are nominated. one of the toughest things every year is deciding who you single out. there are so many deserving candidates. they have different candidates. going in as the impact that you've made on the sport and this criteria for a certain number of athletes for a particular sport. there is criteria. as a voter the most difficult thing for me is trimming it down to the five people you vote for. hired an attorney. the same attorney who is representing the man who was dragged off a united flight earlier this month. video shows the distraught mother holding her baby and crying after a male flight attendant apparently took her stroller from our. the attorney says the flight attendant nearly hit one of the children with the stroller. american airlines apologized and has removed the flight attendant from duty. the incident comes two weeks after a 69-year-old man was dragged after a united plane after he was -- refused to move from his seat. a mountain lion inside a home where a small dog was taken. fish and wildlife tested a blood sample at the home and announced today the sample is a positive match for a mountain lion. the homeowner told her she was asleep at three in the morning when she heard her small dog barking. she woke to see an animal grabbed her little dog and run off. she said she had left the back door cracked open for air and that allowed the big cat to come inside. san jose's number one dispatchers were left scrambling over the weekend when the emergency system malfunction. and ruben tells us that callers may have experienced delays or in some cases not complaining that the delays were long, really long. >> it was not working optimally for almost 2 hours yesterday afternoon. >> reporter: it started with the plant utility upgrade. dispatchers knew what was coming and switch to a backup system when that wasn't working properly they switch to a secondary backup. police tweeted to try a different number of callers couldn't get through. the fear that some people didn't. they don't know of any serious consequences right now but that may change as they investigate. they are not sure what caused the problems but they would like answers. >> we take this seriously. this is an opportunity for us to go in there and look at those black boxes and wires and make sure the system is doing what it's supposed to do so that we can take steps as of bystander stopped the kidnapping from happening. new at six a lot to our 6:00, a surveillance video from an armed robbery. they were called to a restaurant on san pablo avenue at 5:40 last night. workers say the robber pulled a gun from his waistband and demanded money from the cash register. the suspect is black about 30 years old, six feet tall with the short beard and wearing dark clothing. police are hoping anyone with more information will give them a call. police have arrested a petaluma man for trying to kidnap a woman saturday night. the man put a bag over the woman's head and try to drag her into his car. the attempt to kidnap her might've gotten away with it if not for a group of bystanders. >> reporter: san francisco police arrest a man who crashed his car after high-speed chp chase. officers believe he is the suspect to tried to kidnap a woman as she was walking home from her work shift in the marina. at 9 pm witnesses say the man who appeared to be in his 40s lace up black bag over the victim's head and dragged her to his car. >> in the 2800 block we had an assault, an attempted kidnapping of a female walking down the sidewalk. >> neighbor stepped in to help. one man was watching the attempted kidnapping unfold he began honking his horn and neighbors ran outside to intervene and ultimately the woman was able to break free and get away. thankfully the actions of these great samaritans the came to the aid of the victim. >> the victim is a 31-year-old woman who did not know her attacker. >> we were shocked that that sort of thing is going on in our neighborhood. >> she lived across the street for the church and was around the corner from where the attempted kidnapping happen. >> we walk around here all the time at night and would never imagine to even worry about this sort of thing. >> investigators put out an alert and were able to track the suspects vehicle. this happened one month after another kidnapping when a good samaritan stepped in suicide he had been acquitted of murder charges in the shooting deaths of two men in 2012. a judge ordered that three suicide notes that hernandez left behind be turned over to his former fianci. authorities refused to share the contents until the investigation was complete. tennessee man who was arrested in northern california for allegedly kidnapping a former's garden made a court expensive it is. new numbers from the federal government show that even as six-figure salary can be considered low income and several bay area counties. >> reporter: san mateo, san francisco and marin counties are some of the most expensive places to live in the nation. a family of four with an income of $105,000 in those counties can be considered low income. in santa clara county it is $84,000 and in alameda, $80,000, napa county, 70,000 and solano county low income is $64,000 for a family of four. >> inflation has been creeping up. >> given the rising cost of housing in our area. >> i work in tech in our rents is low for the market. if our landlady decided to sell or jack up the rent or she died and it went to her heirs, our rent will probably double overnight. >> we bought almost 15 years ago when prices were down. it is a very difficult situation. i hope it gets better. >> last year the threshold for low income across the bay area was on average 6% lower than this year. in 2016 in san mateo, san francisco and marin county, it was $98,000 for a family of four. this year, it is $7000 higher at $105,000. >> that's a lot of money for people to earn to live here. you can't make it with the family of four $105,000. ridiculous. >> that means more families could potentially qualify for housing assistance. it is a troubling reminder that the cost of living and our area continues to rise every year. the median income for a family of four in san francisco is $115,000 which is only $10,000 more which is what now qualifies as low income. let's get another check of the weather. a
