Reporter Health Officials are calling this a shigella outbreak and all stems from people who ate here on 4 had the street over the weekend. Now, even if you didnt eat here but came into contact with a person who does have shigella, you may be at risk. When we first reported this story yesterday, the number of people who had come down with a fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea was at around 24. Now, the county Health Department says more than 80 people have those symptoms, and many have been admitted to the hospital. Twelve are in intensive care with shigella. These cases are all connected to the mexican Seafood Restaurant marisco san juan. The Health Department closed the restaurant sunday. Shigge shigella isen extremely contagious disease caused by bacteria, spread and eat with something that has come into contact with the stool of an infected person. The most important prevention measure that you can take if you have shigella or any illness involving diarrhea is meticulous hand washing. The Health Department is waiting for lab results. Health experts are supposed to gives us an update. If you ate at marisco san juan or friday or saturday and suspect you may have shigella action, go see a doctor immediately. The restaurant will remain closed until the safety of the public can be assured. We have been unable to get in touch with the owners of this restaurant on fourth street. Bryan . Police say the thieves are taking a mental note of peoples pin numbers they wait for the person to leave, continue and step up and withdraw money. This has happened at least five times since may at several different banks. The thieves arent just taking an extra 20 or two. In some cases, they have got an way with 6 or 700. 1300. In one case, 1600. The second you step away with the money in your hand, your card back in your wallet, that suspect jumps over to the machine that you have been on and they reengage your account, reopen it, and they continue transactions after that. Police arrested an oakland man for shouldersurfing climb crimes. A couple of weeks later, a thousand dollars was stolen. They expect there is more than one thief. Holder and his partner had responded to a fight between rival gangs. Now, after holder was shot, his partner wounded the suspect in the leg. Oakland police are investigating a bizarre incident involving two drivers who appear to have intentionally hit a man who was vandalizing cars with a machete tee. Someone on a balcony. The car then circled back, hit the man twice. Later, that white car also hit the man. Police arrived shortly thereafter, but investigators say the man with the machete suffered only minor injuries. Its not bad in san jose, and its not really bad in other parts of the bay area either. We look at highway 4 and 680. That looks good. And were also looking at the freeway. Pretty much clicking a lot of things here. Looking for slow traffic. And we dont have a lot in the immediate bay area. 5 31. Lets go back to the desk. All right. Thank you, is, al. In 90 minutes, union city will partially reopen a popular stretch of road. We have been reporting that area has been closed for the past week because of a huge sinkhole. Ktvus alex savage out there where the sinkhole spilled. Not completely fixed; right . Sill some still some issues for crews to deal with. They have made some really Good Progress in the last week. Take a look. I dont you can see here the outline of what was this huge sinkhole here. But has now been fair and impartialed in, as you can see, and partially paved, and thats why. Later on this morning, one of the westbound lanes of alvarado boulevard will be reopening to traffic. The thinkhole opened last wednesday right at new haven street. Thats just outside of alva rado middle school. The sinkhole ruptured a water main and flooded as well. Eventually, it grew to 35 by 40 feet wide. And it was anter about ten feet deep. Crews have been working all week. They finally filled up that hole. Although im told they still have to repair a suer line that was damaged during all of this. Union city Officials Say they are still investigating at this point trying to figure out what caused the ground to give way here. A lot of repair work has been done over the last week. As we bring you back out here live, this is the scene here. They are set to reopen in westbound lane. One of the westbound lanes of alvarado boulevard to traffic. That is scheduled to hornings pam, at 7 00 this morning. Okay. Thats good news. They have at least opened part of it. Its amazing. Hopefully they do. I know people in this neighborhood keeping their fingers crossed. Yes, and all the middle schoolers too, thank you. Time now is 5 33 n. A fence that fell from an overcrossing in oakland was checked and approveed by inspectors back in february. A large section of the chain link fence, as you recall, fell from the overcrossing on monday night and landed on interstate 880. The following debris damaged eight cars driving by. People who drive in the area say they noticed that the fence was tipping. A neighbor tells ktvu he had alerted a contractor two months ago that the fence seemed unstable. I called to them, and i told them that that fence was falling. Now calls back. No response. Inspectors last checked the crossing as you mentioned, back in february. Ktvu asked caltran what was written on the inspection report. Caltvan says its trying to locate the report, and instructors and engineerings are reviewing to see the problem. The overpass is scheduled to be replaced in 2018. More information is coming out about the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a car last night on interstate 80 in valejo. The 56yearold victim was described as a transient pushing a shopping cart. The man was in the slow lane of the freeway. Two cars crashed while trying to avoid him. The third car ended up killing and hitting him. Police are asking for your help in the search of police say a man grab and slapped a girl walking down the street. Police released this sketch of the suspect. They say it happened around 3 00 in the afternoon earlier this month along first and castle. The 16yearold was walking when the man attempted to talk to her. She ignored him and that is when he slapped and grabbed her arm. She was able to get away and Contact Police. Police say no one has reported the driver missing and conditions made it difficult to search the area after the storm.
