The chp is looking for a driver who left the scene of a deadly crash. Janine de la vega joins us from redwood city to tell us how people can find the dollars. Reporter they just had a vague description of the vehicle and need the publics help. A van that was traveling northbound 101 just south of woodside road clipped a silver scion xv yesterday. The scion rolled over several times. The driver was a 58yearold man from new hampshire. He had his seat belt on and had major injuries and ended up dying at stanford medical center. The vehicle may have been a light brown toyota sienna. We have no information on the van and especially with people that have dash cams if they can check their footage and see check the time the crash happened and if they were traveling northbound 101 hopefully, they can provide us with good information. The chp says witnesses said it appeared that the van was speeding, and if drugs or alcohol were factors, at this time its just unknown. Thank you for that update. 6 04 is the time. And a task force is heating the east bay. The goal is to get guns off the streets. And they are looking into the recent string of freeway shootings. The task force is made of federal, state and local law enforcement. Our camera rolled as officers arrested suspects at two different locations. And one of the men was wanted on attempted murder charges and none of the people is connected to the nine shootings on interstate 80 and 580 between hercules and berkeley. Investigators say it primarily involves gangs. When the gangs are feuding and they recognize somebody on the street and they happen to drive up on the freeway, some of them in repeat past have engaged on the freeway as far as shooting. Reporter since january, the task force has made 69 felony arrests and recovered 29 guns. Time is 6 05. Why did a dump truck smash into a house in sausalito . Investigators want to know. The truck was filled with hot asphalt when it crashed into this house on lower crescent avenue in broad daylight, 2 30 in the afternoon. The truck rolled backwards down the hill and the driver jumped out, breaking his arm. The homeowners were inside and not hurt. We were reading just sitting quietly reading good books and i heard this very loud sound which could only be a truck rolling backwards down the hill. I said to my husband, honey, a truck has smacked into our garage. And the garage was knocked off the foundation. Looks like the rest of the house is not damaged. A recent increase in graffiti is prompts extra security at San Jose City hall. The city will spend 30,000 to have Security Patrol the outside of the building. Officials reached the breaking point monday night. This was the 4th incident in a month. This is our city hall. And to see graffiti happening here is something that we want to combat. Dog owners are suing the National Park service in the ongoing fight over the dog walking rules in the golden gate recreational area. Dogs would be banned in some areas. The park service is trying to balance the needs of park users and protect natural and culture resources. The head of the tsa was grilled by members of the Senate Committee looking at transportation security. He faced questions not just about passenger screening methods and about background checks on airport employees increasingly seen as a potential weak spot. The best practices are obvious. Tsa has increased the inspections of employees by five fold. Properly screening employees is a challenge for tsa which has grown into an enormous organization with 60,000 employees. The head of the fbi now revealing how the fbi hacked the iphone of one of the San Bernardino shooters. Fbi director james comey says the fbi bought a tool from a private party to unlock the iphone. The suspect is one of the two shooters in the San Bernardino tacks where 14 people were killed. Law enforcement officials agreed theyd finally cracked the iphone after apple refused to help the fbi get around the security measures. Police say he led them on a chase in an uber drivers car. 20yearold juan carlos hailed the car Early Saturday Morning in philadelphia. He asked the driver to take him to a town in upstate new york 275 miles away. Robinson became sleepy and asked carlos to drive the car while he took a nap.
