a thin build. call santa fe state police immediately. and in sonoma county, police are searching for a man who stabbed another outside of the heelsburg community center yesterday afternoon. the 22-year-old gonzalez stabbed a 23-year-old man in the arm following an argument outside of the center. the victim is listed in stable condition and the community center hosts an after-school program, but police say no children were there when this stabbing occurred. and city leaders are considering the controversial idea to break out some schools in walnut creek from the existing mount diablo school district. >> and that was one of the big issues. allie rasmus has more. >> reporter: the walnut creek city council stopped short of declaring the support outright for the idea of breaking away from the unified school district. instead, the resolutions that passed unanimously said that they support the idea of exploring the process of you is seeding from the district -- of seceding from the district. they're a long ways away from becoming a reality. the county board of education has to weigh-in on it and before it can come back to local voters as a ballot initiative. northgate caps is the organization pushing for a split from the school district. according to the website, they were founded by several parents of northgate high school. the students and alums and other walnut creek community members. the schools included in the new district they want to create are northgate high school and its feeder schools. foothill middle school, ban croft, via verde and walnut acres elementary school. they say this is about reactions certing local controls, the unified school district has 32,000 students. schools from clayton to bay point and pleasant hill and martinez. the reporters said the district has gotten too big, but critics of the idea say allowing these five schools to break away sets a bad precedent and that is elitist. they're all high-performing schools in affluent areas. other parents and teachers wither that a smaller district will have resources. >> and -- [ indiscernible ] i see the benefits of putting off having a smaller district and possibly being able to meet the needs more easily. and then also the bigger district, there is a lot of benefits to being a bigger district. >> reporter: mount diablo unified school district is opposed to the idea and this is what their superintendent told us this morning. more. >> more than a threat, we feel it's a major disruption for students and staff. it's divisive in nature and the walnut creek city council weighed-in saying they believe that not everyone who lives in the district who is impacted should, if it ever goes to a vote, vote on this. >> we also reached out to the northgate taps marine county coast. the coast guard is responding to reports of a vessel in distress in the area of muir beach as we look closer from sky fox. it's the smaller boat here that appears to be partially submurmurred in the water and doesn't appear to be upright. key don't have confirmation at this point that anyone is in the water as a result of the bolt -- and the largest vessel coming to the april 20th in golden gate park. thousands are expected to attend. this is the first permitted event since californians voted to legalize the recreational use of marijuana. police and city officials alcohol. as all, there will be no tolerance for visitors who are using 420 as an excuse to damage our parks and our neighborhoods. >> for the first time, the city is partners with a private vendor to resolutions encouraging businesses to create so-called sanctuary work places. -- last night's city council meeting was attended by dozens of workers and supporters. the resolutions sends a message to plan is in place in case more of that hillside gives way. >> and all of the rain this past winter season has forest cruise shutting down a bridge in moraga, the risk of collapsing. the canyon road bridge connects with the community of canyon on roadways and sometimes used by people who commute between moraga and oakland. the bridge sustained damage by a recent land slide. structural engineers person was shot near a bus stop, too. and people took cover in nearby homes and businesses, paralyzed with fear. around the same time and over a mile away, police say a pg&e truck pulled up. a worker inside had been shot, too. he later died. they had just driven through the area of the other shooting. and those walking by heartbroken and stunned. >> and -- . >> die. >> at some point, the accused shooter, thine -year-old corey mohammad, tossed the gun before police caught up with him. >> and lid the really dove on to the ground and was taken into custody and as he was taken into custody, he yelled out ali akhbar. >> the fbi is alerted, homeland security, too. mohammad was on the police's radar wanted for a murder last week. and now, with the charges -- he will face charges for the three killings, too. >> police are searching for a man who accosted an 11-year-old girl while walking to school. this happened monday morning near east catowny avenue, not far from tacoma state. the man got out of the suv and showed the picture, the little girl a picture of a naked woman on the cell phone. the girl ran away and hid behind the parked car. the man drove away in the suv with a bicycle rack on top. and more allegations of sexual harassment by the former dean of ukbly law school. the regents will pay a $1.7 million settlement. a formir assistant of sugi, who resigned as dean last year late last night, san jose city council on a 6-5 vote passed new policies for protecting the rights of lenders. one policy states that landlords have to give a valid reason before evicting a tenant. they want them to list 12 reasons and some argue that many people are being forced out of the homes by greedy landlords and the san jose city council approved new locations for people under the endless act and calls for advanced notice if landlords tear down a rent-controlled building and if handle help for the tenants. and student registration is weeks away here. we're learning there might be a new tied to receiving free tuition at city college. according to the san francisco examiner, the school's interim chancellor wants the free tuition to be tied to academic performance and wants students to maintain a 2.0 grade point average and complete half of the units every semester. the supervisor disagrees and said that san francisco residents should be able to attend city college for free no matter the academic standing and the details need to be finalized before the $5.5 million is dis%ed for the free tuition program. and the city of san francisco is getting a new park. they cut
