Officers never found him and the victim was taken to the hospital. He is not a student and his injuries are nonlife threatening. Right near the intersection of stanon and hate street. Both of the victims are homeless. They are expected to survive. Police say both are African American men. Both the suspects here. Now one suspect described as heavy set with dread locks the other wearing a white hooded sweatshirt. And according to the reports, they left the scene in a maroon car. The investigation goes on. One woman i talked to told me she heard three shots but she thought it was people setting off fire works. A man the victim was in his 30s. He was found inside the vehicle. Police are working multiple crime scenes this morning. Last word the victim was in icu. We do not have the suspect description, information. Police are asking for the publics help right now. University police say a 22year old man was beaten last night shortly after 8 30. He was walking with a group of male and female friends when an argument began. Police say the suspect struggled with the victim on the grass between the Martin Luther king Junior Library and the Science Building and started slamming the victims head against the sidewalk repeatedly. The victim was rushed to the hospital with multiple injuries to his face. They are nonlife threatening. The suspect reportedly ran southbound on south fourth street. Students received details about the crime on the come pus Emergency Notification system. This is the second time they have received an alert like this in the last week and a half. There was another assault that happened and a robbery at a different location on campus where the suspects in that case are at large. There is no suspect description that University Police have given us. We are hoping to get more information as the morning goes on to find out what started this argument and if the suspect and the victim knew each other. The Oakland City Council has voted to accept a 2 million federal grant to expand surveillance in the city. The oakland tribune reports they would link dozens of surveillance cameras from all over the city. With data from shot spotter and license plate users and twitter fees. When he was discovered he was suffered from dehydration and kidney failure.
