They were in an equipped Toyota Tundra pickup truck. We dont know if something happened to the truck but when the family was found tonight they were on foot. Lagos own barber shop is open in alameda. He and his family had been camping with family members. We were camping across the street here and at 11 00 he took off to do the back roads. That was tuesday morning. Reporter they werent heard from again until tonight. The family has belocated and is safe. Amber lee is in Sierra County. The search for that missing family took place in a snowstorm in may. This family was expecting bar beque and beach weather. About 7inches of snow today fell. In Placer County lightning started several fires. This is video of firefighters putting out hot spots. A tree and a few houses were hit by the lightning. The unseasonably weather also rolled through the bay area today. Springtime rain in san jose caused people to take out their umbrellas and turn on their windshield wipers. In between the rain drops there was a rainbow. Our investigations exposed unsanitary conditions in that apartment complex including black mold and the water there is contaminated and residents say its making them sick. Jana katsuyama is in oakland and she tells us all the residents are moving out. Reporter they are, and they just left about 30 second ago. Police did a sweep of the building to make sure there were no other residents inside before the cleaning crew went in. Take a look at the video we just shot. They posted the red tag on the building tonight. Residents had to pack their bags and board a bus for a hotel. Some of them had waited until 2 30 this afternoon when the issue came to light. All of this started when three of the residents got sick and then asked east bay mud to do a test. Lydia ham millton millton hamilton is one of the residents that said she got really sick. I was throwing up, really bad diarrhea. Reporter they went to see a doctor and he suggested they get their water tested. It tested positive for contamination of bacteria usually found in sewer water. We chose to shut the building down, red tag it and get this thing restored. Theyre going to do a chlorination on the building. The Maintenance Man came knocking on everybodys door saying that we have to evacuate immediately. Extremely upset and disstressed. Just sick to our stomachs. Some people were crying, some people didnt know what to do. Reporter some peek like Jonathan Scott who had to go to work. There was no notice, nothing given to us or our security. I had to be ready for work tonight. Reporter ktvu has visited the hotel several times this year. And found leaks, unfixed repairs. In the past residents say they have felt sick. For the last seven months i think i had been vomiting. At least four days out of the week. Reporter the lieutenant attorney told me east bay mudd informed the hotels owner about 48 hours ago but none of the residents were notified. I did speak with the owner of the hotel, he said theyre doing everything they can putting them up in motels, giving them a per diem to try to support the tenants. Meantime, crew members are going to try to flush the system with chlorine and find the cause of the cross contamination but that may take weeks to find the root of the cause. At that point would the residents then be let back in . Then the city would be able to take down the red tag. But you know were talking about more than four dozen people, theres 90 units in this building so theyre going to be living out of the motel room all of that time. Obviously its a difficult thing. The officer was not injured. Across the bay in San Francisco, District Attorney George Gascon has appointed three retired judges to review thousands of cases for evidence of possible Police Officer bias. This officer demonstrated extreme hate and bias toward african americans, members of the Lgbt Community and women. The search for two girls from Sonoma County missing since tuesday and possibly on their way to washington state. San jose Police Released enhanced photos of a man who attacked a 13yearold girl inside his home. Police say the man followed her home from school on tuesday then forced his way into her house in san joses west valley. Inside home Surveillance Video shows the man grabbing the middle schoolgirl and pushing her against a wall. The girl punches him and he decided to walk away. Ktvus john fowler reports its not just power being wasted its money. Researchers surveyed 70,000 Northern California homes and their smart meters and found all of them had vampires. Reporter he wasnt talking to us but now he will have to face charges. Weldon raised red flags when he appealed a series of parking citations for misuse of a disabled plaquered last year. And the dmv discovered weldon had forged his original application. He did have a forged doctors signature. The doctor said thats not my signature and hes not a patient of ours. Reporter two investigates exposed rampant abuse of disabled parking plaquers. But weldon went further to install this disabled space outside his apartment. Weldon also submitted a false application to get this press photographer license plate. Because he doesnt work in the media field at all. Never. At all, never. Reporter when the dmv finally caught up with weldon they said he wasnt parked in his disabled park. They said instead he was walking his dog when they arrested him. What did he claim his disability . With parking so limits in parts of the bay area, dmv investigators say access to a blue parking zone can be like gold. Reporter one person is dead after a severe thunderstorms caused flooding in oklahoma. A 42yearold woman drowned in her storm shelter in southeast oklahoma city. The victims neighbor found her body in the storm cellar this morning. Emergency Officials Say a tornado destroyed about 25 homes in bridge creek and 12 people were injured. That tornado also hit a wildlife refuge that houses tigers and bears. Residents were told to stay inside when some of those animals got loose. Eventually all those animals were found and returned. And we have video of two missing children being found. And problems with fast tracks tolling system. And they say clearing your name can be a disaster. Fast track helps thousands of people across the bay area without having to stop to pay a toll. But2 investigates has uncovered problems with the fast toll collection system. As john sasaki found out clearing your name is no easy task. Reporter daniel hill of concord says she crossed the cardena strait for three years without a problem. But then in august of 2013 something went haywire with fast track. When i went to renew my registration for my vehicle there was a hold for 4,550 today. Reporter for 550 of unpaid tolls that should have been automatically paid for. Online my account was always in good standing. Reporter hill disputed the charges, that was denied. Fast track added a fee. She officered to make payments. It was rejected and ended up being 5,630. Reporter hill says she was almost in tears. The answer she says she got was shocking and highly inappropriate. You should look into bankruptcy. Reporter thats what hill did spending another 5,000 in legal fees for fast track fees and penalties that were not her fault. John goodwin of the Bay Area Toll Authority acknowledges Customer Service suggested bankruptcy. Goodwin says fast tracks goal is to work with customers. Our interest is not in punishing customers, our interest is not collecting violation penalties. Our interest really is only in collecting the tolls. Reporter he says there are 125 million transactions on the seven state owned bridges every year. We execute over 99. 9 of those transactions flawlessly. Reporter but that remaining. 1 of 1 turns out to 342 mistakes every day. Most are caused by fast track cameras misreading license plates. When you think youre getting ahead, here comes Something Else to knock you down. Reporter shes loaded with invoices for trips she didnt take. I dont drive across, i walk across. Reporter she lost the car in april 2013 to a repossession, then in late september the fast track invoices started arriving. And a father and two daughter that were missing for two days while on a camping trip were located at about 8 00 tonight and theyre all safe. Ktvus amber lee is in Sierra County with that father and his two children emerge from the woods this evening. Amber. Reporter frank, were in the small town of downieville where a father and his two daughter were found at 8 00 in an area called rams horn in seattle county. They were taken thereafter being spotted by a National Guard helicopter that was part of a large scale search for the family. They were found about 1 mile northeast of poker flat not far from their original camp site when they were last seen on tuesday morning. Sierra county sheriff tells me the father nicholas vlajos and 5yearold son and 3yearold daughter are in great condition. They were spotted hiking out not far from the familys black pickup. Now the condition of the pickup is not known at this point. They were air lifted out and were checked out by medical personnel we were standing by at rams horn. Are they going to be transported to a hospital . They dont need to go to the hospital. From what i understand theyve been checked out by paramedics. Its really good news. Theyre alive and well and theyre going to be reunited with the family. Reporter sheriffs officials tell me theyre family is being debriefed about what stranded them. After the debriefing the father and the children are free to go home. A successful search and rescue mission that ended two days after it started. So lots of smiles and people around here. They have family out here greeting them as well. So amber, is the assumption here that maybe something happened when they were off roading that truck and the truck was disabled and they had to hike their way out. Is that the working theory here . Reporter yes, it is. I spoke to some of the deputies and they tell me thats the thought but they cannot confirm that at this point. Their focus is on giving the family medical attention. They were checked out even if they looked fine. They wanted to make sure they are. And then theres the debriefing i was telling you about and were going to find out more after that debriefing. It would have been nice to get more rain than we did. But rain nonetheless in many locations. Especially in the foothills of the sierra nevada. And snow around kirkwood. Maybe more in higher elevations. Temperatures are in the low 50s and 60s. That instability leaves, High Pressure comes back and with the High Pressure comes back, the fog. So were going to see the valley or the coastal fog fill in at the coast. Late tonight, and probably by tomorrow afternoon and so what thats going to do is give us a more classic spring pattern. Cool coast mild, warm inland. Thats how thats going to go. As we take a look at San Francisco. 65degrees for a daytime high in San Francisco. 7 00a. M. 52 degrees. As you look at san joses forecast high tomorrow. Theyre going to be just in the low 70s. A little warmer tomorrow. Warmer than it was today and as you head into your forecast for the next few days you see that system spin out. You see the fog come back. Thats tomorrow night. And then you see the fog just kind of sticking around all bay area weekend. The showers are mostly done. Even in the mountains as were into this last 10 00 hour. 72 in concord. 72 in morgan hill and gilroy. And along the coast youre going to have that fog. As you mentioned that fog is going to really just drop temperatures. Theres the five day forecast and its fog and low clouds. Pretty much all over the place.
