Well, recovery continues in napa following the earthquake with a massive cleanup effort. At Napa High School, just as classes are set to resume, here is a live look at the school. I havent seen it. Oh, i was giving you credit. We have patchy low clouds. 58 to 68. Lows are warmer for most. Not for all. Mostly sunny by noon. Sunny and warmer for many. Westbound 580 is backed up from the altamont pass. Most of it is slow until you reach airway boulevard. No problems on 68 heading north from san ramon to walnut creek. Back to the desk. Going back to school will be a little bit of normalcy. The debris pile is way in the distance from where the students will be dropped off. The crews say they will get it cleaned up in time. Even if they dont, students will be dropped by Napa High School. Its unlikely they will have problems with the debris final. Its the last of the piles located at schools as well. Let me show you a look at the effort to get it cleaned up overnight. A large tractor smashed and scooped through the earthquake debris and loaded it into two dmpsters and may need a couple of more. Before that happened, the crews sorted out the Television Sets because they say they are considered hazardous. The students are on campus here at napa high. More will be rolling in shortly. I spoke to a junior who goes here and plays football here has been helping with the cleanup. We went to help someone whose house was torn apart. We cleaned their garage and house and everything itself. Reporter now the district is asking for your help. They say police do not bring any earthquake debris to the school. There are new dumpster locations. The primary sites are now fire station 5, future low station at first and laurel. Las floor Rose Community center and there is a vacant lot on third street. Crews in napa are working around the clock repairing broken water mains damaged during the quake. About 100 water lines are still broken which means 400 homes dont have water. In this Browns Valley neighborhood, people are using anything they have to get by. One man says his family is getting water from their pool. Garbage cans in the back of the truck, filling them up with water so we can run the toilets and taking showers elsewhere. Many homes in Browns Valley are red tagged. For people without water, theres two water filling stations. One on pearl, the Las Flores Center on linda vista avenue. East bay m. U. D. Is one of the outside agencies coming in to repair broken water mains and leaks. They are overwhelmed. Other crews are helping out. They include the Alameda County Water District and the contra costa district. There is an important warning tied to the big quake in napa. Watch out for unlicensed contractors. California department of insurance and other agencies are passing out fliers in the area warning homeowners make sure you check for contractor licenses before you hire someone to make repairs. That pipe ruptured in know valley near castro and noe valley near castro. Water gushed down the street for more than seven hours. Crews needed to find out what broke and where before they could fix it. They dug up asphalt installed a year ago. Neighbors say their biggest concern was how much water was lost. Its kind of unfortunate to have the water wasted. Actually grabbed some buckets and tried to capture as much as i could. Reporter the Public Utilities Commission Said there will 12,000 miles of pipes running under the city. Some are more than 110 years opened. The city says it does replace 15 miles of pipe every year. 7 08. A 19yearold man in morgan hill is in jail accused of Sexual Assault. Police say they are releasing Andrew Knights photo to make sure there are not other victims. Knight was arrested saturday after a woman said she found him in her home with her 14 yearold daughter. Investigators say knight often hung out with young teenagers at parties and at sporting events. He was very active on social media. His Facebook Page has more than 3,000 friends and many of them are young girls. Police believe night and the 14 yearold were having conversations on social media. Another fire in an abandoned island on mare island in vallejo is beinvestigated as suspicious. A fire official says yesterday mornings fire is the third on the island in about two weeks. There was concern that the nearest fire hydrant wouldnt have any water because of water main breaks on the island. But firefighters were able to access water from that. No injuries are reported. Investigators say the fire is suspicious because the building was boarded up and no utilities were turned on. 7 09. San francisco general hospitals new Trauma Center will have the most earthquake resistant foundation available. Instead of being put directly into the ground, the hospital will sit in a bathtub shaped foundation. 40 feet deep on one end, 25 feet deep on the other. Rolling disks will allow the building to glide in any direction during an earthquake. It will also have Emergency Water tanks, specially designed windows and bigger backup generators. That new Trauma Center is due to open before the end of next year. Uber is accused of launching a sneak attack on its rival lyft. Uber uses socalled Brand Ambassadors to steal drivers away from lift, its reported. Uner has been reported of making a number of fake lyft accounts. Well, another Holiday Weekend closure of interstate 280 in San Francisco begins tomorrow. The chp will begin shutting down all of the northbound lanes going in and out of the downtown area at 2 00 p. M. The closure will affect the stretch of interstate 280 from the 101 interchange to king street near at t park. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto highway 101. Now, the northbound lanes are due to stay closed until 5 00 tuesday morning. However, all southbound lanes of 280, they are gonna stay open. Those southbound lanes were closed during a similar earthquake safety project during the memorial day weekend a couple of months ago. Once again, drivers heading into the city, you are being urged, you should use public transportation. As if heading to work on a monday morning wasnt tough enough, drivers in Northern Virginia faced an additional challenge this week. First Baptist Church has never missed a scheduled free lun p for the homeless. But yesterday, that lunch was in jeopardy because the church was closed until work crews could inspect the church. So Vallejo Police coordinated with the Salvation Army and they drove up in a 16foot mobile canteen to deliver more than 100 meals. What did they serve you today . Spaghetti, salad, Chocolate Chip Cookie and bread. Real tomatoes. Making me hungry. This was one of five canteens in the area.
