. good afternoon, i am brian flores in for tori campbell. >> this is read in the courtroom, guilty. two gang members in the death of this boy. >> noelle is there with the details. noelle? >> reporter: they include first degree murder and attempted murder. they had gang enhancements which adds time to the sentencing. sometimes these verdicts can be emotional and without the victim's family in the courtrooms, today was very matter of fact. >> it took more than 15 minutes for the clerk to read all the verdicts in the trial of two gang members. lawrence denard and willie torrents suspected in the death of this 3-year-old boy. >> feelings when you heard the verdict. >> grateful for justice. grateful for the jury and the time and attention they paid. and again, my thoughts and condolences go out to all the victims in the case. >> little carlos nava was shot and killed when he was hit by a stray bullet as he, his brother and mother walked to a local grocery store. >> intended targets were rival street gang. >> number of deputies were inside for the verdict. afterward, defense attorneys had little or nothing to say. >> no, but thanks for asking. >> we are deeply disappointed by the verdict. it is not appropriate to make any comments at this time. deeply disappointed by the verdict. >> the defendant's family and friends left without comment. some in tears. > >> reporter: the defendants are now 25 and 29 years-old. they face life in prison when they come back for sentencing on july 22nd. reporting live in oakland, noelle walker. >> thank you for the update. we have an update on a bay area wide prostitution sweep. it played out over several nights and dozens of arrests and rescuing several girls. we look at the this. deborah? >> reporter: this is called operation cross country and moments ago at 17th and international, we got the bay area results. >> 70 prostitutes and six minors rescued from prostitution. we got a look at one sting operation on the first night of enforcement. this hotel, where a decoy posed as a john and women advertising sex on line came to his room. officers were watching on the camera. as soon as the deal was made, they came in to and prehen the prostitute and her alleged pimp awaiting in the parking lot outside. out of five women taken into custody one was a juvenile. the minors are offered social services and advocacy to find a way out of the sex trade. it is akin to modern day slavery. >> the selling of children for sex does not reflect itself to geographic boundaries. we see children moved from our county to san francisco county to marin county. throughout the state and in fact, throughout the nation. >> these may just be numbers or statistics but we remember behind each one of the numbers, each one of those stats is a person and a life. >> reporter: operation cross country was held in 100 cities and here in the bay area from san rafael to san jose in hotels and out on the streets. 200 children were arrested. and 300 pitches arrested. what makes teenager lure into the life and make it difficult to leave it. that's the question we explored when we were embedded on the sting. i will have it for you tonight at six. reporting live in oakland, deborah villalon. an elementary school teacher accused of sexual molestation. we have tails on the opening statements in the case. tara, we understand you spoke to the mother of one of the victims. >> reporter: she said both of her boys suffered physical abuse and it was the emotional abuse. the victims say the molestation happened on a day to day basis over an extended period of time. they were allowed inside the courtroom and this one of joseph martin, the schoolteacher smiling at the camera. it took the judge 13 minutes to read the counts of child molestation against him. the prosecution in an opening statement read a letter written by martin. and said. ", dearest father, before this, i was living for myself and to gratify me and feed my sinful desires. help me not to get arrested and not go to jail and not to be charged with any crimes. >> just did he have vast stat tated and -- devastated and manipulated and incredibly sad. people who do this are really, really good at this. we know that and my husband and i feel a lot of the guilt. that we missed a lot of things. >> reporter: jones told us about the reason she decided to come forward and share her family's story. >> the more you talk about something, the more you can work the issue out. and i really wanted to have the boys know there was no shame attached to any of this. that the shame is on the person who caused these acts. martin who taught third and fourth grade in concord is accused of molesting 14 students over a seven year stretch starting in 2006. he faces life in prison if convicted. we will have much more on the story coming up. allie rasmus was able to interview the and multiple city boulevard. now pg&e crews have secured the leak. well the house is gone and the fire danger is not. firefighters will be at the scene all day from a destructive fire in orinda, it started this morning on terri lane in a house. the homeowner called 911 after smelling smoke and seeing flames come from a bedroom on the lower level. the home was built on stilts. the home was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. this caused the home to collapse into the canyon below. the garage was the only part that didn't fall. >> there is brush around and that is one of the reasons we will keep firefighters out here throughout the day and into tonight and tomorrow. three people who live in the house got out safely. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. tomorrow, the national transportation safety board is expected to release the cause of the crash at 214 at sfo one year ago. it is set to be released at a hearing in washington d.c., they pointed to pilot error and killed three people and injured 200 others. >> the triple boeing 777 was flying lower than intended. it hit the seawall and spun around and burst into flames. >> you can watch live coverage of the where the accident happened. >> now, you can see they have a memorial here where people have left flowers and candles, all for 51-year-old michael felter. he lived in one of the apartment complexes here. police say at nine being he was walking a neighbor's dog and some how it good loose. it ran across the light rail trackses and stokes avenue. filter followed and got hit by a southbound train. the vta said the guardrails were down at the time of the collision. he died and the dog he was chasing after survived. the train was taken to the yard and inspected as party of the investigation. >> this morning we spotted many dog walkers in the area and they said it will make them more cautious. >> you have to make a snap decision. so, who knows what i would do. i feel sad to hear that that
