A fight led to a deadly stabbing. It happened just a couple of blocks away from at t park. Tara moriarty is in San Francisco now to tell us what police are saying about that confrontation. Reporter were standing right underneath interstate 80 at 3rd and perry streets near harrison. You can see this alleyway to the left. We believe the stabbing happened right here. It was some sort of argument that broke out after the game between some giants fans and dodger fans. The victim was transported to the hospital we later died. We understand that his father and brother were with him and were not injured. The victim who was taken to the hospital, we understand that his wound was actually in the upper body but were not sure exactly where. Police have detained three people in the area and they are interviewing witnesses. This is obviously an Ongoing Investigation so well keep you updated throughout the morning. Ktvu channel 2 reporter Claudine Wong joins us from oakland with the red flag warning in effect today for parts of the bay area. Claudine . It is in effect today. It will be in effect through tomorrow and when you get one of these red flags warnings, the Oakland Hills is a place where people are on guard. Take a look behind me. This is one of the reasons the high winds make people so concerned. There are dry brush areas all throughout the hills. When you have the winds picking up, you have people very concerned. Heres what people are doing to prepare. We know homeowners are being told to create Defensible Space around their homes so if there was a fire, there would be a little bit of a fire break and firefighters would have a chance to save their home. Homeowners very aware of that in these hills. Theres also a big focus on the trees and getting the trees down. Anything that might fall down and create a problem. Our crews actually found a tree crew out yesterday that was doing work on an area to get down a dangerous final. Reporter we know firefighters have been out warning folks and pge has assigned 96 crews if and around la and or run today hills [ inaudible ] again, come back out here live. You can see its actually beginning to pick up just agent bit. You can see some movement in the brush along the hills. When we got out here this morning, it was pretty quiet in terms of wind. Its now picked up just within the last hour or so and again we expect things to get even windier, breezy to windy throughout the day and through tomorrow. So certainly something to be aware of. New this morning, pge trying to restore power to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley after a down wire knocked out power during the night. The hospital is returning on generators. Service to patients has not been affected. At one point more than 3,000 homes and businesses had no power. The power has been restored to more than 8800 homes and businesses that lost power during the night in brings bane, daly brisbane, daly city and San Francisco. Theyre investigating whether wind was a factor in those outages. A vigil will be held for a San FranciscoState University student who police say was a victim of a random killing at a muni stop. 20yearold Justin Valdez with us gunned down in the eveningleside neighborhood. Police say a man was seen on muni cameras right before the shooting. The kind of person just continue was, denot deserve what happened to him. The guy deceives to be punished. Justice needs to be served. Valdez grew up in southern california. Friendses say he was a good student, a swimmer and someone who was passionate about the environment. Todays vigil will be held at 7 00 at San Francisco state. Police also plan to release more detail about the case later today. An investigation is under way into a deadly motorcycle crash in San Francisco. At 9 15 last night, officers received a report of an accident on portola drive in the citys twin peaks area. Police tell us here at ktvu news they believe the motorcyclist died after crashing into a parked truck. Officers closed the road as they investigated what happened. Theres no word yet on the persons identity or whether alcohol or speed were factors in the crash. Time 6 07. The chp reminding you drivers drive slow where crews are out there working on roads. After a recent string of crashes along Road Construction sites n. One incident in placerville last week, a chp officer suffered minor injuries. He purposely drove his patrol car in the path of a car that was about to hit a caltrans worker on the side of interstate 80. The chp says 14 other people were hurt in Road Construction areas just this month. So theyre reminding all of us, all drivers slow down, keep your eyes on the road as you approach those cone zones. The Menlo Park City Council approved a request by the City Department to buy four surveillance cameras and three license plate readers. However, the city council says the Police Department cant use the equipment until theres an ordinance in place to address privacy concerns. The surveillance cameras will be mounted in intersections in the bell haven neighborhood where all five of the citys shootings since february have occurred. The Surveillance Programs have come under intense scrutiny since disclosures this spring by former nsa contractor Edward Snowden that the government collects far more internet and telephone data than previously known. New this morning, were learning that divers have spotted human remains near the shipwreck of the costa concordia. San Francisco Police investigating a shooting just a week after two people were shot on the same corner. Police say the victim was shot in the leg last night about 7 00 at the corner of 23rd and arkansas streets. This comes a week after 24year old Jimmy Chandler and a 21 yearold woman were shot on that same corner. Chandler later died a the hospital. The woman is expected to survive. So far police have not made any arrests in either shooting. Postmaster general appears before a Senate Committee today, one day after proposing to raise the price of mailing a letter by 3 cents to 49 cents. The postmaster general will press lawmakers to act quickly on legislation to fix his agency which expects to lose 6 billion this year.
