Traffic lights were knocked out for hours and 300 lights were down. Reports came in people stuck in elevators without air conditioning. Those caught in the bart train system had nervous moments. It was pretty chaotic. Very crowded. I have a minor handicap in a bad leg. People were very kind and getting out of the way making room. Thank goodness one of the escalators was working for a change. In the middle of a power outage which was unusual. We were down in the bart station and it went completely dark. People started coming out from down on the platform with their cell phone. At the heart of the outage all Public Schools and hospitals followed emergency protocols. The mayor said it all went according to plan. Not only at our Trauma Center but all of the clinics and hospitals reported in. There were a few surgeries in session and they were able to have their backup generators. A big lesson.
