Tara moriarty is live for us on the scene to tell us what family members and investigators are saying. Tara . Reporter well, we just spoke to someone from the Alameda CountySheriffs Department and obviously this is a horrible tragedy. You can imagine the familys heart broke, this happening on heartbreak. This is happening on christmas. A man killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself. And the 17yearold son witnessed the entire shooting. This happened around 2 00 in the morning on via amigos the sister says 36yearold the woman was shot by her husband and then he turned the gun on himself. The couples four children were home at the time. The victims sister said she learned this morning that her sister was having marital problems. Last night, Sheriffs Office received a call here of shots fired. When they got there, they found a woman who was had multiple gunshot wounds and a male who had a single gunshot wound. At this point, we believe its a murdersuicide. Reporter Veronica Rodriquez said her sister was a hard worker. She cleaned offices and worked at a fastfood restaurant to make ends meets. The children range in age from 112 to 20 11 to 20. Homicide detectives are here. A portion of the street is shut down. Detectives say its not so much who did this, they have figured that out. Its more the question of why. Im Tara Moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. Ten San Francisco residents are out of their homes after an overnight house fire that broke out just after midnight. You are taking a look at video of the 1100 block of potrero avenue which is in the Mission District. This video comes from josh jacobson. You can hee how see how intense the flames were. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze after froerblt minutes. No one was 40 minutes. No one was hurt. Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire. A judge has agreed with oakland Childrens Hospital in a dispute whether or not to keep jahi mcmath on life support. She suffered serious complications after her tonsils were removed on december 9th and was declared brain dead three days later. Yesterday, a judge ruled that unless an Appeals Court intervenes, the hospital does not have to keep jahi on life support. Beyond next monday, december 30th. We still have her until the 30th. That gives us another week for the chance at a miracle still. Theres still hope there for us. Jahis family still has not decided if they are gog to appeal going to appeal the ruling. They are considering moving her to a longcare facility. Many around the country are freezing waking up to a white and very cold Christmas Morning. A lot of the midwest and the northeast has snow on the ground. This weeks storm has left more than 500,000 people without electricity in michigan, new york and new england. The National Weather service says be aware of big waves and some sneaker waves along the coast between monterey and Sonoma County. Those waves can hit the beach without any warning and cover up land that had been dry just moments before. Outoftown visitors may not know about those dangers. Reporter is this the first time that youve volunteered here . This is the first time weve been able to make it to glide. Were very happy to be here. Hundreds of volunteers will help the Salvation Army in San Francisco deliver warm meals and Holiday Cheer. 3600 meals are gonna be cooked, packaged and then delivered to needy families and Senior Citizens who live alone. At 10 00 this morning, st. Anthony foundation in San Francisco will serve thousands of holiday meals for the needy. Yesterday, volunteers were collecting food and socks and other goods at a curbside dropoff. Football players playing in the 2013 fight hunger bowl, they will be helping to serve about 4,000 meals. Theres controversy over a giftgiving program at san quentin, the accusations being made against a prison. Rise and sunshine, here comes the sun. Only on 2, employees and customers of an oakland Convenience Store say the Justice System has repeatedly failed to protect them from a man they say has a long history of violence and harassment. 42yearold Galen Pittman is accused of aggressive panhandling at the sana market on telegraph avenue for years. The owners say since 2011 when they got a restraining order against him, hes been arrested for violating the order 21 times. Most recently on monday. Dont know what to do anymore. We wish we could do something about it. It seems like they dont want to help or do anything about it. The storeowners say they have Surveillance Video of him harassing customers. Prosecutors say they routinely file charges on restraining order violations but it doesnt seem to be enough. Hes reportedly causing trouble across the street at a church. Pittman right now is in jail on 20,000 bail for violating the restraining order and probation. Theres a new report out this morning that the target cyber attackers managed to get information, more information than they first thought. One Bank Executive says the hackers managed to steal encrypted personal identification numbers from credit and debit cards. Now there are concerns that thieves may be able to break the encrip shin cord codes. Were actuallying hearing that some cvs, walgreens and starbucks are open today. One family yesterday received toys, food and a Christmas Tree. Family members of inmates at san quentin say toys donated for visiting children are being taken away from a prison employee. Every year, toys are collected as they leave the prison room. This year, family members say a prison sergeant decided each child could only receive two twists per visit. They said that rule was not in place in previous years. Family members also say the same sergeant allegedly took toys away from kids.
