Street for their 47th annual pride parade. Ktvu allie rasmus explains the event was fun and festive, but this years parade also included some new protest groups. The crowd cheered and fashion waved. People poured out of bart stations and hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets for the annual spectacle and celebration on market street. The San Francisco pride parade. A lot of happy people and the openness of the city, embracing everything thats been going on. I just think its beautiful and wonderful. Reporter San Francisco residents have been a couple for 51 years, participating in this parade for decades going back to the 70s. Seems more like a protest in those days hahn it is these days. With our Current Administration we are back into the protest states. We have really struggled to keep our rights. Reporter the first several contingencies were a part of the socalled resistant movement. Groups protesting the policies, statements, and actions of the Current Trump administration. There are about 260 contingency groups participating in the parade this year. Thats about average compared to your past. The president says whats different about this year, they expect more people to march in those groups. Reporter even the corporate floats from amazon had more participant this is year. Were expecting over a thousand people from amazon. Is that more in years past . Last year we had about 300 people. It skyrocketed this year. Reporter they came to the parade where they have been spectators before. This is the first time they decided to march with the planned parenthood group. Its the elections. I feel if i dont participate i feel like im a part of the blame. Reporter but with music, costume, dancing, the event was a celebration. Thousands of people also gathered today for new york citys pride parade. The city celebrating its 48th anniversary of the event and organizers say it is the largest pride raid in the world. Before the parade new yorks Governor Andrew Cuomo spoke at the pride breakfast praising the success of the event. Today is the pride parade and we should be proud. We should be proud of paul simon, we should be proud of the movement and what the movement has accomplished. We should be proud of the advocates who have worked so hard and accomplished so much. He was on top of the nba float celebrating alongside the commissioner adam silva and with some other nba officials. Minnesota saw a record turnout for its pride parade. Organizers say more than 150,000 people came to celebrate downtown minneapolis. But protesters delayed the parade for about an hour. They were demonstrating against police and the Philando Castile shooting trial. Spectators say love wins seems to be the answer them of the anthem of the day. San Francisco Park Officials Say it will cost 1 million to repair a popular playground at Golden Gate Park after someone torched it overnight. Reporter family and children visiting the koret center Golden Gate Park shocked to see this. Rides melted, equipment charred all in the hands of vandals. I feel kind of disappointed this is one of my favorite parts of the park. Its really sad. Who would do that . Reporter many children are unsure who the vandals are. Many traveling from out of the area tear first time at the their first time at the park. Theres no reason to vandalize a childs park. Its definitely disturbing. I mean where we are from we dont see many parks vandalized. Reporter Authorities Say the fire was reported at 12 30 in the morning. Fire crews responded and immediately put it out. The cause is still under investigation. No one was injured. We usually see things like propane glass, graffiti, but this is a pretty rare occurrence. Reporter the San Francisco recreational parks departmenthave no idea who is responsible. The last time any of their parks were set on fire happened back in 2005. Now youre saying its weird someone could even think to do it at a playground out of all places, you know . This is where small kids come to to be safe. And they play with other kids here. Reporter park Officials Say it will need to be replaced based on their experience in rehabbing playgrounds. They estimate it will cost 1 million. Originally opening up in 1888. The playground reopened in 2007 after a 3 million renovation. Well, a million dollars. Thats an expensive thing. Reporter despite the high cost to replace this, visitors hope itll happen soon. A lot of things happen that dont need to happen and this is one thing that needs to happen. This is a wonderful Gathering Place for children. Reporter we are told there are no security cameras in this area and there will be extra patrols in light of what has happened. An interview with President Trump aired today in which the president lashed out at senator Elizabeth Warren of massachusetts over her criticism of his new health care bill. The president s remarks came during an interview with fox and friends. Mr. Trump called senator warren a, hopeless case for her efforts. It would be so great if the democrats and the republicans could get together, wrap their arms around it and come up with something everybody is happy with. Meanwhile the Supreme Court could issue an order on President Trumps travel ban as early as this week. But in its final week, its one of several big cases pending action this week. The ladder focuses on a playground at Trinity Lutheran church of columbia. A case of separation and church and state. The justices are trying to decide whether or not its legal for the Missouri Department of National Resources to exclude the church from the state program that reimburses the cost of rubberizing the surface of a playground. Another big decision the so called travel ban. They restrict travel from six predominantly muslim nation. The Justice Department is asking the Supreme Court to enforce the second version of the executive order while the appeal rulings against it from the lower courts. They are expected to issue an order on that this week, but the larger questions, they could be litigated down the road. And all there is, there are six opinions that have not yet been released. It started back on june 11 when a woman who lives at the home pulled into her garage. Two woodbe robbers tried to take her car keys. Her 74yearold husband was beaten by one of the robbers. Now a day later the victim says the same suspects came back, but they managed to scare them off. The day after that neighbors called police saying they spotted the suspects in the area again. Police took three people into custody, a 15yearold boy, a 14yearold girl, and a 10year old girl. The girls were released later. The boy was booked on charges including Home Invasion robbery, elderly abuse, and possession of a stolen vehicle. A pregnant woman who was injured in a shooting has given birth to her baby. The victim shot in sacramento last night while attending the party. Police say she was about eight months pregnant. Officials say the mothers wounds did not induce the birth, but they decided to deliver the baby once she got to the hospital. Given the injuries she sustained, they often need to help induce the birth of the child just to pull them out. And fortunately both the mother and the baby are expected to survive. Police say the shooter was on foot, but they dont have any other details about that suspect. With the 4th of july coming up, the Police Departments are on the lookout for illegal fireworks in stockton this weekend finding a garage packed with an estimated 10,000 worth of fire creaks, bottle rockets u and other pyrotechnician. Reporter illegal fireworks turn up just about anywhere these days. But all of these in one homes in a quiet stockton neighborhood. People didnt see it coming. I had seen that to people. The Fire Works Task force have led them to this house making for their biggest and likely easier because of the season. It was inside in plain view. And now he is charged with illegal fireworks with intent to contribute. A task force estimates 10,000 with those outofstate fireworks. A danger so gray a firefighter and bomb squad officer helped with the fireworks removal. Just in case it is just in case it happened to start in that house. Once you reach the garage youll have a huge fire. Its scary because i know how fires jump. They jump from one house to the other house and it could be really bad. The car then hit a street sign and a wall and then it caught fire. Its not clear what led up to the crash. Firefighters say a man and a child both taken to the hospital in critical condition, but so far no other details have been released. In san jose investigators are trying to determine the cause of an Early Morning rv fire, which started around midnight 12 30 and the driveway on peter pan avenue. The fire spread to the garage and two cars parked in the drive way, but they were able to stop it from one woman made it out safely thanks to some help from neighbors. One of the officers said she was getting ready to go to bed. People started pounding on her door telling hey, your front yard is on fire, so they were able to get her out of the house. Another resident of the home was not there at the time. He came home about the time we got here. Reporter firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Fortunately no injuries report there had. Investigators believe roofing work may have caused the fire at the Carlmont High School yesterday. It was first reported around 6 00 when smoke was seen coming out of the roof above the boys locker room. About the playoff game where we are able to put that fire out quickly. While the main portion of the gym was not affected, the damage of the fire is estimated to cost about 100,000.
