Investigators with the Oakland Public Ethics Commission are accusing oakland city councilwoman lanette gibson of violating city ethics rule. Their report claims she voted to extend a city contract with a developer that later allegedly gave her Free Services. Investigators say the Architectural Firm helped her delay a Housing Development that was planning to go up across from our home in west oakland. They accuse her of conflict of interest and failing to report Free Services that amounted to about 800. Councilwoman says neighbors first raised concerns about the development and that she sought Technical Advice from a respectable architectural company. The Ethics Committee will meet on monday to consider her case. Jeff sessions laid out new guidelines from the Justice Department that could mean sanctuary cities in the bay area will lose federal Law Enforcement funding. The attorney general making that announcement saying sanctuary cities like San Francisco which dont share information with federal information about undocumented immigrants will lose out on federal funds. There were new guidelines for applicants looking for money for the edward burn justice assistant grants. Cities around the cities benefit San Francisco received 522,000 from that grant just last year. That could change going forward. The attorney general released a statement saying the sanctuary policies make us less safe because they intentionally undermine our laws and protect illegal alien whos have committed crimes. They said it will provide grants allow federal immigration access to detention facilities and provide 48 hours notice before they release an illegal wanted for a federal investigation. Sessions, you will recall, has been under pressure from the president. The president sending out tweets questioning sessions competency as the attorney general. In the meantime, the mariposa Sheriffs Office arrested three people. Theyre facing charges ever stealing Fire Equipment from crews who were battling the Detwiler Fire. Two men and a woman all from the modesto area were taken into custody after a traffic stop on sunday. The deputies say they found power tools and other Fire Fighting equipment in their car. Theyre facing charges of possessing a pipe used for smoking drugs. People in Sonoma County are concerned about an arsonist after three fires burned near homes last week end. Two of the fires in santa rosa started a few hundred feet apart near a trail near businesses and homes. A woman says she thought she heard fireworks before the first fire. No fireworks were found, but officials says theyre keeping a close eye on the area. In this case, we had two strange fires and it stopped for now. Fire crews had a hard time getting down to narrow trail to fight those flames. When they did get there, they found a camp stove still burning. No one was around. Happening today, 18yearold sanchez, the young woman accused of Live Streaming while driving drunk and crashing her car will be in court today facing charges of vehicular manslaughter. Her 14yearold sister was ejected from that car and was killed. The father of both girls said hes watched this video posted on instagram and calls it a tragic accident. People all over the country getting excited about next months total Solar Eclipse. That total Solar Eclipse will be visible august 21st in 14 states from oregon to South Carolina for about two minutes. The sun will disappear, completely blocked by the moon turning day into night. Here in california, well see a partial eclipse at 10 15 a. M. Astronomers says this is a special event. It wont happen again until the year 2045. Its a rare occurrence. And its a dramatic occurrence. And so if you have the chance to see it in totality, go for it. Now, heres the thing. Dont try to look at it with your necked eye or with a telescope. That can severely damage your eyes. Scientist say the only safe way to look at it is to use special purpose solar filters. The socalled eclipse glasses. Nasa researchers are asking people skilled in origami to help them design radiation shields that could be used in space. Nasa launched a Design Competition for shields that can be folded up and stored and used on future missions to mars. Nasa says radiation shields are needed to protect astronauts from dangerous radiation on mars and protect their equipment. The city of san jose is spreading the word of a new program that gives san jose residents free item picks up. Residents are fed up with trash being dumped on their streets.
