We are following breaking news out of downtown oakland. Police are investigating a fatal shooting. Christien kafton is live for us. Reporter let me tell you this is a large crime scene. Its spread out over five blocks here in downtown oakland. Right now Alameda CountyCoroners Office is on scene here just about to load the victim into a van to remove him from this scene. There was a very expensive sports car just about seven or eight minutes ago that expensive sports car was towed out of the area. We have video of what the scene looked like earlier. Police say they responded to the scene around 3 00 this morning and found the dead man in the street with numerous shell casings around him. And there is another scene just about a block away with more shell casings there and a half block away again that very expensive sports car. It looked like ans aton martin vintage. That sports car is certainly part of this investigation. We saw investigators looking over it with flashlight and trying to get a little bit more information about that. As mike said a couple moments ago, this shooting happened when flight clubs were letting out. They have two suspects that sped away. No word on their identity. Again this homicide happening in downtown oakland at about 3 00 this morning just as the clubs were letting out. There is some connection to a very expensive sports car. We will continue to monitor this story and get more details for you throughout the morning. One nor note this is a densely populated area. There is a lot of witnesses in the area. Deputies spent hours at a crash that killed three people. Officers were first called at 812. One car tboned another. A fourth person was take ton the hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle wasnt hurt. The cause of the wreck still under investigation. A woke vehicle crash in oakland left a mini van on its side. The crash trapped a couple of people inside the mini van but firefighters were able to pull them out. Several passengers were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Witnesses say a speeding car couldnt make the turn and slammed into that mini van that briefly stopped. Police say three people jumped out of the suspects car and ran from the scene. Its a story you will only see on 2. A second person in jail in connection to a case of stolen christmas presents in Contra Costa County. Sheriffs deputies arrested a martinez man at his house last night. Acting on a tip Authorities Say they recovered items taken in a couple recent burglaries including one last month at a martinez warehouse. A charity that feeds and gives to the elderly and poor stored donations in that warehouse. What do you think about finding the stuff . I think its awesome. Its not big stuff. Its a few hundred dollars worth of stuff but its still getting the people that are behind us. The first suspect was arrested friday. They stole 60,000 worth of goods from the charity. A prayer vigil is going to be held today far missing oakland woman. Family members say erika was last seen at a store on 34th and telegraph avenues. She lost her husband to cancer last year and may suffer from depression. A 1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to her safe return. The vigil is scheduled at 1 00 this afternoon. There is information about a missing brentwood teen. He has been found safe and in good health. Family members were concerned about his disappearance because he does not speak. There is new information in the shooting of two santa cruz Police Officers. They are allowing four firefighters on scene that day to talk about what happened. 43yearold firefighter clayton ran from the hail of gunfire but shopped to shield a woman who was taking out the trash but tripped and fell. He told the woman to keep calm and stay down. He called it the worst day in his 20 years as an emergency responder. Also in santa cruz the Highway Patrol says it was forced to use a taser on a man in an act of selfdefense. It happened while officers were trying to break up a fight on pacific avenue yesterday morning. One man lunged toward them and they felt threatened. The man was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest. Three others were arrested for fighting in public. A Good Samaritan is being called a hero for helping to save a police officer. Joe says he saw the officer struggling with the suspect and decided to get involved when he saw the man reach for the officers gun. That is when joe said he grabbed the mans hand and slammed it on the ground. Police say his actions likely saved the officers life. I knew i had to do something. Because somebody is going to end up dead here. Cops are not going to be coming home to his wife or children or whatever and i just jumped out and jumped on him. Police say the suspect who was struggling with the officer is a known gang member who had just been spotted trying to break into a car.
