A little bit more fog, coastal variety, so other than that, it looks like a nice friday. Changes are starting on sunday, especially sunday afternoon. There it is, more on that, the wind will pick up. I just picked us up 2 breakfast croissants for 4, when this bear attacked. With one swipe, it devoured one of the croissants. Then jack showed up, and took care of the beast, so i could escape. And thats what happened to your breakfast croissant. And yours . It survived. Enjoy freshly cracked egg with ham and bacon. Or sausage. Two tasty croissants at an even tastier 4 price. So, i mean, this system doesnt have a lot of moisture but there will be plenty of very steep and pretty good lift coming in from this low. But for us today its kind of quiet, patchy low clouds over oakland. After that mostly sunny, nice, then go for upper 60s today, maybe a slight cooldown because theres a little bit more in the way of low clouds and fog but still temperatures, they have been upper 60s around oakland or near 70 degrees and inland temps will come up a degree or two but there are a few high clouds. The lows are up, 40s and low 50s for many, more so than we have seen. Mid40s for many, no valleys in there, novato, sebastopol, sonoma not much of the difference. Our change is developing up here, it will drop down here and then start moving into the sierra and eventually over Southern California which may give them rain next week, we are probably on the edge of rain but the wind will pick up. Coast fog, sunny and nice, cooler by the water but slight warmup for those inland. A little mini, if you will, summer pattern, 60s by the water, mid70s inland. 5 30. What do you have, sal . Looks pretty good so far on the commute, steve. Good deal. Not a lot going on, which is nice. Go out and take a look at some of these pictures. You can see the traffic is moving along nicely. Usually by now we have more traffic at the bay bridge. Doesnt look like the metering lights are on yet which means traffic is a little lighter. It is goods friday and that means some schools have the day off, lighter conditions. If youre driving in the Santa Clara Valley we are looking at the road sensors here, we are off to a good start. At 5 31, lets go back to the desk. Thank you. A long Time Homeless service in downtown san rafael may have to move or shut down all together. For the past 35 years the Ritter Center has been helping the homeless and low income families with things like food, showers, laundry and medical care. But the city may be forcing ritter to either move out of the downtown area or drastically reduce the number of people it serves. The problem is the homeless congregate close to where any businesses and residents are located. Ritter says its willing to move with the citys help but it wont be easy. We cant move because we cant find a suitable place. Its a real catch22. Tough enough living out there on the streets and then to not have a place to take a shower and wash your clothes and look like a productive, normal person, that would make it more difficult. I take thieves into their gates with our merchandise, we collect uncapped needles in our parking lots. We have to pick up feces in our parking lots. Legislation that would increase access to gender neutral rest rooms in San Francisco has been approved with plenty of support. The legislation introduced in january would require city businesses to change the signs on all single occupant rest rooms to make them gender neutral. It would also require the city to include gender neutral rest room facilities in new public construction and major renovation projects. The change will not only benefit transgender people but also parents with opposite gender children. The legislation will now head to the full board of supervisor for a vote. And just one day after the North Carolina governor signed a bill preventing cities and counties in that state from passing their own antidiscrimination rules legislators have said no to the bill that would allow for transgender individuals to use public rest rooms aligned with their gender identity. Supporters say the program is in danger of losing about 40 of its budget and half of its teachers. The Administration Says reserve funding ran out and that the department has been overspending. How are we overspending if we are already in the red before the semester starts . How are we overspending if we dont have enough money to make copies and the fact that president wong continues to state there will not be any faculty layoffs, i have already been told i am going to be laid off. The college of ethnic study serves about 6000 students. It was the first of its kind in the country when it was established during the 1960s. New this morning, it was say frightening situation in a hayward neighborhood where police are on the scene after a reported Home Invasion and carjacking. Ktvu fox 2s Paul Chambers joins us live now with the few details we know so far. Hey, paul. Reporter good morning. There are a lot of layers to this story. We are trying to get more details confirmed about this. We did hear about Police Scanner recording so we are trying to make sure it is confirmed. This happened after midnight, a resident on barry avenue here in hayward called police to report a Home Invasion robbery. Once officers arrived on scene, they saw a vehicle with what appeared to be four suspects inside. Officers located the vehicle and thats when the driver tried to get away. The car later crashed about a half a mile from the Police Station at the intersection of myrtle street and wynton avenue. Officers talked to the two women inside the vehicle. They claim they were not only carjacked but kidnapped by the two male suspects. The same men were also responsible for committing the Home Invasion robbery at the barry avenue address. Now, we have reached out to Hayward Police out here and we are looking for a statement and confirmation. As soon as we get that, of course we will pass it along to you. Once again we are told these two men went on a Home Invasion, then they did an alleged carjacking and a kidnapping and then ended in a crash and once again brian and pam, when we find out more information, we will pass it along to you. Paul, thank you for that update. Right now it is 5 45. Sal, have we come up with a friday traffic jam theme . Sal is listening so something intently. Sal. Good morning, yes. Sorry. Just reading something. Hes reading. And i was not paying attention. I was wondering what are friday traffic jams . We havent figured it out, although i think, im looking back here, the people who sit here i made a suggestion to you. What are we going with with traffic jams . Anyone know . I think we are going to do spring songs. Theres the bus back there. Hes walking around. Brandon, how are you . There you go. What are we doing for sals traffic jams . Poor guy. I suggested bring him up here. Good morning, everybody. What is going on here. Theres not a lot going on trafficwise, im looking now at the chp page and i think its because it is good friday and some people are not going, some schools i do know have the day off and the Financial Markets are closed and thats going to make for fewer people on the roads. Go out and take a look at what we have now. This is a look at the commute, interstate 880 north and southbound, traffic is moving well. I know this is about the time when some schools have spring break and that also makes it easier for the commute as people arent going to school. People might be somewhere else. Lets move along to the san mateo bridge and westbound 92 getting out to the highrise. That traffic looks easy so far. The bay bridge metering lights are on but theres not a big backup at the toll plaza. As we look at the maps or not the maps. Im sorry. We are going to 280 next, this would be interstate 280 in san jose, northbound 280 traffic right there, right through downtown looks good. We are hoping for a very nice and light commute on this friday before easter. At 5 47, the weather may be changing this weekend. Lets bring steve . Thats correct, sal, not until sunday but thats correct. Good morning, everybody, on this friday, we have some low clouds around, we will take care of some business here coming up in just a second. We have been talking about shasta, we have information on Lake Oroville coming up here in just a moment, otherwise mostly clear, a few high clouds in the north bay, maybe patchy fog on the coast but overall looks like another day, very similar to yesterday, slight warmup, i think for some inland. This came across from dave allen. Lake oroville spillway open to make room for more water. The lake is filling three times faster than draining. How about that . Yes, that is good news. But then Debbie Downer tweeted me no, im kidding. Its linda. Yeah, lake was empty in december, sadly we have to give our water to los angeles so it will be empty soon. Well, thats not true. Some of it does go to Southern California, but hydro electricity is also used and im sure it will be good for boating. We are there in march already, thats good. We still have april and may and also the snow runoff. So quiet today, pretty quiet, i should say, be night friday, saturday and then changes, big changes on sunday, Easter Sunday, okay in the morning but then it will be windy, cooler with clouds coming in and a possibility of some snow showers up in the sierra sunday afternoon, maybe even Sacramento Valley could get some activity. I think we are just a little too far west. This system will be coming over land, not water, so doesnt really favor us. 40s, 50s on your current temps, running a little bit warmer, east bay temps mid40s to upper 40s, alamo is in there, walnut creek, lafayette, baraga, black hawk says 51. 27 in truckee, 45 ukiah, 54 monterey. We have higher clouds over us here so these systems are dropping right now, you can see coming down out of the northwest, the change we are waiting for is up here, its going to move in and start to move over, Eastern Oregon drops into the Sierra Nevada, we will be on the windy side, not the moisture side but might even produce some above average rain down in Southern California after everything said and done by next week. It wont be probably until the middle of next week. Coast fog, then mostly sunny and nice, a little cooler coast, slight bump up some inland, not a lot. 60s, low mid to upper upper 60s to a few low mid70s while inland but coast fog sunny, not much change saturday, and then clouds start to roll in and the wind picks up sunday into monday. Our best bed for any bet for any rain would be late tuesday into wednesday. Then it looks like march goes out like a little lamb. Funny. Thank you. Came in like a lion. No question about that. So its starting march to ending march is where that goes. I couldnt remember which month. We are into march here, already april, pam. No. I mean, i didnt remember the i know. Goodness. All right. Thank you, steve. It is early. It is early. Constitute, sir thank you, sir. Another honor for the golden state warriors. All we do is win. Additional resources and staffing to combat Sexual Harassment and assaults on campus. The new plan comes after several high profile harassment cases including a Law School Dean who resigned earlier this month and an assistant basketball coach who was fired just last week. The plan includes more staffing to get cases resolved quickly and more funding for Mental Health and advocacy for victims. This effort really is a way to address all constituencies across campus in a way that will have more of a broader impact, so awareness is at a deeper level across all constituencies on campus. Got it. Cal says it will likely spend millions of dollars over the next few years on these initiatives. Corinthian colleges has been hit with a 1. 2 billion judgment for duping students. The award includes 820 million in restitution payments for students but its unlikely they will see any money since corinthian filed for bankruptcy last year. The entertainment world is mourning the death of comedian garry shandling. Im dating a homeless woman. Its easier to talk her into staying over. Im pam cook. Good morning, everybody. Im brian flores in for dave clark. Lets get your friday started with a check on your weather and traffic. Steve is here. Shaping up to be a pretty nice day today. A lot more fog on the coast, so other than that, it will be a nice day inland, for sure. Temperatures, though, little cooler to about the same as we had yesterday, coast and bay and some of the low cloud deck continuing to march in. Its not solid or sold out but there much more so than we had yesterday at this time but i dont think it makes much of a difference inland. Take a look towards your Easter Sunday forecast. It will start off okay but then we will start to see increasing clouds, low and high variety and then that breeze is really going to pick up, especially in the afternoon and evening, so make those plans early because by the evening, afternoon, i think the wind machine will be howling. Low clouds for San Francisco starting off at 51 degrees, we will go 63 today, same as yesterday and normal 62, in fact, we will take a look at climatology or climate data for today for San Francisco. 63, 51, average is 62, 49 so youre right there. 83 the record high in 1952 and way back 1907 for the record low at 38.
