Reporter the weekend was overcast, and cooler, but today the sun came back out and put more heat on the fire. Everyone is worried about wind tomorrow. Tonight we looked at some of the homes already lost, with thousands more still threatened. The king fire story is a study in contrast. In some places, frenzied activity, chopping and shipping. Clearing lines so the fire wont find ready fuel, if it makes another run. You dont just want to have a plan a, you want a backup plan, and a backup plan after that. Reporter on the other hand, a dozen small towns are desolate. Absolutely still. Under mandatory evacuation, even though no flames seem near. Just the ever pleasant stench of smoke. This is our controlled burn that went pretty well the last couple of days. Reporter crews made major progress on the interior of the fire. Do you think were looking at another week . Oh, yeah. Reporter a drive up a winding road reveals the ten homes and assorted outbuildings, destroyed last week. Power poles are down. Dead trees are being taken down, and the ground is still hot, which is why residents, burned out or not, are still being kept away. I would want to be home. They know they would want to be home. Actually, i think more good news than bad news. A red flag warning goes into effect tomorrow. The wind is going to pick up a bit. The temperatures arent going to get that warm, but all along here, a red flag warning starts tomorrow afternoon and ends the next day. Humidity down to 15 . And the winds are going to get going, maybe 25, 30 miles per hour, but its short lived, because that system is going to get kicked out of here really fast, because of this system. A low pressure system is going to roll into this area. Its going to have a huge impact on that fire as we go wednesday night into thursday. A few hours of a red flag warning. Construction means congestion, says one woman who works in the building adjacent to the fremont street offramp. It gets a little scary when people see a green light around here and they go as fast as they can. You see people literally jump out of cars, all the time down here. Drivers say closure of the folsom street offramp for 6 months is a problem. Particularly for arriving commuters in the morning. Its going to be a big deal. That off ramp is already a big off ramp. Whatever construction theyre doing, with all the street closures and stuff, i mean, it just makes it difficult all around for commuters. There are new developments tonight in the fight against isis. Just hours ago, the u. S. And its allies began air strikes inside syria. The pentagon confirmed that fighter jets and predator drones along with warplanes from allies took part, and this is key. Several arab allies joined in. The they arrested two people for assault, a 31yearold man from calimesa, california, and a 31yearold man from surprise, arizona. They were both verbal altercations that led to physical altercations. Somebody said something that offended somebody else, or that somebody else considered rude. I cant really say if it had anything to do with the score of the game, or opposing fans from different teams. Reporter they identified one victim bloodied by the brawl, but say that man denied medical attention on scene, and declined to press charges. Another man can be seen helping a Security Guard being choked by a fan. Doc himself took notice. Who was the guy in the docket jersey in the brawl in the cardinals game . They dont know how many were tossed out, as a result of this particular incident. 49ers defensive lineman, ray mcdonald played in yesterdays game despite his arrest for felony Domestic Violence. And now a south bay Domestic Violence nonprofit is hoping that the incident involving mcdonald will lead to a change in the city of santa clara. The group next door has submitted a resolution in hopes of finding ways to stop Domestic Violence. The Group Originally had called on the city and the 49ers to bench mcdonald during the investigation. The executive director tells us, now the focus is on solutions. We need to talk about in churches, and schools and in our corporations. This is a communitywide issue. It needs to be addressed by the community. Today, the owner of the Baltimore Ravens responded to a report criticizing the teams handling of the ray rice Domestic Abuse case. He said he failed by not watching the rice security video months ago. It seems to me in hindsight that we certainly had the leverage to say to ray, and his lawyer that we cant have him play on our team until we see that last bit of evidence. The report by espn says that the ravens had a detailed description of what happened in the elevator, and suggests they still tried to persuade the nfl to be lenient on rice. New video tonight of a fire near the port of los angeles. A dock beneath a warehouse went up in flames and prompted the evacuation of two terminals. The fire started about 6 40 tonight, and sent thick black smoke into the sky. Firefighters attacked the fire from boats, along from the air, and from the ground. Authorities say large metal coils were inside that warehouse. Here in the bay area, investigators in redwood city are working to figure out why a cabin cruiser caught fire this afternoon. Fire crews shared this picture of the boat as it was fully engulfed in flames near the bear island aquatic center. It happened just about 4 00. The coast guard, and fish and wildlife ranges will give a notice, as a precaution. New at 10 00, bellmont police are looking for a group of people that broke into a car dealership and took off with several vehicles. An unknown number of people scaled the fence and broke into a buildingy car keys were located. They still have at least 9 cars left for repairs. Authorities recovered one of the missing cars in the east bay. Oakland city leaders took action on a controversial garbage contract that was worth at least 1 billion. The city reversed an earlier decision, and tonight decided to split the contract between two companies. Jana katsuyama is at city hall in oakland with the decision, and also how it will affect people who live in oakland. Reporter frank, the vote that passed this past hour was 60. Many were very angry about how the city was handling the garbage contracts. This story has been shocking in its lack of transparency. Reporter many disgusted over trash and how the city is handling its waste contract. Did everybody make a mistake up here . Reporter the city voted 71 in august to dump the contract with texas Waste Management, in favor with the oakland company, california waste solutions, which proposed a lower rate. Waste management filed a lawsuit, and that prompted mayor jean quan to broker a compromise. The rates stay the same that was proposed on august 13. 36. 82. Millions of dollars in down payment, nonrefundable to audit equipment that if necessary, started july 1. He says hes disappointed that his company would lose the 1 billion contract, but with the lawsuit, hes unable to get long term funding to expand. Cws needs to be reimbursed for all the expenses, their legal expenses, and paying all these workers. Reporter under this compromise, cws will get the citys entire recycling contract. Waste management has agreed to increase pickups for illegal dumping, and agreed to several cws proposals, such as partnering with city corps. And a plan that drew anger from some west oakland residents. East bay tried composting years back. It was so nauseating we finally got them to close it. We couldnt even eat with our windows open without smelling poop. Reporter as part of this ten year compromise deal, Waste Management agrees to drop its lawsuit, and staff tell me that this will have to get a rubber stamp final vote next week from the council. There is new information tonight about the person who climbed the fence outside the white house last friday and then started sprinting across the lawn to the north portico entrance. Prosecutors say Omar Gonzalez had more than 800 rounds of ammunition in his car along with a machete and two hatchets. There was also a bible. Inside the bible was a map, and the white house was circled. Gonzalez is a 42yearold iraq war veteran, and today he appeared in court, and prosecutors called him a threat. Reporter at the white house, beefed up foot patrols by Uniformed Secret Service agents, and lots of tourists able to get an up close look at the president s home. I wanted to come and take a few pictures. Reporter just a few blocks away, i was there, as Omar Gonzalez, the man secret service says jumped the fence, appeared before a judge. Prosecutors say secret Service Found large amounts of ammunition, and two machetes in his car. The secret service is launching a full review of security. I was really upset. This is why a lot of people come to d. C. Reporter president obama briefly addressed the incident that happened just a few minutes after he and his daughter left the building. She not enter a plea. Emergency personnel were called to her apartment on report of an unresponsive child. The little boy later died at the hospital. Howard was arrested a week ago at a rehab center in hayward. Police say she has a history of drug abuse. Police arrested a man accused of exposing himself to teenage girls. He was taken into custody as he showed up at the Police Department for an unrelated matter. It started when the officer recognized the car in their parking lot. The car was on their radar following two exposure incidents. Police say he may also be involved in a third incident at the caltrain station in downtown san mateo. Police and the community are teaming up after several stores had their windows shattered, and merchandise damaged. Theres now a 3,500 reward up for grabs in hopes of finding the people responsible. Thats because these vandals havent struck just once, but have repeatedly hit their stores. She drives to work on pins and needles. I park out front, and i think, is it shattered . Is it not . Reporter they not only damaged the window, but merchandise inside. The last time it happened . A month ago. Hit three times. The damage costing 5,000. You do feel violated, you do feel violated. You have so much happiness and this store has so much happiness, and when people, when this kind of thing happens, you do kind of feel violated. Its very frustrating. It creates extra work and stress and you obviously dont want it to happen. Reporter coles Restaurant Owner got hit twice. It is overwhelming. The community there, theyre getting upset about this. The Police Department is upset about it. The Business Owners are upset. Reporter the local police foundation, and mayor offered a 2,500 reward initially, larry walker adding another 1,000.
