beautiful sky out there. we do have some late -- light rain at the northbay. this is a gorgeous view. temperatures this morning are mild at 59 degrees in santa rosa. low 60s in san francisco. oakland, livermore and san jose are at 65 degrees. there is a little bit of a breeze out there. we are looking at a transition to wet weather in the hours to come. the northbay is already seeing some of this. let's see where we are seeing light to moderate rain. off the coastline and further to the north, lake county is getting some of that. can pick up on a few yellows here. there are a few scattered showers. this will march cross -- across the bay area by about noon time. here's a look at futurecast. it has slowed down some. it is creeping into the east bay and down along the and insula. at 10 am a little bit further south. by noon time san jose and morgan hill. behind that, we will see scattered showers for the entire day and a slight chance of thunderstorms which could include hail. this afternoon it just continues with the on and off light showers. if you are card to the raiders or niners game, you may need raingear. we will see you taper off as we get into the evening hours. a second wave will move through overnight and into monday morning. the afternoon high will be in the 60s. mid-sixties in hayward. upper 60s in livermore. we will have some snow in the sierras we will talk about the rainfall we expect to get with the system and what to expect if you are traveling today coming up. chp officers late saturday night arrested a hit-and-run suspect who caused a collision that killed four people on westbound interstate highway 80 at san pablo dam road in san pablo, according to chp officials. at 11:45 p.m., chp officials announced on social media that the suspect was apprehended. the contra costa county sheriff's office assisted in the arrest. the collision was reported at 8:11 p.m. on highway 80 at the san pablo dam road off-ramp. the collision involved five vehicles and the suspect had fled the scene, chp officials said. four people died in the collision and six were injured, chp officials said. a sig-alert was issued at 9:22 p.m. because all westbound lanes of highway 80 are blocked near the collision. all lanes of the roadway were reopened just after 3:30 a.m., and the sig-alert was canceled. >> reporter: good morning. all westbound lanes of the 80 freeway were reopened. as you can see, traffic is moving with no problems. late last night it was a much different scene. the accident that you mentioned closed that side of the freeway for seven hours. this is cell phone video of the crash. this was eight p.m. saturday night. multiple vehicles were involved . four people in one car were killed. 6 others were injured in this accident. the driver who caused the crash left the scene. chp officers and sheriffs deputies arrested him shortly before midnight. the name of the suspect and those skilled have not been released -- those killed have not been released. we have been reaching out to the chp trying to get more information. i will have an update for you at the bottom of the hour. back to you. >> thank you. chp is investigating a deadly crash involving a motorhome just after 9:00 last night. state highway 116, you could see it on the map, a small toyota and motorhome crashed. one person died at the hospital. there is no word what led up to that crash. a man was arrested after a human skull was found inside his trunk. joshua would davis was arrested thanksgiving night after being pulled over. investigators say they found drugs behind a sealed door and a human skull in a bag in his trunk. school looked like it had been recently -- the skull looked like it had been recently dug up. investigators are trying to figure out not say exactly where the explosion happened, but neighbors tell us it is near lilac street and oleander avenue on bay farm island of alameda. the postal service inspector confirms the package was delivered to the home by the usps. the postal inspection service tells ktvu it is staying tight- lipped about the incident during the investigation. the contents of the package have been shipped to washington for further analysis. alameda police department, alameda county sheriff's department, the atf, and postal inspectors have all responded to the incident. >> reporter: we had a package explode. >> we are ping airtight with the details. >> reporter: a package was detonated and usps is saying little. the fire department confirmed they responded to an explosion at a home. a neighbor investigation. a number of agencies are working on this. the sheriff's department responded. atf responded. postal inspectors have responded. >> reporter: the contents of the package have been shipped to washington for further analysis. they are trying to determine how this package made its way through the postal system with wires exposed. >> that is part of the investigation. we are looking at how it was wrapped. that is all part of the investigation. back to you. a man who survived last month shooting in las vegas has died in a hit and run.>> he was hitchhiking west of las vegas. the driver of a chevy camaro hit him and drove off. it is been a bumpy road for the holiday trolley. it did not run last night due to mechanical problems. it will not run tonight either. the trolley was brought back friday. it is supposed to shuttle between the civic center and the downtown stations. it offers free rides of rum friday through sunday -- from friday through sunday. it should be back in service dropping. the better time to get out of the sierra will be the first part of the day. there is an advisory that the national weather service has issued for areas of the sierra at about or p.m. winds are gusting at 20 miles per hour. san jose has a gust of 21 miles per hour. as far as rain, anywhere from 0.25 to 0.5 inches. the hills could pick up more than that. steady rain is expected today and then it will be on and off through the evening. the winter weather advisory for the sierras goes from 4 pm today until 10 am tomorrow. snow levels will drop to about 4000 feet this evening and tomorrow morning. here's a look at the futurecast model. by 9 pm it moves into south they. it is scaling back just a little bit as far as amounts. there is a possibility. we have a moist boom that is green. the snow level is very high but will drop over the afternoon and tomorrow morning. a winter weather advisory starts at or p.m. and expires tomorrow at 10 am. we could get a foot of snow at some were killed and ask people seriously injured -- six people seriously injured. the man who caused this accident left the scene. he was arrested shortly before midnight. investigators are trying to connection with a dui crash that killed an 89-year-old woman on thanksgiving day. that happened on montreux avenue thursday night. 89-year-old shaw was a passenger . she was taken to the hospital where she died. a 21-year-old was arrested. he was the driver in one are -- car. a man in santa rosa is searching for the owners of two photo albums found in the rubble of the fire. mr. george found average 70 six dollars each. prices are a little bit higher here in the bay area. growers are blaming the 2007 recession. >> reporter: christmas tree experts inspect dozens of pine trees to find the perfect one to bring home. look at the price tag. parents may feel sticker shot. >> they are up by at least $10 from last year.>> reporter: most christmas trees here come from oregon. there is a shortage. >> we had a list of every tree grower. we started calling. >> they called more than 100 tree farms and found that this year we only had one. the piedmont boy scouts got 1400 trees, less than what they asked for. they had to raise the price by $10 on certain trees. >> during the great recession, more trees were cut and planted. the economy crashed. we heard that they stopped growing trees or they cut down on the number that they group.>> reporter: oregon trees were cut down to plant marijuana instead. >> this is our first crap -- crop. >> reporter: these tree growers hope to not have to rely on organ trees. >> anybody who wants a charlie brown tree is ready to -- welcome to get them. last year we sold out by december 16. customers should come by sooner than later. >> reporter: demand is high and supply is low. people should not wait to do last-minute shopping for trees. a christmas tree usually grows about one foot per year. if you 18 seven foot tree, that will take about lung cancer. this woman is sharing her story. this young wife and mother is fighting for her life. doctors say her story is not uncommon. >> reporter: donna gary had a storybook life. >> i married great. we both went back to greg -- grad. we have a boy and a girl. then i got sick. >> reporter: she thought it was a cold. a cough that would not go away. >> then i was coughing so hard i was breaking ribs. i had broken two ribs coughing. they finally decided to do some tests. they did a biopsy. when i woke up from that i saw the look in my doctor's face. i said, just tell it to me. >> he said it was cancer, stage iv. >> reporter: that means it had spread. >> i had over 200 nodules, tumors and my lungs. 15 tumors in my brain. >> reporter: she was only 39. she doesn't smoke. sheets healthy, exercises regularly and when the symptoms darted she did not wait to go to the doctor.>> this is her doctor. her case is a wake-up call and an opportunity to educate ourselves on who cancer is targeting. >> 25% of lung cancer cannot be accounted for by smoking. that is a ready big percentage when you think that one point six million cases are diagnosed yearly. >> that is a lot of patients. lung cancers and never smokers more frequently occur in women than men. this is particularly true in asians. women diagnosed in asia, 60 to 80% have never smoked.>> -- >> reporter: why? >> we don't know exactly. research is needed. three types of lung cancer have been identified knowing what it is is a game changer when it comes to treatment. >> we want to test for those. we have medications that can shut off signaling to make the tumor stop growing and shrink. >> reporter: there are side effects. terry has lost a lot of hair. she can take her treatment at home with a pill. she calls the effects a miracle. she was on oxygen and could not walk around because she was in so much pain.>> i would take three weeks with no shortness of breath. >> the doctor has now said that my lungs look like a normal person's.>> i am down to six tumors in my had. they are much smaller. they have reduced in size and they are not causing symptoms.>> reporter: we wish she gets her storybook ending but the treatment is not a cure. she is still stage iv. she still has lung cancer. she is fighting for herself and others. she was inspired to tell her story to raise awareness. >> i can't take anything for granted. tomorrow is not guaranteed. >> reporter: if life can be captured in pictures, she is building one filled with love and strength. she just wants to grow old with the love of her life. she is a mother who is fighting with everything she has for that storybook ending. one that gives her a chance to watch her babies grow up.>> i just want to enjoy life and be with my children. i need to give the moment they will remember. >> reporter: she just turned 40 and celebrated her 10th wedding anniversary. she is so inspiring. she is fighting. it is a time to raise awareness. if you feel something wrong, even if you think you could not have cancer, go get it checked out.>> that is inspirational. >> they say if you convince the mind, the body will follow. >> we don't like cancer. >> no. it is not our friend. good for her though. attitude is half the battle. >> all right. let's go over to rosemary. >> reporter: we are watching the rain. today you have a little bit more time, depending on where you live. >> this is a nice day to wind down. rain is falling across parts of the north bay. we have had some beautiful pictures come in on twitter. this one is from livermore. a beautiful start to the day in most areas. most areas are starting out dry. that will change over the course of the next few hours. north bay is seeing quite a bit of rain already this morning. accumulation is starting to register. we are looking for about a half of an inch with the system. a lot of people are traveling and the roadways will be wet. we have green on the screen and some pockets of yellow indicating moderate rain. highwinds in petaluma and sonoma. a little closer to areas on the coastline, we have highway 1. these are all covered in green. down in marin there is also rain falling there. this stretches over toward saratoga and south bay. we are keeping an eye on the sierra. snow levels are high. we have rain and wind. snow levels will drop over the course of the afternoon and evening hours. the second wave that moves in tonight is colder. for today, heavy rain between now and noon. afternoon showers remained in the forecast for the entire day. a second wave will move in late tonight. we could get an additional inch up in the north. in the hills, we could see more than that. the winter advisory starts at 4 pm and goes until 10 am tomorrow. it will impact golden gate bridge. on the coastline, a little bit here over the santa cruz mountains. we have some scattered showers in the sierras. this is green. it is not white just yet. the snow level will drop over the course of the afternoon. today is a big travel day, it could be slick and slow. the wind will also pick up. we have reported gusts of 20 miles per hour. it is mostly cloudy and breezy. we are seven hours. a backup stretched for two miles. this is cell phone video. multiple vehicles were involved in this deadly crash. for people in one car were killed. of the driver who caused the crash left the scene. the sheriff deputies ultimately arrested him shortly before midnight. no names have been released. investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened and was the initial back to you. chp is investigating a deadly crash involving a motorhome on lake view highway. this happened at 9 pm yesterday. this is where 116 meets. one person died at the hospital. no word on what led up to that crashed an investigation is underway after a package is loaded. an investigation is underway in alameda after a package exploded at a home, where a police officer possibly lives. a neighbor says the package was delivered to the home of an off- duty officer who noticed the package had wires coming out of it. he threw it into the street where it exploded, injuring a female who was in the area. authorities will not say exactly where the explosion happened, but neighbors tell us it is near lilac street and oleander avenue on bay farm island of alameda. the postal service inspector confirms the package was delivered to the home by the usps. the postal inspection service tells ktvu it is staying tight- lipped about the incident during the investigation. the contents of the package have been shipped to washington for further analysis. alameda police department, alameda county sheriff's department, the atf, and postal inspectors have all responded to the incident. the 4000 feet. as far as rainfall, it does not stop. it will be on and off scattered shower activity. into the evening, it is still coming. it will be moist out there today. a second wave will bring colder air. that will drop the snow levels. monday morning we wake up to some scattered showers. we could have a ret -- wet roadway for tomorrow morning. most people will see about 0.5 inch -- inches of rain. mild for most of us, mid- sixties. the temperature will not change much. here's a look at your extended forecast. monday and tuesday we will be dry with morning fog. it will be chillier. dead after and asked lotion in a chinese factory. two injuries are considered serious. it happened 60 miles south of shanghai. there were workers inside the factory and the blast was so strong that it
