We begin in pleasanton where protesters are gathered at the entrances to the alameda Sheriffs Office. They are protesterring the urban shield training exercise. Ktvus alex savidge is joining us live to tell us why the protesters, alex, want to disrupt the big event. And a major demonstration, unfolding here in pleasanton this morning. We are outside the front entrance to the Alameda County fairgrounds and in demonstration is being organized by the stop shield organization. They believe the exercise promotes the militarization of police. At 7 00 this morning, this group youre looking at here, 15 protesters chained themselves together and chained themselves to the front entrance trying to shut down this event today. Theres also a lot of other people who right now are not here at this location. Let me show you video. A whole crowd of people. Several hundred people took off and began to march around the perimeter of the fairgrounds, where again, this urban shield training event is taking place, getting underway today, and this is a training event where s. W. A. T teams from the various departments come and practice responses to emergencies. They say this is important to train for mass shootings, earthquakes, thing of that nature. I talked to one of the protesters, chained to the front entrance about why shes here. Were here to demand a stop for urban shield conference and whats at the core of that is a demand that police stop terrorizing and harassing our community. They stop militarizing Community Police forces and that they stop enacting military tactics. As far as the impact of the event, the fairgrounds is quite large and they have other entrances and emergency areas. Thats the big thing for us, if theres an emergency inside that we have the ability to, you know, get in there and respond to those emergencies. Reporter im told by members of the Law Enforcement billion Alameda County Sheriffs Office that the event is planned inside despite whats happening out front. Organizers say this is vital training to train for those mass casualty training situations and other sorts of emergencies. These exercises they have drawn protests in years past when they were in oakland, when the urban shield training events were held in oakland, and this year we are seeing an especially large demonstration here with this event being held at the Alameda County fairgrounds. The scene you have here. Demonstrators have chained themselves to a number of entrances to the fairgrounds today trying to stop this urban shield event and this protest we are to go told will go on until noon today. Police are not taking any action, letting the demonstration carry on in a peaceful way. Just to clarify, the rally will go onto noon or the people chained there are just going to take after at noon as well. Are they planning on staying later. Reporter thats my understanding. I was speaking with someone, and they tell me the protest is going to go until noon. I said, so these folks, i guess, are going to unchain themselves at noon, and that sounds like that is the plan. There you go. All right. Alex savidge live in pleasanton. Thank. Three hours from now, we will learn whether several officers involved in the Police Misconduct scandal will be charged. Brian flores joins us with the announcement. This is a growing scandal. Dozens of officers from different bay area Law Enforcement agencies were expected. Alameda District Attorney and expected to announce whether any Law Enforcement officers will face charges in this scandal. There is a press conference scheduled for noon today at the courthouse off fallon street in oakland. Nancy omalley will let us know if she plans on filing charges against the officers involved or not. Youll recall on wednesday, oakland mayor libby schaaf announced plans to fire four officers, suspend several others and send one to counseling and training. 19yearold celeste guap said she had sex with officers at times while she was under age, and according to the investigation, the officers involved there helped guap avoid arrest for prostitution and lied to investigators. Livermore police say they became aware of the officers involvement in june. An officer was placed on administrative leave and quit about a week ago after an internal review. Theres a statement there from the police chief. As for celeste guap, she continues to be at a Rehab Facility in florida. Guys back to you. Brian, thank you. Celeste guap she could find out if shes going to be charged with battery in connection with an incident at that facility in florida. Brian was talking about, guap was arrested last week after she allegedly attacked and bit a Security Guard who was trying to bring her back to the rehab center that she has been attending for substance abuse. The east bay times reports that the state Attorneys Office will consider filing charges today. And the paper reports that richmond officials facilitated sending guap to florida to receive treatment. The city of oakland will hold a meeting to get public input on selecting a police chief. The meeting will be held at noon in the schools cafeteria. Young people in particular are being encouraged to come and share their concerns and talk about what they want to see in the next police chief. There will also be several other Community Meetings where people can give their opinions later this morning or this month. Voters in North Carolina can start submitting mail in ballots in the president ial race. 37 states will allow some sort of early voting before election day on november 8th. Thats Hillary Clinton and donald trump out on the campaign trail trying to win support. A new swing state poll shows florida, North Carolina, ohio, and pennsylvania all within the margin of error. For trump to win, hes going to have to win all the states that mitt romney won, and on top of that, hes going to have to win pennsylvania, florida, and ohio. So unless those states work out for him. Hes not going to win. And then there is libertarian candidate gary johnson, he wants to be included in the upcoming president ial debates. In an interview yesterday, he was unable to answer a question about the city of aleppo, and syria which has been at the heart of the civil war there. Its not clear what kind of damage this will do to his campaign. Facebook cofounder Dustin Moskowitz is donating 20,000 to help democrats and Hillary Clinton in the election in november. In a blog post, compelled to act, moskowitz says this is the first time he and his wife have endorsed a candidate or contributed to a campaign. He says hes throwing his support behind Hillary Clinton because if donald trump wins quote, the country will fall back wards and become more isolated from the global community. New at nine, just about 20 minutes ago, the house of representatives passed a controversial bill allowing the families of september 11th september 11th victims to sue saudi arabia in u. S. Courts. The passed legislation in may, and that means it now goes to president obama who has said publicly he would veto the bill. However congress may have enough votes to override the president s veto because there are democrats as well as republicans who support the bill. There has been suspicion that saudi was in some way supportive of the 9 11 attacks. 15 of the 19 hijackers were from saudi arabia. A Security Camera captured these images you are looking at. They are hard to see at first. You can see someone lighting, then throwing molotov cocktails at a home on Mccormick Court wednesday morning. The family inside heard the commotion. They ran outside. They put out the fire. Thats when they also saw that their house had been spray painted with a swastika and a racial slur. Yesterday, the mayor of antioch gave the community a message from that homeowner. That one bad seed does not destroy her faith in antioch or the members of this community. She wanted to thank the community for reaching out to her, and she wanted to let everyone know that shes going to be okay. Mayor harper also said antioch residents should not have to live in fear. So far the police do not have a suspect in this hate crime. The San Jose City council is now considering a gun law for the city. It would toughen requirements for buying a gun reporting when theyre stolen, and it would require san jose gun stores to record all ammunition sales in an electronic log. Critics say this proposal is impractical, hard to enforce, and it wont stop violent crime. If its approved by the city council, the law would put san jose among oakland, San Francisco and sunnyvale as bay area cities that have local gun control laws tonight, an antiviolence group will hold a candlelight vigil in san pablo in memory of a pregnant woman and her unborn child killed earlier this week. 18yearold ilasia mccoy was shot and killed monday night. She was 7 months pregnant. Her baby did not survive. Police say ms. Mccoy was shot during a fright involving friends and the father of her unborn child. 21yearold luis jr. Was arrested and Luciano Duarte turned himself into police. Tonight at five, that group will hold a vigil in her memory at their center on 23rd street in san pablo. A man who went fishing in southwest florida almost did not make it back. 24yearold steve moon was in the water near fort myers on wednesday. He was trying to attract fish with bait he bought. He got stuck near a sand bar and ten sharks tried to move in. He says some of them came within a foot of him. I saw them out of the corner of my eye come toward my leg, and i was able to just see the back of him, you know, and im like, yeah, thats a 7foot shark. Moon spent the next 90 minutes fending off the sharks with a fishing rod. At lastable to reach a fire rescue surgery with the emergency button. The coast guard came by, rescued him ten minutes later. The Bridge School benefit has taken place every october for the last 30 years. The school is in hillsboro, and its executive director told us a lot of people know about the concert. Not much is known about the children and families. And this morning, ktvus amber lee introduces us to the real stars of the show. In a tranquil setting surrounded by trees, bridge, a small School Provides a bridge for severely disabled children to thrive out in the world. The students have Cerebral Palsy and those at the school cannot talk or walk. A first step, children ages 3 to 12 are equipped with a motorized walker, so they can stand tall. The start of a journey to dispel stereotypes so the students can prove that physical disabilities do not mean mental impairment. Something the mother of this 7 yearold wants the world to know. He can think, he can communicate. He understands everything that youre saying around him, including if youre talking about him. Staff members pay close attention to small gestures, a smile or the tilt of the head are ways these children can express a desire or a reaction. You look at what the kids can do and then what they need to be able to do, and major job is to build that our job is to build that knowledge. Reporter inside the classroom, the school staff teaches the child to use a communication device they call a talker. The child is urged to use whatever physical ability he or she has, eye movements or hand gestures to spell out words. The talker translates the movements into a voice. 7, 8, 9, 10. You did it. The Police Department hopes the public can help identify a person that investigators want to question. Janine de la vega reports from San Jose Police headquarters with whats on that new video. Its been a challenging case for police and in this new video, it does show a mans face. It is blurry. Detectives are hoping somebody recognizes him. Check out this Surveillance Video showing a man in dark clothing strolling by on a street. Police want to know who he is and talk to him about what happened in late july on willow and sherman street. Police say 37yearold david moglen was gunned down by a suspect who had robbed him on the street. Moglen chased him and thats when the detectives he fired. Moglen talk economics at Foothills College in los altos. He left behind a wife and two small children. Police are hoping to give them some closure. For now, they are hoping that the public steps up to help them on this case. Reporting from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu fox 2 news. A san jose man has filed a civil lawsuit against Valley Fair Mall and two Security Guards after he says one of the guards pulled a gun on him after hitting a traffic cone. This video was provided by attorney nor nicholas buchanan. The second guard threatens to break the window unless buchanan unlocked door. The lawsuit claims the guard who drew the gun was not licensed to carry a firearm at the time. The city of San Francisco plans to install speed bumps after the death of a cyclist, 41yearold Heather Miller was struck and killed by a car in june along jfk drive. In the wake of the tragedy, mayor ed lee asked the city to fast track improvements. People are going about 7 to 9 Miles Per Hour over the speed limit on jfk drive, and we are putting forward prove evens to make sure proven efforts to make sure we are reducing the speed. A public hearing on the issue is set for next friday. A major Sponsorship Agreement is set to be announced today that will allow the Bay Area Bike Share Program to complete the expansion of the fleet to 7000 bikes across the bay area. Expansion of the 3yearold program was approved last year. Right now, there are 700 bikes in the program. With this announcement, the program can expand to oakland, berkeley, and emeryville at no cost to taxpayers. A News Conference is scheduled for 10 00 a. M. Tara moriarty joining us live, and tara, the former 49er bruce miller set to make a Court Appearance today in connection with that alleged assault from earlier this week. Reporter thats right. The shocking thing, the thing that everybody is talking about, mike, is the fact that the prosecutors are alleging that miller used the cane from the 70yearold victim in order to beat him four days ago. Now, surveillance that we brought you first here on ktvu shows a bloodied and drunk miller stumbling around the hotel, just minutes after the alleged assault happened. Police say miller had tried to enter the wrong room at the marriott on columbus avenue across the street where where this was shot, and ended up punching the 70yearold man and his son. I spoke to the victims wife a few days ago. She said she wanted to remain anonymous because the family was truly scared by miller and called the attack more than a drunken rage. Miller also got into a fight earlier that evening at tommys joint when he supposedly tried to steal someones sandwich. Reportedly hell be arraigned at 1 30 this afternoon. Youve got to. But yeah, i watched his stand up, and i was like, that looks easy, i went and tried it. It was not easy. I was like, man, this is a good challenge. So now im doing it. What kind of help or influence have your Famous Family members been in your life . Judgment, yeah a lot of judgment. Honesty. I dont like that. Yeah, theyre good, though, they have a lot of sound advice. Its cool to see people that have done it before you, makes it seem more attainable. Does it make it harder in one sense. Just because youre part of the talented family, doesnt mean youll be born with the skill. Have you had to work at it, does it come naturally. Comedy is learned behavior. You learn rhythm and timing, so theres so many wayans, you get to see it and learn it. It definitely takes work. Especially stand up. Stand up is a solo sport, you and an audience that you have to entertain. Perfect strangers you have to make laugh at what you think is funny. When you come to the bay area, and do three shows, youre prepping ahead of time, or bringing a show to a different city or integrate what youre performing. I definitely integrate. A lot of it is a set, you know, you have a set that you travel with it and you adjust. Whatever happens in the crowd will also change things. Its a lot of fun. Very organic. That makes you a better actor . It makes me a better comedian. I dont necessarily think it makes me a better actor because like acting, you share. Youre sharing a scene. Stand up is just like you, all about you. And you only get one take, you better hit. If you dont hit, you get judged. Your dad is on a new fox show lethal weapon. Did he outgown you for that role. We talked about it during the break, comedy versus tv. You definitely like the tv film idea party. Can you tell us why. I like the consistency of tv. Its like a nine to five kind of. You get that weekly check, you know what im saying. Job security. But the movies are cool because i feel like more people get to potentially see it if its a successful movie. Whens the last time you saw your dad. We write each other. Stamp, mail. Throw it in the ocean. I did that on the way out. I did that on my wedding night. I put a love letter in a coke bottle in the hotel room, floating in the tub or whatever, rose pedals, thats the only time i have done that. I do the exact same thing with my father. Should be a scene in a movie. Hell be like call me up, put on something nice. Has your dad seen you roasting him on stage, and what does he say enter he gives me like tags, extra jokes to add onto the joke. He doesnt mind. He knows what he did to me.
