Reporter adam was unconscious. After 35 minutes of digging crews managed to pull him out. A young man who worked 12 to 13 hours at the night shift at ups then turned around and went to school during the day. Thats all he ever did, school work and finally he graduated to say mom now i have some time. I can rest. Reporter while many people think of danger from waves and water, firefighters say sand is an equal threat. Its extremely unstable sand is in its nature. It obviously collapsed extremely quickly. The two broke into a home on santa ana avenue on july 9 when Police Arrived they found a 53 yearold man with a head injury. Police say the two suspects may be staying in San Francisco in the sunny vale or bellview neighborhood. Police are hoping surveillance images will lead them to a couple that could be responsible for several burglaries. A businesss Surveillance Video caught the women stealing laptops. San francisco voters are going to have an opportunity to weigh in on a proposal that calls for a 2cent per ounce tax on soda and sugary drinks. Rob roth tells us what that proposal could mean for businesses. The motion is approved. Reporter the board of supervisors voted 64 to place the soda tax proposal on the november ballot. The beverage battle is now on. We will definitely lose business. Reporter heres a fizzery which sells 250 types of sodas, the owner is worried about the proposed soda tax. We know visiting the shop after the tax is going to hit everybody a little harder in the pocketbook. The liquid sugar has been shown to have more of complications around health with type two diabetes. Reporter the proposal would levy a tax of 2cents per ounce on sugary drinks including soda, Energy Drinks and some juices. At the fizzery the tax would add several cents to every dollar. The American Beverage Association is expected to spend millions of the dollars to try to defeat it. One supervisor says the tax would hurt some people more than others. I am seriously concerned how this ballot measure attacks on some of the low income communities. Reporter supporters say it will be a tough campaign. We have a history and a great track record of being successful and taking on big meaty and weighted Public Policy issues and winning. Reporter for the tax measure to pass it would be to be approved by 2 3 of the voters. A soda tax measure in richmond failed two years ago. Rob roth, ktvu news. San francisco voters will also get the chance to vote on two new Funding Options for nummi this november. That ties munni funding. The funding would be reassessed each july 1st. The measure would retro actively assess munni. The money will be used for career training, local green initiatives and to send richmond students to college.
