Really mild in the city. Low 60s already. A lot of low clouds and fog and tropical clouds. If you are in the sierra, afternoon thunderstorms. Maybe even the mother lode could show up. Breezy for some. A southeast breeze peninsula and south bay. And high clouds, sun. The higher clouds should lift out of the area late morning, early afternoon. Should be mostly sunny. The breezy is temperatures and the temperatures are mild. Low 60s for many. We are getting that south breeze and thats what it does it every time. Justing 18 gusting 1820 Half Moon Bay. Again some tropical clouds might make it feel a little more humid and muggy. There is plenty of moisture. Thats for sure. High clouds inland. 60s, 70s, 60s. A decent commute. San francisco. The bay bridge toll plaza is crowded a20minute drive. There is a daytime baseball game at at t park. Its the as and the giants and 12 45. 880 north and southbound the traffic looks good in both directions. A fiveminute drive time from downtown oakland to hagen berger. And in the eastbound, 580 a mess through the livermore valley. Its expected slow traffic. Southbound 680 near bernell is slow. On the peninsula 101 good from san mateo to sunnyvale. Now to breaking news out of san jose. Right now fire crews are battling a small grassfire near the loss lagos grassfire. It is the third to break out in that area in the last 11 days. Janine de la vega just arrived on the scene. Reporter this crew just came back from fighting that fire. You are looking at the back side of the los lagos golf course. It took firefighters quite a while to find this because, as you can see, there is no smoke. Its quite a hike down there. There is homeless encampments down there. You cant see any smoke any more. Here is video taken in the last hour of the smoke in the air coming up from the golf course. We are told that it was a small grassfire about 50 by 30 feet. There is a lot of poison oak down there. So it was a challenge, like i said, and a hike for these firefighters to get down there. We are not sure what caused this fire. Right now theyre in the overhaul phase of making sure there is no hotspots that spark back up. But if we go to some previous video taken recently, there was two other vegetation fires there since june 30. The larger one actually burned six acres and it was in the same area in the los lagos golf course. Now, the second fire was a flairup of the earlier fire. One of the golf courseworkers there had speculated that maybe it was a homeless person who had been cooking. Now, i just spoke to a firefighter and he did confirm that they did see tents down there. Right now i am sure they are talking to people down there and making sure that nothing flares back up. Reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. Time is 7 05. The clock is ticking for people at a homeless camp in berkeley to pack up or be evicted. This is causing tension between berkeley and another east bay city. Ktvus alex savidge to tell us why some feel the city of albany is passing its homeless problem on to berkeley. Reporter the city of berkeley is concerned because they believe there is a Public Health issue out here. There is quite a bit of trash, animal waste, and there is a rat problem as well with this homeless encampment where we are this morning along gilman street underneath 880. There are dozens of people who live out here. Temps, tarps, and mattresses line the sidewalk. The city of berkeley is threatening to clear out this camp by this coming tuesday unless the place is properly cleaneddum. The city has declared the camp a public nuisance. An eviction is stirring controversy. According to one report, city leaders say albany is passing the buck by simply pushing its Homeless Population on to its neighboring city. Some of those forced out of the albany ball were paid thousands of dollars not to return to that city. Meantime, Berkeley Police have visited this camp on a daily basis offering to connect people with city services. And because this encampment is under the freeway, the highway parole has become involved. Advocates for the homeless argue the city should be putting trash cans in here to help campers keep the area clean instead of forcing people out. That deadline is looming. Days away now. Campers have until tuesday to clean up the camp or the city of berkeley says they will clear the place out. We are live this morning in berkeley, alex savidge. The city of berkeley is now requiring pot clubs to give away some of the marijuana they have to the poor. The City Council Approved that ordinance late monday night. It mandates the threemedical marijuana dispensaries to set aside 2 of the pot and give it to others. Supporters of medical marijuana dispensaries are urged to gather on the steps of city hall. The demonstration is part of the organized protest and petition drive against the new ordinance approved by the city council last month. Seven 07 00. The San Jose Police department making an unprecedented move to deal with a staff shortage. Police officers from the special Operations Division will be responding to routine 9 11 calls once a month. Now, this affects more than 50 officers from the gang suppression swat unit, violent crime, and Traffic Enforcement divisions. Now, this has angered many members of the San Jose Police department. This is another bandaid taking our officers who should be hunting down the worst of the worst criminals. Now they are going to be answering basic 9 11 calls trying to keep the city afloat. This is another first for the San Jose Police department. Just last month it started a mandatory overtime policy because of a shortage of Police Officers. A highpriced prostitute was accused of drugging and killing a google executive aboard his yacht. We discovered 26yearold Alix Tichelman was arrested last fall for biting a boyfriend. She is scheduled to return to a Santa Cruz Court next wednesday on charges of killing 51yearold google executive forest timothy hayes. Investigators say a surveillance camera on his yacht shows she injected him with a lethal dose of heroin. This happened last november. Then watched him fall to the floor, gathered up the heroin and needles, and stepped over his dead body to finish a glass of wine. She was callous. She showed no regard at all for the victim in this case. Her only concern was getting herself out of that situation. On tichelmans Facebook Page she stated she worked in San Francisco as an exotic dancer. Investigators used her tattoos to identify her. She currently faces charges including manslaughter, transporting narcotics and destruction of evidence. Stay with ktvu and ktvu. A fire in San Diego County one that destroyed 36 homes was intentionally set by someone they are only identifying as a juvenile. The cocos fire burned 2,000 acres back in may. It caused millions of dollars in damage. It forced the evacuation of the cal state San Marcos Campus and temporarily closed several schools and businesses. A hearing for that person suspected of setting the fire has been scheduled for the end of the month in juvenile court. Sonoma countys newest casino is helping to keep some fire stations open. That may also mean a Faster Response to emergencies. The press democrat reports profits from the casino will allow the rancho adobe Fire Protection district to staff all three of its fire stations this summer. For almost two years budget cuts forced one fire station to close down on a rotating basis. Casino profits will also be used to buy a new fire engine for the Central Fire Authority and build a new station. The group is expected to file a complaint with the Justice Department today saying the practice violates the federal Voting Rights act. Bay area prosecutors expect to make more arrests in an alleged food stamp fraud ring operating out of San Francisco and oakland. Investigators say the owners of ib food company would ring up phony sales in the sophisticated scam involving the private Financial Information of food stamp recipients. A person was buying the cards at 50 and taken to the store and then the store was cashing the card. The police have already arrested the store owners and two other people described as middle men. There could be more drama today in the trial determining whether the l. A. Clippers can be sold. Now, the estranged wife of Donald Sterling, she will be testifying again later today. On the witness stand yesterday Donald Sterling vowed he will never sell the clippers. He added that he will sue the nba for antitrust violations. Two people on a rollercoaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain when it hit a downed tree on monday are suing the park. The park is in valencia 30 miles north of los angeles. The passengers claim it was the parks neglect that caused the ride to be unsafe. Four riders were injured when the ride hit a tree branch that had fallen onto the tracks. 22 people were on the ride and stranded for up to three hours. Six flags has not commented on the lawsuit. Several Senior Citizens are fighting to keep a pal he owe alto ymco from closing its doors. They are scheduled to close later this year. The ymca of Silicon Valley says the decision is financial because they need 2. 8 million in improvement. But the mostly older people who
