Reporter their son, an oakland book seller, had been to the ghost ship several times before the incident. He smelled smoke, and was helping look for any electrical problem when the lights went out, and the flames came up through the floorboards. He was transferred to Saint Francis because of his smoke inhallation. When he made it to the burn unit, he found out his situation was much more serious, and that he would have to be indeuced into coma. They put me through to his doctor immediately, and she talked to me about what was going on with him, and said they needed to intubate him because his throat was swelling, and i said i havent seen him, and she said how far away are you . And i said about an hour and a half. And she said im sorry i cant wait that long. Reporter he spent the next five and a half weeks breathing through a ventilator in a coma.
