So now the Public Defenders Office want to create a pretrial june to address booking issues before formal charges from the das office are brought. Now the San Francisco examiner wrote that the report says black people are held in jail longer than white people. Their cases take longer and they are convicted of more serious crimes. The report says San Francisco Police Booked blacks an minorities on 50 more severe charges than whites, severe charges impact the rest of their experience in the criminal justice system. The examiners report says that the study also found a black defendant spent an average of 30 days in jail, 62 longer than white defendants. Now this isnt the first report to criticize the San Francisco police for racial bias. There was a report back in 2015 that found the arrests from the San Francisco police were 50 of black people and another report in 2016 say that black people face more severe uses of force from the San Francisco police department.
