San francisco street sending work crews scrambling and bringing traffic to a stand still. Good afternoon, i am tori campbell, the break happened just before 9 00 on bryant street between division and alameda streets near the neighborhood there, Tara Moriarty is at the scene and they have shut off the water but we understand there is still a big problem. Reporter , thats reporter thats right, you know they did actually have that pipe isolated the first hour after they got here but they are do have the street cordoned off right around from there if you know where that is, because of the potential of a sinkhole. Gallons of water gushed down the street. It was absolutely terrifying. I was afraid it was going to come in the building. Crews pumped out water from the street that was at least three feet high. They broke the water main and it caused the street to flood. They were testing the line when it broke. And they were testing the line and due to the age it probably cracked or split due to the pressure. Crews have been testing a new line in the bay view district, the line where the break occurred feeds water to the fire station there. And when there is a break in the line it can create voids and those voids then can make the street itself collapse. Reporter crews are now digging to try to fix that pipe and we have just learned that there is no sinkhole threat. They just did some tests so one lane here on bryant will be open to through traffic by 5 00 tonight, pg e also says the underground wires pose no danger. Four cars had to be towed, they are in the best plot parking lot in guess you are missing them, and we will have a report on this coming up later tonight at 8 00 and 9 00 and he will have a report on just exactly how old this pipeline is and what the breakage is, for ktvu Tara Moriarty, back to you. Thank you for that report. And we now have a report on the attempted robbery of a liquor store, where the victim and the suspect were throwing bottles at each other and scrambling to escape. And we first brought this to you then, here is a close up look at the suspect, he is described as being 58 and weighing 165 pounds and as you can see he has a hat on backwards that has that on the front and also a tshirt that had that on it. Well, an exciting day for the team usa today down in brazil for the world cup match against germany, and the team usa did lose, however, there is good news for team usa and we have this report from there. How is it going out there . Reporter it is going great, you can tell that the crowd has cleared out here after the usa lost to germany in the match today in the world cup down in brazil, the u. S. Lost 10 to germany, who which scored in the final half but the team usa still scored enough goals to be able to advance and fans watched on both screens. It lacked drama but i am glad we advanced and that is all that matters. It is like not normal like it usually is but maybe when we beat them it will get back to normal. I am glad that we go on and move on and get to play ghana again and i am glad to see that we moved on. A lot of fans called in sick from work today to come down here and watch they have world cup match against germany down in brazil, and they said they have had huge turnouts compared to when the sharks have had a game, now team usas next game is next tuesday, at this point it is undetermined who their next opponent will be, reporting live from here, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. All right, thank you for that report. And the game between them drew a large crowd, fans were happy to see that and were happy to see the usa stay in the tournament. We didnt win but we are advancing and that is all that matters, i mean it would have been nice to have a w or a tie but the important thing is that we advance. And for those of you who cant get enough world cup, they play at 2 00 this afternoon on the big screen. And those lanes were blocked this morning because of an overturned big rig, it snarled track in both directions this morning, the truck plowed through the Center Divider near the northbound exit and all southbound lanes had to be shut down and two northbound lanes as well, the chp says the driver of the truck lost control after swerving to avoid a mini van that had spun out and was stuck in the middle of the highway. Luckily we only had minor injuries, especially since the driver of the mini van was stuck in the middle of the highway and the truck hit him and then turned over, they were lucky. And we learned the driver of the big rig is not facing any charges but we will have a report on that later. And also we are following this report about the man who might be setting the fire, fire investigators say this man is seen at one of the sights where a fire was set, and San Francisco investigators said increasing their resources over the last couple of days, helped them catch their man. He definitely was becoming more brazen lately, so we definitely wanted to get him off the streets. Investigators say he is facing 6 arson counts, no one was hurt but the damage is in the tens of thousands of dollars. And no one is on trial today but they are having a hearing on the case of brian stowe, the giants fan who was attacked at a dodgers game and has been paralyzed ever since. They are suing the park and the team for not providing enough security and they said they had more security than ever and some witnesses testified that brian stowe was drunk and started the fight himself. And they testified that he was not drunk and he did nothing to start the fight. We will bring you more on that later. And now to an update on the airplane crash there we first brought you yesterday and one person was killed, the medical examiner said it was external fire that killed the pilot, and they tried to get to him earlier but the flames kept them away from the plane. And we are also following a report of a woman who was attacked by a mugger there, the woman was attacked from behind and described her attacker as mixed race, about 6 feet tall with hair and wearing that. They want you to keep a close watch on your surroundings and be safe. And they are having a hearing on the president exchanging the prisoners for bowe bergdahl, and they said the reason was because they were in recess when they acted and there was no time to wait, but the ruling was that the congress decides when they are in session and there was no recess when the president made the exchange. And now we have this report from mark tamayo about your forecast. We are expecting a front to come in bringing a cool change to the weather and cooling us off. A front is headed for the area, bringing changes to the temperatures and meteorologist mark tamayo has your latest forecast and we also have a report on that after the break. And many come to the bridge to enjoy the beautiful view, but many come to the span to try to end their life and we have a story about the efforts to stop people from committing suicide by jumping off the span there and Sal Castaneda has this report from there. Reporter good morning tori or good afternoon i guess it is now, we are here at the Golden Gate Bridge where they are holding a hearing on how to stop people from committing suicide by jumping off the bridge, and they are discussing a plan to stop them from jumping, and they want to erect a barrier to stop them from jumping, and also maybe a net below to catch them if they jump, and we also have this report from a survivor who jumped off the bridge. And we also are following Hillary Clinton as she visits the bay area for a book signing at a book store and she said she is eagerly looking forward to meeting people and signing her books but the people she will be meeting already know who they want to run for president.
