walk down our own street, visit a neighbor or enjoy a picnic on the lake on a sunday afternoon weekend and must do better? also new tonight, the suspect in a 40 year old cold cases returning to santa clara county to face murder charges, according to sources close to the investigation. 75 year old gary ramirez is being extradited for the murder of karen stitt. sunny well. police say ramirez kidnapped, sexually assaulted and repeatedly stabbed the 15 year old girl as cycling community for riding to the top of mount diablo every week for more than 10 years. you see, berkeley police are investigating a hate crime that left one person injured. police say a person was kicked and assaulted with a shovel at the people's park construction site at about 7 45 this morning. one suspect has been arrested. three others are still at large. police say the incident was an anti transgender hate crime based on statements from the victim and witnesses. the victim was taken to the hospital for observation. earlier another person reported being assaulted with a baseball bat also at people's park. police say there were no visible injuries and no description of a suspect. in that case, investigators are searching for the cause of an apartment fire in west oakland this morning. firefighters first arrived at this three story apartment building on the 600 block of 23rd street. just about 7 30. there are five units in the building, and by the time firefighters arrived, everyone had made it out safely. 40 firefighters were on the scene within minutes and were able to contain that fire just to a staircase on the outside of the building. firefighters say no one was hurt. in alameda fire broke out at a townhouse. video posted on social media shows flames coming from the roof. this fire broke out right near the college of alameda and the alameda landing shopping center. because of that fire is not yet known. cal fire crews have gained ground on a small wildfire burning just south of clear lake. the point fire started burning last night in lake county near mount kennedy, about 200 homes were evacuated in the jago bay area as a precaution, but those evacuations were lifted today and people have returned home. the fire is burning in an area that is difficult to access. so air tankers and helicopters were called in, along with the usual fire equipment. people who live nearby posted videos on social media fire reports. 14 acres are burned and the flames are now 90% contained. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. fbi agents have a warning about a new surge of ransomware attacks coming up how hackers are going after some people street. he was pronounced dead at the scene. police say it appears he died from blunt force trauma. no arrests have been made and anyone with information about the case is asked to call oakland police early morning shooting in san francisco's mission district killed one person and sent three others to the hospital. it happened at about 2 30 this morning at mission in 19th street. when officers arrived, they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds and one person with non life threatening injuries. the three were taken to the hospital where one of them died. no arrests have been made, and police have not yet released a motive in the shooting. anyone with information is asked to call sfpd. the justice department has until thursday to come forward with proposed redactions to the affidavit detailing the evidence that led to a search of former president trump's florida estate as foxes marc meredith reports the judges looking to release some of the documents to the public. clear is that anxiety symptoms depression. even thoughts of suicide have increased significantly during the pandemic. so these are all issues that we're addressing not only in different settings, school settings home and in our outpatient setting. governor newsom's overhaul of the childhood mental health system includes hiring 40,000 behavioral health professionals , creating an online platform for mental health assessment and intervention suicide prevention program and also doubling the number of school counselors in schools from the current 5000 to 10,000, but there's still time sights on california. they've written prop 27, to allow online sports betting. they tell us it will fund programs for the homeless. but read prop 27's fine print. 90% of profits go to out-of-state corporations, leaving almost nothing for the homeless. no real jobs are created here. but the promise between our state and our sovereign tribes would be broken forever. these out-of-state corporations don't care about california. but we do. stand with us. summertime tasting in sonoma county brought the grapes in their first thing they did to that press the skins off showcasing the grapes that have different background stories scripted by changing weather patterns. keller estate specializes in chardonnay and pinot noir. wine makers cherish the unique wind and fog patterns found in the petaluma gap. but the latest drought has its winery asking questions. i think it's become a question of can we continue to grow grapes or not? keller is the estate director and has been trying to figure out ways to fend off the intense drought. the property has no access to municipal water and 60% of the crops were lost last year. they found a solution and it wasn't recycled water in 2020 . we started trucking water from the treatment plant, but we soon realized that we weren't able to get enough water and it was too expensive to even continued going down that route. the nearest city pump that supplies recycled water is one mile away from this pond on their property color estate made the bold move last year, digging this long trench over hills and across properties to make a connection. the cost was $50,000 were basically winter water storage in our ponds. so we calculate how much water we're gonna need for the season. we fill our ponds and then through the year. we're using it. finally a reliable resource that could soak their thirsty crops. keller estate buys a recycled water from the city and uses the pipeline from october through march. pump transports the water to 90 acres of vineyards. their investment is paying off in the crops have more life. we're happy. you know, we can. we've got enough grapes for to make wines. this is the source of the coveted water. ellis creek water recycling facility is five miles away. down lakeville highway wastewater is treated here in multiple steps. some of the water is released into the petaluma river, the fraction of water that makes it to the final tertiary stages treated with ultraviolet light and reused. the goal is to save all the fresh water. we can reuse it somehow. christopher bolt is the director of public works and utility. he's for the city of petaluma. he says there has been substantial interest and recycled water, and there are projects in place to help meet growing demand. right now we're able to produce about 3.5 million gallons per day. our goal after one of the grants we've received, or terraced area upgrade project would be to produce closer to six million gallons per day. pipes carry the non potable water from the facility to various customers in petaluma, some parks, schools, farms and golf courses are already hooked up to the system plan to really study ways that we can expand what we call our purple pipe system throughout the community. and that would include both throughout the urban areas, but also the agricultural areas. updates and expansions may take years to accomplish. our current drought is still front and center. and this winery is acknowledging its big accomplishment. you must be sort of proud of them. this system. well, i am proud i am proud of, you know, it was
