Many people who live in the city have installed their own security. It has helped investigators make burglary arrests. The Surveillance Video will reduce the burglary and robbery rates. On the circumstances where we have more than one residential burglary or or robbery, we would be able to survey the data and look for comalties in the license plate information and use that as a pointer. It has to come down so cal currently there are 25,000 white led lights strung along the cables on the western span of the bay bridge. Those will come down early next year. The estimated cost of restringing new lights meant to last longer would be around 12 million. That keeps the new set up through 2026 and includes maintenance costs. The audit found the state Public Utilities commission over sight is insufficient to insure consumer safety. Auditors are not holding the cpuc some for that fire but the agency lacks effective leadership and slow to respond. Once they begin the investigation on average they are taking 238 days too complete the investigation. The report also said that the cpuc lacks policies and procedures to make sure carriers comply with the law. And when citations are issued they are a lot lower than the law allows. Federal agents spotted the bullet hole during a routine Security Check saturday evening. The bullet passed through a Judges Chamber on the second floor before coming to rest in a jury room wall. Luckily the building was empty at the time but the incident has many people wondering why the Federal Building is not bullet proof. We will look at it and see what security enhancements we with do to the exterior of the building. Investigators do not believe the judge was targeted. They have a rig stationed a little farther up the road here. We are off of polk boulevard. Firefighters are keeping a watchful eye on the place. They dropped hundreds of gallons of water and hand crews marched into the thick vegetation to snuff out flames. Fire Officials Say there is virtually no wind so its suspicious for an ember to fly half a mile and catch another part of the canyon. Whatever the cause neighbors just hope it doesnt happen again. This is a beautiful canyon. We walk through it all the time. I hate to see it go up in flames or take more homes out. Reporter these fires are being investigated as arson but again no official cause. Just last friday a short distance from here two more suspicious fires broke out in the hills. No one was hurt, no homes were burned, but of course there are a lot of homes around here so the potential was high. A little bit later this morning, we hope to receive an update from arson investigators. Back here live you can see there is high voltage power lines that are right above the canyon so that was a concern for crews yesterday. Luckily will was no major damage. Yesterday suspicious fires are alarming for people in the Oakland Hills that survive the 1991 fire storm. 25 people were killed. More than 3,000 homes destroyed back then. Yesterday people who live in the area say as soon as they saw the firefighters and smoke, they began packing up. Many were grabbing scrapbooks and books. Another fire came dangerously close to several homes in antioch. This one started about 7 30 last night. Its about a block away from diablo vista elementary school. No homes were damaged but the flames 60 feet high burned several fences and trees. One person had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
