say the suspects are described as african-american. a man age 20 to 25 and 5 foot 11 and 170 pounds with shoulder length dreadlocks. the woman is about 18. the getaway vehicle is a late- model dark gray honda accord with were in damage. the couple took his camera attached to a red lanyard similar to this one. >> it comes as a shock that that happen. >> reporter: he said his energy was of a much younger man. >> he got along with everybody. >> reporter: the director of the film commission said he was a mentor to her and that he spent upwards of 40 years helping get commercials made in san francisco. >> i keep thinking about him and thinking he's ever going to do this again. >> reporter: there is a video camera but they are pointed at the tower to protect against property damage. they want cameras to be focused on the parking lot where the shooting took place and they want signage indicating the presence of cameras. he said his kindness will be remembered. >> he is really such a warm, loving person and everyone will really miss him. >> reporter: police officials say they were posted there from 3:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. >> i don't know police had told you but was is just a crime of opportunity or do they think these two people were up there waiting to find a victim? >> reporter: they did not say. they were tightlipped about the details we were asking for. they did say there's been a lot of car break-ins and they point out that there were two other homicides up here making it a total of three in the last 18 months. >> hopefully they will get cameras there soon. bart is dealing with a sharp increase in sexual assaults. there's been already seven rapes for the first half of 2017. that is the same number reported for 2015 and 2016 combined echo there have been 28 sexual assault on the bart system. that is the same number for all of last year to go the police chief said part of the solution is policing. he is working on fast tracking the hiring of more bart former rock quarry. authorities say with all the rain last summer there's a lot of rain flowing through the area. relatives say garcia was a union technician who would do anything for his family and they've set up a gofundme page to help the wife and children he leaves behind. officials in san francisco are struggling with a growing problem. dirty needles littering sidewalks, city streets and public parks where children play. rob roth shows us how bad the situation has gotten and what's being done to fix it. >> reporter: this homeless man collected used syringes by the shoe-full in city hall and disposed of them in a city operated needle disposal. it seems to many people san francisco is becoming buried in dirty needles. >> you can literally see people injecting themselves on a daily basis. >> reporter: but it's not just anecdotal. in march, city workers found 13,333 used syringes on the street. the previous march the number was less than 3,000. >> but as the city is developing, we're seeing a lot more of these problems coming in to the heart of the city. we're out there cleaning them up. >> reporter: it could be worse. about 11,000 needles a month end up in these disposal boxes scattered around the city. needles that might otherwise end up on the street like these. this heroin user we found in front of the main library says he's been shooting up since last year in what's become a national opioid epidemic. >> i break the point off right away and stick it in the dirt or something. i stomp it down, put it in the can, put it in the trash, flush the toilet. >> reporter: another heroin user says he never leaves his used needles on the ground. >> i think the wrong people are disposing of drugs in the wrong way and they're disposing of their drug equipment in the wrong way. i find crack laying on the street. i find needles on the street. i don't like it. >> the city has established a commission to look in to the possibility of opening an indoor safe injection site. a recommendation could come as soon as august. that could reduce some of the used needles on the street, and with counselors present, perhaps some addicts would consider treatment. >> it's a good idea because it's not in public view. a lot of people don't want to see injection drug users. >> reporter: for now it appears it's getting harder to find a haystack amid the needles. in san francisco, rob roth, ktvu fox 2 news. police in the north bay have arrested a woman suspected of using counterfeit money at a fundraising bake sale put on by high school music students. as we first reported last week, police obtained surveillance video of the suspect whom they've now identified as michelle cruz. they say she used a fake $100 bill to buy $20 worth of baked goods from the students. investigators say they made a traffic stop yesterday and found information linked to cruz. authorities later found her at her home where they said they discovered heroin and methamphetamine. cruz faces charged including drug possession and suspicion of using fake currency. federal investigators say an air canada jet that almost landed on a taxiway at san francisco international airport earlier this month had descended to less than 100 feet above the ground. the national transportation safety board said it interviewed the plane's captain and will talk to the co-pilot tomorrow. they plan to finish talking to air traffic controllers by wednesday. the air canada jet had mistakenly lined up to land on the taxiway instead of the runway with four planes full of passengers in its direct path on the ground. the ntsb said it was less than 100 feet above the ground before it was told to go around. we got the weather forecast lined up for you. we've got a little fog trying to
