Reporter i just spoke with nick last night and said he never meant to worry lublins. He was worried more about us than himself. Which is very typical of nick. Hes extremely selfless person. He said the plan trip to the sierra was meant to show his kids to abandoned mining towns with enough water, food and supplies for a week they ventured out and were nearly at their destination when they came across a tree with no way around it. Thats when nick says he made the mistake of finding an alternative route instead of turning back. After a few dead ends, they reached soft dirt it caused thered truck to slide down an embankment and get scott stuck. In hindsight he says he shouldve hung her down hunkered down instead of going. He wanted to get the message out that he was safe. And he wasnt able to do that. That was what was worrying him the most. Reporter next line from the childrens mother is visiting relatives out of state, shes been in touch with nick he told her not to worry, just finish your trip, and tonight the family is privately celebrating the homecoming. San mateo bridge remains closed tonight. It will remain closed through 5 00 a. M. Monday. So that crews can resurface that entire bridge and apply a layer of protective covering and do some Electrical Work as well as some routine cleaning. This is not something you see everyday folks.
