above 100 degrees. take a look at some of the highs from this afternoon. brentwood 106. vacaville 105. walnut creek 103, and gilroy 1502 -- 102 degrees. obviously very hot temperatures for the inland neighborhoods once again for today. this is a second day in -- this is the second day in a row. first we'll show you the cool down expected from today in comparison to tomorrow. if you're not a fan of the heat we have good news for you for your monday forecast. take a look at some more highs from this afternoon. 108 degrees in santa rosa. by the way very dry there. relative humidity down to 4%. so single digits, widespread triple digit heat out towards concord, antioch, and livermore. san jose, 97. san francisco not nearly as warm in the upper 70s. now the heat advisory is still in place for a few more hours until 9:00. all the areas shaded in red especially towards the inner east bay and the north bay and the santa cruz mountains. the high fire danger. the red flag warning is still in place until 9:00 this evening. we talked about dry conditions around 5% to 10% and a bit of a breeze in the hills as well with the winds around some gusts up around 15 to 25 miles an hour. as i mentioned some cooling headed our way for your monday forecast. we will talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. >> all right, thank you, mark. we do want to talk about that red flag warning danger that it will continue into the evening with some gusty winds. >> ktvu leigh martinez joins us from the east bay after spending the day with some firefighters. leigh? >> reporter: well the fire crews say we have had about five red flag warnings in the east bay hills since the start of the fire season, which is still fairly young. it's only about two months into it now. but they say right now is when it is really starting to get hot and it's becoming like the peak of the danger season. so when these red flag warnings come out, it really puts a lot of pressure on fire crews. access is everything. when it comes to preventing fires. and saving lives. oakland firefighters took out the gator sunday morning to first rescue an injured runner on the hills. but it's also useful in scouting potential fire dangers. >> what we're driving on is one of our fire trailers. it's a carved out trail that we can take a vehicle like this or the type three engine that we're showing you on the 17. this is very much how we would get into a fire in a remote area like this. >> reporter: especially on a day like today with a red flag warning in the east bay hills. it's important for firefighters to know where all the access trails are. >> there is a whole other world back here that has to be with the regional parks and trails. >> reporter: the red flag warnings would force fires to cancel weekend trainings. and instead put morefirefighters out on neighborhood patrol. they notice the wet winter weather get a late growth spurt. >> they would cut it down. >> reporter: caltrans cut this grass in early june and here it is today. >> so we are actually getting into the most dangerous part of the fire season here. this is probably slated to be cut again in early august. >> reporter: it's dry and can fuel those fires to light up the whole hillside. the top two things you shouldn't do during a red flag warning. >> flicking the cigarette is a big one. i would say that's our number one. right behind that are people operating mowing equipment or machinery equipment and dry brush. this isn't a good day to mow your hillside. >> reporter: don't get complacent. hills that have never burned before are the most dangerous to spread fires. back in 2015 a vote would have put money in the budget for those grass eating goats that they used to have out here. but they said the goats did an excellent job of making sure these tall weeds were cut down throughout the fire season. they don't have them this year. >> all right, leigh martinez in the oakland hills. people hopefully will be careful. especially during the hot weather, thank you. city officials have opened almost a dozen community centers around the city today as cooling centers opened one at 10:00 this afternoon and the crews. it was taken by helicopter to the medical center. officials say seven people were also hurt. the most serious injury was a broken leg. the youngest child was air lifted to ucsf children's hospital in oakland as a precaution because of the baby's age. and now to oakland where a 45-year-old man is in grave condition tonight after being severely beaten. the attack happened just after midnight on grand avenue across from the veterans memorial building. police say a person driving by saw the victim being viciously attacked. when they honked the horn the attacker ran away. the victim
