What led up to the confrontation in the south bay. With 2014 winding found, we thought it would be fun to look back at some of the highlights of the year. One of the best way to see what people were focused on this year is what they looked up on the internet. Joining me from new york is jesus Garcia Google trend expert. Good morning. Good morning. How are you . Im great. First of all, i want to start off by asking how do you compile these lists . How does it work . We take a look at the hundreds of searches, hundreds of thousands of searches on google search. This is actually our 14th annual list, and were taking a look at the yearend search. If, you know we develop hundred of lists for over 70 countries. If we zero in on the u. S. We can take a look at the top five trending searches. Where we have number 5. Flappy bird which is a totally addictive mobile game released in 2013. But it became very popular in 2014. A lot of people have been talking about it especially because the creator pulled it out of market for a couple months because of a lot of attention and number 4, malaysia airlines. A lot of people were searching about the two flights that did not reach their destination. Number 3, we had ebola. This is a disease that started off in africa. A lot of people wanted to know how it might be affecting them in the u. S. And find out how you can get ebola, what are the symptoms and what you can do to avoid it. And we have the world cup for number 2 spot. It was a huge moment on a global scale. A lot of people were following their favorite teams, players, and all of the games results were also available online. And the number 1 top trending search in the u. S. Was actually robin williams. For his untimely death, a lot of people wanted to find out how he died, where he died. They were not only searching for him, they were searching for some of his movies. Among them we saw mrs. Doubtfire, debt po et society. And certainly not surprising that thats the number one search, but its interesting that was global since it was something that impacted us so closely here in the bay area. So i want to switch gears a little bit. You have a number, actually a lot of top ten lists, different categories. Since i work in the news, i thought i might take a guess at the top categories. Starting with politics or politicians. For me i think one of the big political stories was the gop taking over the senate. But was that at the top of the list for politicians or politics . No. For politicians, president obama was at the top of the list. Hes the commanderinchief and a lot of people have been searching for him, continue to search for him especially around some of the hot topics hes been talking about for the last couple of months. Pop culture im thinking the kardashians. They did have a big year. Kim came in number two. Number one was Jennifer Lawrence who has been all over the magazines and very popular because of the hunger games movies that shes been doing. A lot of people have been following her as well. Im afraid thats all we have the time for. But again, weve been joined live by jesus Garcia Google trends expert from new york. Thank you so much for your time and happy new year. Very good. Very interesting. Thank you both. 7 20. In other news this morning, San Jose Police, they are defending an offduty officer seen on cell phone video trying to restrain a woman and hemp sister. Now, take a look. This happened in september at an apartment complex parking lot. Police say the women were in their car when they hit the officers personal vehicle and drove off. The man followed the car, identified himself as a Police Officer. At one point and you can see on the video, 30yearold tazman gonzales, struggled with him, bit him. Her Sister Charity starting pulling at the officer. Both women they then were able to get in the car and drove off. The Police Department said the officer did not appear to violate any Department Guidelines and they say he reported this incident immediately. He filled out the use of force documentation, which any officers would fill out any time you place your hand on somebody. Now, San Jose Police say if an offduty Police Officer is trying to pull you over, drive to a public place. Ask for the officers name and badge number. Then call the Police Department to verify you are actually dealing with a Police Officer and not an impersonator. Thats good advice. There are some people who do that, pretend they are cops and they end up in a bad situation. Lets check in with tara, covering traffic for us. Whats going on in the peninsula . A road closure . As it does, it will be a powerhouse as it moves across the country. For us, cold and breezy. Not as windy but windy at sometimes. A lot of sunshine. Its severe and clear. 50s on the temps. It wont take long to start to see the temps fall off the table. They will. Bundle up. There would be a breeze coast and bay. But the wind will die down. That temperature will plummet tonight into tomorrow morning pth sunny. People are asking pea all over are we going dry . Are we going dry . Until then cold morning, sunny days.
