In totally disabled woman in San Francisco was killed after being struck by the same paratransit bus that had just dropped her off. This happened yesterday morning on franklin street. People who work at the first unitarian mercilus church said the woman was most likely on her way there for a regular meeting of seniors with disabilities. Church employees say the victim was in her 80s and she was a regular at the church. She seemed to be a very outgoing lady. An elderly lady who got around. Investigators are planning to interview the driver and see if cameras may have caught the collision on video. In san rafael authorities are working to identify the person hit and killed by a truck. This happened yesterday afternoon. Police say the person was hit just across from the Downtown Transit Center around one deck 15 in the afternoon. The crash shut down the intersection for several hours. This is the same area where a woman was killed by a dump truck in january 2014. Some call that intersection one of san rafaels most dangerous, with traffic turning as pedestrians get the green light. Voters in three bay area counties will be asked in november to approve a 3. 5 billion bond measure for bart. Ridership is increased with more than 120,000 trips every weekday. Governor brown and top democratic lawmakers reached a budget deal yesterday with additional funding for low income children. A group of cal state east bay students are packing for a mission to penna mall early next week. They will deliver badly needed medical supplies to People Living in remote villages in that country. The 34 student volunteers are part of a National Nonprofit Organization Called global brigade. They have learn from past experiences, medical supplies are not the only thing in short supply in that country. They do not have toothpaste. This year we will bring a bunch of hygiene kits. Simple stuff that will hopefully make an impact in their daily lives. The student volunteers want any similar mission to nicaragua last year. A special bicycle stolen from a disabled boy has been given a new purpose. Variety Childrens Charity presented the bike to the Solano County Children Services medical therapy unit after it was stolen from its original owner. Donors pitched in to get that child a new bike. Police recovered the stolen bike it was repaired and can now be used to help disabled children. We wanted to have it d customized so that lots of children could have the therapy of it. We are happy to grant it to them today. In addition to the bike the charity donated 1000 to the medical therapy unit to repair other equipment. San francisco is one of seven finalist taking part in a National Smart city challenge each city is tasked with creating a plan to use data and technology to develop ways to shape how people and goods move through the city. San franciscos plan cost for the creation of a fleet of autonomous, electric vehicles to get people to and from mass transit. Caltrans is raising awareness of railroad crossings.
