Fairly widespread along highway 101. To the east we have some in napa around american canyon. Stretching into San Francisco. Crossing over the bay bridge into the east today. Between oakland and san leandro along 880 we find wet roads. Into the second part of the day the system will continue to march our way. By 11 am it comes study and the stormiest conditions expected the second part of the afternoon into early evening. The full forecast coming up. In a nutshell the showers turn into heavy rain and strong winds to the second part of your saturday. In the city forecast more rain is on the way tomorrow. As you heard rosemary say we will feel the full brunt of the storm later this afternoon into the early evening. While we need the rain the storm could cause problems. Street flooding is a possibility and so are Power Outages. Made is on the phone. From pg e there have been some reported Power Outages already overnight. Where they rather related . We look at our system and did a few hundred outages overnight. Were working to restore those now. Pg e has a plan to restore Power Outages safely and quickly as possible. But as rosemary said the storm will hit hard this Late Afternoon into the evening. Our customers could expect to see some outages. Share with us some of the plan. Are crews on standby . Extra crews . Thats right. We start with our weather folks who have a great model that helps us predict storm outages. They use different data sources and help us estimate the timing and location and number of outages. And then we turn that information and use it to do a few things. We open our local Emergency Response centers here in the bay area and throughout the service area. We also have crews staged to respond safely and as quickly as possible. If we have an hour people who experience Power Outages what is the turnaround time for getting the folks back online . We are out there and will be responding to the outages. Until we see what the storm is, we cannot say exactly the turnaround but we do have the right number of cruise in the right place to respond. We want to remind our customers first of all stay safe if there are downed power lines consider them energized and stay away and call 911 or pg e at 800743 5000. In the future its late for people to now but if they have trees close to power lines but i have the next storm think about getting it trimmed to prevent future problems right . Yes. And on any day we have 650 contract tree crews keeping tree limbs away from power lines and especially after several years of drought the tree mortality we see in california is essential this year. One of the Major Concerns of course is backed up grades. Great. Sometimes debris can get over the great and it can hamper the water from going down and shedding properly anything get a huge backup. Ive seen them in San Francisco before and all over the place. We see gigantic puddles of water that then back up into homes or businesses. Dpw crews have been leaving facilities this morning and will be clearing drains like this. If youre looking for a diy project yourself, today in anticipation of the storm if you have a drain similar to this be sure it is clear from leaves or debris. So the water does not back up and start flooding. We are expecting again a lot of rain. And this is exactly what we were talking about this morning he said we would see spotty rain and thats what we are seeing already. My folks go down to the service area to pick up sandbags to the need to bring anything with them . Reporter they will need to prove they are a San Francisco resident. We will find out what they need to have with them if a shovel or anything like that. My guess is they make it as easy as possible so they will have the sandbags and materials to make your own sandbags or get out as quickly as possible because the idea is to get people in and out and on the way so they can protect themselves against the rain. The little lake in san jose was supposed to have an opening Day Festivities today but it was canceled because of the rain. We are down here at dpw at the intersection of kansas and marin in San Francisco. This will open up in about 30 minutes so folks can come down and pick up sandbags. The idea being if youre concerned about the rain coming up into your home or your business you can put sandbags in front to stop the rain from coming in. Earlier we had some video of cruise leaving and will be working this morning anticipation of the storm. One of the big things they will do is clearing storm drains to make sure they are clear so you dont get the water pooling and backing up thats when the problems can happen is when the storm drains get backed up you see a huge pool of water accumulate quickly if you get into peoples houses or businesses. Going back to live shot this is what we are talking about. This is one of the storm drains. You can see the water is starting to pour into this one and there is some plastic and debris on top. When this happens the problem is that when the water rushes in a cannot get down fast enough and it can back up into the intersection. The city is going out now to clear drains like this one. If you have a dream like this near your house its a good 80 to maintain your own drain if its near you. It affects use of the ideas you can get out with a rake and a garbage bag and clear the debris to make sure it is clear out rain does come down later on, it has someplace to go. Santa clara county sheriff laurie smith is responded to critics who is she says implied a recent jail fight was staged the fight was captured on video cameras just installed the day before and paid for by the sheriff herself. The door the retired judge who heads the county Jail Reform Commission insinuated the fight was staged for the cameras. She has accusing us of criminal conduct.
