operations in limited circumstances such as rescue operations or the use of special operations forces to take military action against extremist leadership >> an alleged plot to kill dozens of people in canada. the target was the halifax shopping center. one of the busiest places in the city. a 23-year-old american woman and 23-year-old canadian face charges of conspiracy to commit murder. both were arrested early friday morning at the hal fox international airport. police say crimestoppers tipped them off and the tip led them to a home where they found another person that committed suicide as police moved in. they also found three rifles. >> what i can tell you, this appeared to be a group of murderous misfits that were living here, preparing to wreak havoc and mayhem on our community. >> the planned attack does not appear to be motivated by terrorism. >> >> wall of flames yesterday little of a san jose building. the fire is out, but the cleanup and the investigation on how the blaze started continues. alis are musen was at the site of the fire. >> reporter: rows of burned up melted up hole i have 25 feet high in some spots. this synthetic material fanned the flames of a five alarm fire in san jose. more than 24 hours after it started. firefighters continued to work on hot spots. the building owner came back to the site this morning to take pictures of the damage. two businesses were wrecked in here. a car stereo shop which used the space to store a collection of cars. this is all that was left of them after the fire. the building owner estimated the value was over a million dollar. >> i was scruff surprised because i thought i came on the wrong place. this was not the scene that i want to see, you know? >> reporter: the fire burned so hot for so long that no one could access the building. >> they will look through the building to see if they can determine if he cause or find any evidence. >> a back hoe and dump truck were brought in >> the building has a lot of collapse hazards. the center part of the roof collapsed. high pile of debris in there. >> firefighters did allow some people to come back and retrieve belongings >> i lost my apartment so i had to bring my stuff here. >> i'm surprised -- >> his daughter fish survived the fire. his overnight shift ended an hour before the fire broke out, saying he did not notice anything unusual before he our south closer to monterrey bay, patchy fog developing. a little switch in the wind over the next few days, more of an onshore wind and with that, we'll cool things off beginning tomorrow and the trend will continue over the next few days. these were minor changes, coming up in a few minutes, we'll look at the forecast highs in your neighborhood and we'll let you know if we have any rain clouds to talk about in the five-day forecast. >> >> thank you. >> >> the pilot of a single-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a golf course. it lost power just before 1:00 this afternoon shortly after takeoff. the pilot brought the plane down, as you see on the pictures, right on its belly. managing to avoid some of the golfers out there playing some golf at the time. no one was hurt and the cause of the plane's mechanic cam problems is under investigation. >> >> homicide detectives in san jose searching for clues after a deadly shooting last night, it happened on north capital avenue. when officers arrived, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound, taken to the hospital where he was pronounced debt. right now, it's not clear what lead up to the shooting. police have not made any arrests. this is san jose's third homicide so far this year. >> >> u.s. labor secretary is expected to press both sides when he comes to help mediate an agreement. this is what the port of oakland looked like today, almost no activity and countless containers stacked up and waiting to be unloaded the president last week directed the labor secretary to come here to california to help the dock workers and the shipping companies come to a deal, more than two dozen west coast ports are affected. some of the key sticking points include wages, work and safety rules valentine's week and encouraged people to celebrate -- >> speaking of cold weather, u.s. coast guard rescued an australia fishing boat stuck in the ice for days. it made its way through several miles of thick ice. the chief tan out of australia was trapped in the ice 900- yards from land with 26 people aboard. the chief became disabled when three of the four propellors were destroyed by a chunk of forming around monterrey bay, a change in the wind that will have an impact on our temperatures, almost summer- like over the next few days. tracking the ebb and flow of the onshore breeze. it will come back by tuesday. current numbers, santa rosa, 70, san jose, reporting fair skies, current temperature, 70, live camera, looking out, look at that, shield of high clouds moving into the region, adding nice texture to the sky. tomorrow, minor cooling for your monday and then the extended forecast, it will be a dry weather pattern with slight changes to the overall forecast. patchy fog, to mid-70s, 73-74 degrees. you will notice it increases the fog coverage off shore. this will be the key factor as you head into the forecast for monday night and tuesday. everybody cooler, but still a lot of 70s on the forecast map for santa rosa, san francisco, 69 degrees. santa -- and half moon bay, 67, look ahead to your five-day forecast and you can see temperatures cooling off a little bit. still in the upper 60s for tuesday, wednesday, increasing the fog, at least for the morning hours, partly sunny skies and then a bump in the numbers, thursday, friday, looking for the rain clouds, no i'm 94 years old, i have much more to do >> reporter: and a man that just loves life. fox "2 news." great interview, a tree came crashing down in san francisco and it bought down union lines with it. it fell just after 3:00 this afternoon. police closed down the area and crews turned off the power and elevated lines, removed the tree. no one was hurt. >> we know more about the motorcyclist that was killed on highway 1 by a vehicle that drifted into his lane. it happened south of fort ross road. the victim was identified as 44- year-old anthony cruz of vallejo. he was riding with two other motorcyclists when a toyota rav4 drifted across the yellow line and hit them. cruz died at the scene. the others had minor injuries. the crash is still under investigation. >> >> a woman, trying to fly out of lax is nursing a scorpion bite. she was bit on the hand just as the alaska airlines was about to take off. the woman was checked out by medics and did not want any more treatment. the crews searched and found the sworn onand killed it. no word on how it got on the plane. >> >> a cease-fire appears to be holding in much of ukraine, monitors are being kept out of one key government controlled city. today was the first day of the new accord and soldiers say it has been fairly quiet. the shelling has stopped, however, shelling has continued around another town. city of 25,000, a key transport hub and it has been the site of some of the fiercest fighting in recent weeks it's estimated 5400 people have been killed since the conflict erupted in eastern ukraine last april. >> surf is high. waves up to 10 feet at ocean beach and other beaches in the bay area, a lot of people are enjoying the weather. look at all of those folks out there. laying around, enjoying the beautiful temperatures and warm weather we have had in the bay area. i think we'll go to one more place -- looking at market street. the sunshining through the high- rises. beautiful day and people are loving it out there. >> this weather is incredible. i am so happy to have 73 degrees and walking outside without a coat is amazing. >> it is amazing. something you can talk about, though, because we are in the middle of a drought, here we are in mid-february where it is supposed to be raining. >> it it has not for a long time let's check in with our meteorologist mark tomeo and find out if there is any hint of rain -- they are hinting at a big change in the weather pattern by the end of the month into march. there could be a change. it would be consistent with what happens. typically, you get one extreme and another developing. that would could be the case later in the mon. next five months, dry, as far as temperatures, a lot of 70s, even 80s, oakland maxed owl. 80 degrees. san jose, mid-70s, a string of 70s, beach weather for pa civica, morgan hill, 76 degrees. look at the satellite, clouds, arking way up to our north. typically, i would say there is rain toward portland and seattle. that's not the case. look at the jet stream heading way up to our north, as a result, the entire west coast is dry. look at that, capturing this beautiful sun seth. looking out in the distance and relatively calm winds out there, winds 5-10-miles inhour, i think i can stare at this picture for a few minutes, a few high clouds move into the bay area right now. as far as the current temperatures, still mild, san jose, walnut creek in the lower 70s, santa rosa, -p 0, forecast headlines, a little bit of a dropoff in the numbers for tomorrow, more fog tuesday morning. i use feel like i'm in the middle of june or july with the pattern developing. tracking the fog and dry weather pattern we are talking about that will continue. starting out monday in the low 40s. could have some patchy fog in the north bay valley. patchy coastal fog. it has been a warm weekend so far, we'll cool things off in the order of two to five degrees as the area of high pressure begins to weaken and move to the east. we'll see more of an onshore breeze. patchy fog developing. monday night into tuesday, but still dry, the storm track not getting south as all. the dry weather pattern continues, right on through next weekend. here's our forecast. the model we'll take this into the 12:00 hour tomorrow and showing you the hundreds of patchy fog closer to monterrey bay off lower shore as well. look what happens monday night, coastline, into tuesday morning, get the idea with the presence of the low cloud deck and the stronger onshore breeze, we'll cool thins off in the tuesday forecast. these are all just a few minor changes. the beaches won't be nearly as warm as they were yesterday and today. numbers for tomorrow, fairfield, 72, more neighbors around the rim of the bay showing lower 70s, livermore, 73, santa fe, 72. and san francisco, 69 degrees. here is a look ahead to your five-day forecast, with temperatures shave off a little bit tuesday and wednesday and we'll warm things back up for thursday and friday, with your weekend in view for day six and day seven, no rain clouds, more of an off shore wind developing. we are talking about the potential weather change at the end of the mon. it could be cool enough based on the number, we would have snow in the bay area hills t could be enough for record heat, a couple of weeks for a bit of a winter wonderland. >> that in canada. the target was the halifax shopping center. one of the busiest places in the city. a 23-year-old american woman and 23-year-old canadian face charges of conspiracy to commit murder. both were arrested early friday morning at the hal fox international airport. police say crimestoppers tipped them off and the tip led them to a home where they found another person that committed suicide as police moved in. they also found three rifles. >> what i can tell you, this appeared to be a group of murderous misfits that were living here, preparing to wreak havoc and mayhem on our community. >> the planned attack does not appear to be motivated by terrorism. >> >> wall of flames yesterday little of a san jose building. the fire is out, but the cleanup and the investigation on how the blaze started continues. alis are musen was at the site of the fire. >> reporter: rows of burned up melted up hole i have 25 feet high in some spots. this synthetic material fanned the flames of a five alarm fire in san jose. more than 24 hours after it started. firefighters continued to work on hot spots. the building owner came back to the site this morning to take pictures of the damage. two businesses were wrecked in here. a car stereo shop which used the space to store a collection of cars. this is all that was left of them after the fire. the building owner estimated the value was over a million dollar. >> i was scruff surprised because i thought i came on the wrong place. this was not the scene that i want to see, you know? >> reporter: the fire burned so hot for so long that no one could access the building. >> they will look through the building to see if they can determine if he cause or find any evidence. >> a back hoe and dump truck were brought in >> the building has a lot of collapse hazards. the center part of the roof collapsed. high pile of debris in there. >> firefighters did allow some people to come back and retrieve belongings >> i lost my apartment so i had to bring my stuff here. >> i'm surprised -- >> his daughter fish survived the fire. his overnight shift ended an hour before the fire broke out, saying he did not notice anything unusual before he left. >> it's terrible. i'm thankful i'm alive. >> reporter: only good newells after the destructive fire that cost people their livelihood -- 70 degrees and views like this. that's why so many people were out and about in the bay area, another busy day for boaters out there enjoying the great weather. alot of people hit the beaches and went to the parks. mid-february, kind of crazy. >> it is when you look at that shot. yesterday, i talked about i went for a run, skipped the run. i had lunch outside. gorgeous today. >> i think a lot of people had the same idea. a lot of people instead of going to lake tahoe, coming here. a lot of 70s for today, even a few 80s, take a look outside. take a look at some of the highs. santa rosa topped out 76 degrees. concorde, mid-70s, san jose, 75 and you will notice a few records to report. salinas, 81, oakland downtown, 80 degrees. that's topping the old record of 78. sfo new record sit back in 1977, a few high clouds moving in from the north. and to our south closer to monterrey bay, patchy fog developing. a little switch in the wind over the next few days, more of an onshore wind and with that, we'll cool things off beginning tomorrow and the trend will continue over the next few days. these were minor changes, coming up in a few minutes, we'll look at the forecast highs in your neighborhood and we'll let you know if we have any rain clouds to talk about in the five-day forecast. >> >> thank you. >> >> the pilot of a single-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a golf course. it lost power just before 1:00 this afternoon shortly after takeoff. the pilot brought the plane down, as you see on the pictures, right on its belly. managing to avoid some of the golfers out there playing some golf at the time. no one was hurt and the cause of the plane's mechanic cam problems is under investigation. >> >> homicide detectives in san jose searching for clues after a deadly shooting last night, it happened on north capital avenue. when officers arrived, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound, taken to the hospital where he was pronounced debt. right now, it's not clear what lead up to the shooting. police have not made any arrests. this is san jose's third homicide so far this year. >> >> u.s. labor secretary is expected to press both sides when he comes to help mediate an agreement. this is what the port of oakland looked like today, almost no activity and countless containers stacked up and waiting to be unloaded the president last week directed the labor secretary to come here to california to help the dock workers and the shipping companies come to a deal, more than two dozen west coast ports are affected. some of the key sticking points include wages, work and safety rules my house to city hall this morning, there was whiteout conditions a lot of ways in a lot of roads, very, very dangerous out there. >> >> fortunately, this storm hit on a sunday, so kids are not hurting, too. because it's hard to get coffee delivered with all of the snow falls and roads filled with snow. the governor of massachusetts is taking a step to help. he has declared all of next week valentine's week and encouraged people to celebrate -- >> speaking of cold weather, u.s. coast guard rescued an australia fishing boat stuck in the ice for days. it made its way through several miles of thick ice. the chief tan out of australia was trapped in the ice 900- yards from land with 26 people aboard. the chief became disabled when three of the four propellors were destroyed by a chunk of good portion of the west coast. as a result, completely dry and the dry weather pattern will continue into the workweek. a few scattered high clouds moving into the region. in addition to patchy fog, forming around monterrey bay, a change in the wind that will have an impact on our temperatures, almost summer- like over the next few days. tracking the ebb and flow of the onshore breeze. it will come back by tuesday. current numbers, santa rosa, 70, san jose, reporting fair skies, current temperature, 70, live camera, looking out, look at that, shield of high clouds moving into the region, adding nice texture to the sky. tomorrow, minor cooling for your monday and then the extended forecast, it will be a dry weather pattern with slight changes to the overall forecast. patchy fog, tomorrow morning, especially in the north bay valleys. a few could approach the coast coming from the south. coming up from monterrey bay. overnight lows will be starting out your monday in the 40s. main will i will in the 40s to around 50 degrees. here's our future cast. not much in the way of fog for tomorrow. if you can't see here, afternoon hours temperature range from the mid-60s to the low to mid-70s, 73-74 degrees. you will notice it increases the fog coverage off shore. this will be the key factor as you head into the forecast for monday night and tuesday. everybody cooler, but still a lot of 70s on the forecast map for santa rosa, san francisco, 69 degrees. santa -- and half moon bay, 67, look ahead to your five-day forecast and you can see temperatures cooling off a little bit. still in the upper 60s for tuesday, wednesday, increasing the fog, at least for the morning hours, partly sunny skies and then a bump in the numbers, thursday, friday, looking for the rain clouds, no rain clouds in the five-day forecast, but coming you at 5:45, we'll let you know when we could have a change in the weather pattern. coming up. >> >> he served under two republican presidents and now i'm 94 years old, i have much more to do >> reporter: and a man that just loves life. fox "2 news." great interview, a tree came crashing down in san francisco and it bought down union lines with it. it fell just after 3:00 this afternoon. police closed down the area and crews turned off the power and elevated lines, removed the tree. no one was hurt. >> we know more about the motorcyclist that was killed on highway 1 by a vehicle that drifted into his lane. it happened south of fort ross road. the victim was identified as 44- year-old anthony cruz of vallejo. he was riding with two other motorcyclists when a toyota rav4 drifted across the yellow line and hit them. cruz died at the scene. the others had minor injuries. the crash is still under investigation. >> >> a woman, trying to fly out of lax is nursing a scorpion bite. she was bit on the hand just as the alaska airlines was about to take off. the woman was checked out by medics and did not want any more treatment. the crews searched and found the sworn onand killed it. no word on how it got on the plane. >> >> a cease-fire appears to be holding in much of ukraine, monitors are being kept out of one key government controlled city. today was the first day of the new accord and soldiers say it has been fairly quiet. the shelling has stopped, however, shelling has continued around another town. city of 25,000, a key transport hub and it has been the site of some of the fiercest fighting in recent weeks it's estimated 5400 people have been killed since the conflict erupted in eastern ukraine last april. >> polar plunge, the money raised goes to special olympics in wisconsin. >> mr. we wanted to give awe round robin view -- ocean beach, look at all of the people out there enjoying the warm weather, the surf is high. waves up to 10 feet at ocean beach and other beaches in the bay area, a lot of people are enjoying the weather. look at all of those folks out there. laying around, enjoying the beautiful temperatures and warm weather we have had in the bay area. i think we'll go to one more place -- looking at market street. the sunshining through the high- rises. beautiful day and people are loving it out there. >> this weather is incredible. i am so happy to have 73 degrees and walking outside without a coat is amazing. >> it is amazing. something you can talk about, though, because we are in the middle of a drought, here we are in mid-february where it is supposed to be raining. >> it it has not for a long time let's check in with our meteorologist mark tomeo and find out if there is any hint of rain -- they are hinting at a big change in the weather pattern by the end of the month into march. there could be a change. it would be consistent with what happens. typically, you get one extreme and another developing. that would could be the case later in the mon. next five months, dry, as far as temperatures, a lot of 70s, even 80s, oakland maxed owl. 80 degrees. san jose, mid-70s, a string of 70s, beach weather for pa civica, morgan hill, 76 degrees. look at the satellite, clouds, arking way up to our north. typically, i would say there is rain toward portland and seattle. that's not the case. look at the jet stream heading way up to our north, as a result, the entire west coast is dry. look at that, capturing this beautiful sun seth. looking out in the distance and relatively calm winds out there, winds 5-10-miles inhour, i think i can stare at this picture for a few minutes, a few high clouds move into the bay area right now. as far as the current temperatures, still mild, san jose, walnut creek in the lower 70s, santa rosa, -p 0, forecast headlines, a little bit of a dropoff in the numbers for tomorrow, more fog tuesday morning. i use feel like i'm in the middle of june or july with the pattern developing. tracking the fog and dry weather pattern we are talking about that will continue. starting out monday in the low 40s. could have some patchy fog in the north bay valley. patchy coastal fog. it has been a warm weekend so far, we'll cool things off in the order of two to five degrees as the area of high pressure begins to weaken and move to the east. we'll see more of an onshore breeze. patchy fog developing. monday night into tuesday, but still dry, the storm track not getting south as all. the dry weather pattern continues, right on through next weekend. here's our forecast. the model we'll take this into the 12:00 hour tomorrow and showing you the hundreds of patchy fog closer to monterrey bay off lower shore as well. look what happens monday night, coastline, into tuesday morning, get the idea with the presence of the low cloud deck and the stronger onshore breeze, we'll cool thins off in the tuesday forecast. these are all just a few minor changes. the beaches won't be nearly as warm as they were yesterday and today. numbers for tomorrow, fairfield, 72, more neighbors around the rim of the bay showing lower 70s, livermore, 73, santa fe, 72. and san francisco, 69 degrees. here is a look ahead to your five-day forecast, with temperatures shave off a little bit tuesday and wednesday and we'll warm things back up for thursday and friday, with your weekend in view for day six and day seven, no rain clouds, more of an off shore wind developing. we are talking about the potential weather change at the end of the mon. it could be cool enough based on the number, we would have snow in the bay area hills t could be enough for record heat, a couple of weeks for a bit of a winter wonderland. >> that
