at practice there was an unusually large number of media outlets from around the world who swarmed the practice facility yesterday. the warriors are closing in on history. hoping they can make history. right now the team has 72 wins, tied with the 1995/1996 chicago bulls. one more victory with set the record giving the warriors the greatest regular-season of all time. and steph curry talked 10:00 news. police are investigating a violent car crash in antioch that happened last night. the mayor said it happened on a street near the highway for offramp. he was leaving a city council meeting when he saw another member of the city council standing on the side of the road. her car had been hit by another car. the other car was still smoking. the mayor said the driver was injured and trapped inside. the mayor is a former police officer so he tried to help keep the trapped driver calm until help could arrive. >> a person in the car. i started talking to him make sure he was coherent. tell him he would be okay. make sure the indolence and fire were on the way and police were, which they were. >> paramedics and crews were able to get the driver out. the councilman was not hurt allie rasmus will have more coming up in the next half- hour. we do have new information about a silver alert for a missing stockton man. asking the public to be on the lookoufor the car driven by tommy lee carpenter. he drove away from his house yesterday in a red nissan versa. he was supposed to be finding a dentist but has not been seen since. a san joaquin sheriff's deputy told ktvu that carpenters credit card was used at a gas station in san jose last night authorities are going to look at the surveillance video in hopes of tracking him down. they are concerned because carpenter is suffering from early stages of dementia. turning to the developing story of a missing two-year-old san francisco girl after her mother's body was found in a park. candlelight vigil will be held tonight for nicole fitts. at the best buy store on harrison street where she worked. she was found murdered last friday in mclaren park. police said the are exploring all leads in the case antedate interviewed people of interest. ktvu talk to one of those people . a self-proclaimed street pastor who met nicole fitts and her daughter at a homeless shelter. >> i've been having people praying all day, all-night. that that baby will show up, baby areata will show up because the enemy will let her go. >> my gut tells me they did something to that girls baby and when nicole found out, she went ballistic as any mother would do. >> nicole's friends and coworkers say they are suspicious of pastor briggs and her family who babysat arianna. miss briggs insist they would never do anything to hurt the child. more police patrols around a palo alto elementary school after reports of a man exposing himself to a little girl. here is a sketch of the suspect. on monday, a seven-year-old girl was playing at ohlone elementary school during lunchtime. she went behind one of the classroom buildings and saw a man on the other side of the fence who unbuttoned his pants and exposed himself. look at that sketch if you have any information, call palo alto police. the antioch school district is warning parents after a student said she was robbed at gunpoint as she walked to school yesterday. the principle of deer valley high school sent out a message. the message said the girl reported she was on the trail behind the community center which is across the street from the school when a man with a gun approached her and robbed her. the suspect is described as african-american. a man who is five foot nine inches tall. he appeared to be hens early 20s and is wearing all-black clothing. and check police are investigating and the school is reminding students to walk in groups when possible. san francisco police will hold a town hall meeting regarding a shooting of a homeless man by officers last week. the man was confronted by homeless outreach team, armed with a knife. when officers responded they fired in backgrounds but when he charged at them, the chart and killed him. there have been conflicting accounts of whether the man acted aggressively toward the officers. today's meeting is at noon at the union local hall on 18th street. a judge rejected a defense motion to throw out a murder charge against the undocumented immigrant who's accused of killing kate steinle in san francisco. kate steinle was sightseeing last summer with her father and a friend near the ferry building when she was shot in the back and later died. lawyers for the suspect, one francisco lopez-sanchez tried to get the case dropped on grounds that he was detained for hours by the police before the question him. a judge was troubled by the delay but refused to throw out the case. lopez-sanchez is due back in court on may 12. 39,000 verizon workers are on strike. we want to show you video of the workers from earlier this morning. they are mostly east coast technicians and customer service workers. they have been working without a contract since august. they want a new one that includes less outsourcing, better healthcare and working conditions and higher money. verizon said trained, nonunion staffers are doing the jobs of those on strike extract despite efforts to conserve water, the city brentwood is getting ready to raise its rates. the city will raise water rates by 6% over the next two years. the average customer will pay around six dollars more on their monthly bill. the city said the increase was needed to help replenish the water fund. if nothing was done, the city said the water fund would have been $8.8 million in the red by june 2018. in the north bay, a horrific short videos or their profiles instead of those still shots. in a report this morning that the fbi paid professional hackers for hardware to crack an iphone that was used by one of the san bernardino shooters. according to the washington post, hackers told the fbi about a software flaw in the iphone five seat that had not been known about the paper said the hackers use that information to create a tool that let the fbi break into the phone without triggering a security feature. the fbi director said the tool works only on the iphone five. officials have not said if there was any useful state senate. before approval was given, supporters told members that the justice for rape victims should not have a 10 year deadline. among those testifying before the committee were alleged victims of bill cosby. one reason was angels prosecutors decided not to prosecute cozby is because the 10 year window has closed on most of the cases. there is an exception to the 10 year will. if new dna evidence is discovered. supporters of the bill say too many rapists go free because of the statute of limitations. if the bill is passed, it will only apply to crimes committed after january 1 of this year palo alto firefighters are happy the city approved a pay raise but say it is still not enough for them to live in the city they protect. a new contract gives firefighters a 2.5% raise every year until 2018. that means the average firefighter will get a raise from $88,000 per year to $94,000 per year. the average home price in palo alto is $2.5 million. nats commutes from oakdale, south of playing preseason games and possibly one regular-season game at sam boyd stadium until the new stadium is built. the raiders have a one year lease in oakland through the 2016 season. the giants the santa clara valley. let's go back to the desk. a violent crash in antioch is under investigation. one person was badly hurt when a car hit another car and the truck being used by a work group, setting out cones for word work. the city's mayor stepped in to help until paramedics could arrive on scene. >> reporter: good morning. mayor wade harper pulled over when he saw the rack because he saw a city council member involved in the crash. the councilman did not appear to be hurt but the driver of another vehicle was. this is the area where it happened. eighth street, north of the highway 4 offramp. the wreck happened around 10 pm. the vehicle the driver was in -- this is the vehicle that the driver who was injured was in. he had to be extricated by fire crews. they are reports that two people were hospitalized but it is not clear if both were in that honda or if one may have been in the construction code truck that was out here early reports from chp dispatch log say behind that may have crashed into the construction vehicle. contracted by either caltrans or bart for some of the extension work going on here. there is a lot of construction work happening in the area around a street. the mayor is a former police officer and he happened to drive past this wreck on his way back from a meeting last night. >> i noticed the driver in the seat. the car was smoking. i asked someone to get a fire extinguisher and extinguish the smoke. the person in the car started -- i started to talk to him and make sure he was coherent. i told him he would be okay. >> reporter: we don't have any updates on the driver's condition but we are hoping to hear back from antioch police later. according to the mayor, the city council member involved was involved with the honda struck her car. she did not appear to be seriously injured. when the mayor saw her, she was standing on the side of the road and contacted police. authorities in the north bay are searching for the owner of a dog that is believed to have been thrown out of a musing -- moving car. petaluma animal services posted this photo. here is the dog. the dog suffered several broken bones, including a broken left leg. vets are taking care of her now but officials are asking the public if you have any information about who owns the dog or what happened to her, get in touch with them now. san bruno police will hold a news conference about a deadly hit-and-run that occurred monday morning. investigators are expected to give information about the case. police have said that a 27-year- old man was walking across lanes of traffic when a car hit and killed him. he suffered from severe autism and had been missing from a group home. the contra costa county sheriffs office looking for a suspect in what was originally thought was a carjacking but that has changed. bryan hill is described as a 43- year-old man who was about six foot three inches and weighs about 280 pounds. he has close cropped hair and the goatee. he also has tattoos of musical symbols on his neck. investigators say hill forced his way into the silver prius of someone he knew in the tara hills area of west county on friday. he accelerated in veered near three police officers and the police dog. he is wanted for three counts of attended murder on a peace officer and stealing a car. if you have information, call the police. community leaders are planning a vigil outside the mission police station in san francisco in protest over the deadly police shooting of a young immigrant from guatemala. the group, faith in action, said it was the da to invest -- release his investigation. the victim was shot and killed by plainclothes officers last february. initially, police say he lunged at officers with a knife but an autopsy report said he was shot in the back. bafta leaders say they are filing a citizen complaint over the deadly shooting of a homeless man, luis gongora, last week. san jose state say it is hired a chief diversity officer in the wake of a disturbing upset on campus. kathleen wong lau will be the schools office of diversity, equity and inclusion. she grew up in the bay area and got her bachelor's degree at cal state east bay and recently worked at the university of oklahoma where she led the schools first required freshman diversity training. appointment comes weeks after three former san jose state students who are white were sentenced for a misdemeanor battery on their african- american roommate in 2013. they were accused of taunting him with racial slurs and putting a bike lock around his neck. they were sentenced to 30 days in jail to be served on the weekends plus probation and community service. a blue ribbon panel is investigating problems at the santa clara county jail. it's recommending the sheriff be removed from the jail system. the head of the commission made a 30 recommendations to the county including four that the panel said it should happen immediately. create an inspector general's office that would have access 24 hours a day to the jail and have the power to investigate claims. they are also june -- suggesting an overhaul of the grievance system used by the inmates. they want more transparency and fairness in the process used to discipline officers. and they want to reform the demonstration inmate welfare fund. having someone new to supervise would be the biggest change. >> continued supervision of the jails by the sheriff is not in the best interest of the inmates. the correctional officers or the community. >> sheriff laurie smith said she's been behind some of the recent changes at the jail and would like to remain as supervisor of the jail system while more reforms take place. san francisco's port commission heard the results of a very extensive study confirming serious seismic problems along the waterfront. the report says a major earthquake, magnitude 7 or bigger on the san andreas fault, will probably cause the seawall to move. the seawall runs between fisherman's wharf and at&t park and helps provide the foundation for a lot of buildings along the embarcadero including the historic ferry building. >> in a major event the study shows the seawall would likely move they word and that would cause a lot of damage to historic resources, to the embarcadero and we need to fix that. >> it would cost about $3 billion to rebuild the seawall. separate san francisco port officials are working on getting the funding. san jose is launching a new crackdown on illegal fireworks in the city. the city council approved a measure that would make it easier for the city to find violators. police say it illegal fireworks is a problem all year but especially around the holidays. neighbors say the problems get worse every year. the fire department said not only are there more fireworks but the ones being used are becoming more powerful. >> more aerial type things that are going up as opposed to just the firecrackers and sparklers. were killed in the line of duty were killed from someone suffering from a mental illness. this is a huge officer safety concern. >> the crisis intervention expert said empathy and patience are key. one of the largest transit agencies in the bay area will undergo changes starting next week and. they are trying to provide more efficient service and accommodate the needs of writers. there will be route changes to several lines and additional buses on some of the more popular lines. they provide 700,000 trips per day. these changes come at a cost of $20 million. dear the -- uber had to release information on passengers to state regulars. it's part of the first transparency report. uber said it received for requests for the information from the public utilities commission which regulates taxis and ridesharing companies and comes after uber purposely pushed back saying state regulators asked for more information than they really need. in january, uber had to pay the commission $7.6
