chambers in the newsroom. thank you. san francisco based uber issued reports on the diversity of the work force. dealing with allegations of sexual harassment from a former engineer and a viral video of its ceo in an argument with an uber driver. the report shows that uber's global work force is 64% male and eight percent of the leadership roles in the company are held by men. in the u.s., 50% of uber employees are white. 31% are asian. the u.s. work force is 9 percent black and six percent latino. they also looked at the makeup of technology workers for uber and found that 15% of them are women. wells fargo announced major settlement over fraudulent accounts. if approved the san francisco bank will pay a total of 110 million-dollars to customers going back to '09. the company paid 185 million- dollars to federal and state authorities. the san francisco based bank has admitted that its employees sets up as many as 2 million accounts without permission from customers. >> now to the latest on that deadly apartment fire in west oakland. about 1:30 this afternoon you could see a small flare-up on san pablo and mead. earlier in the day authorities confirmed four people died in that fire. two of the victims have been identified. they are 64-year-old edward anderson and 50 year-old sa sandra robinson. they don't expect to find anymore victims. the main tenant is a faith- based group offering transitional housing for recovering drug addicts and people that were folly homeless. nearly one hundred people were displaced by the fire. one of the tenants was homeless and alcoholic before finding a room in the building five years ago. the conditions inside were deplorable but it was better than nothing. i lost everything. like my clothes, shoes, tablet. phones. >> have no idea what will happen next for you? >> no, sir. not at all. >> are you worried? >> yes. i don't want to be sleeping under no freeways. >> the city is searching for vacant hotel rooms but there's veriling available and many people may wind up on the streets. >> we have uncovered decades including violations before the deadly fire. candice wynn has been pouring over the information and joins us in the newsroom with what she found. >> julie we have been going over these complaints and talking to people that did a recent walk through of the building. they say there is a history of problems and as you mentioned days before the fatal fire. >> people were running through the building running fire, fire. >> gail says she remembers the heat and screams. >> get out. >> she remembers fire alarms in one part of the building but there were other things from monday that she says aren't clear. >> i didn't remember any sprinklers going off. >> march 27th. consumed the property and killed four people. there were warnings to provide smoke detectors and eliminate all extension cords in lieu of power outlets. 8 fire code violations total. but 2 investigates have found the building has a long history of code complaints issues. the low income residents has been the source of 20 code complaints in the last ten years according to city records. everything from mold, garbage and no hot water. holes in the walls and ceiling. three complaints have violations and 11 have been closed. 7 complaints are currently open. >> some of the rooms people are doubled and tripled up. >> james cook is an attorney representing the r ohas community center that was in the process of being evicted by the building owner. the center has been helping the tenants. many elderly and mentally ill or suffering from substance abuse problems. >> you walked through the entire building a few weeks ago. what did you see. >> exposed wires and water leakage. on the first floor virtually a river. >> any fire alarms and fire sprinklers. >> no alarms or sprinklers. nothing that i remember. basically just a tinderbox. >> people say they should be more protected but community leaders had to step in. >> there should have been fire extinguishers and this tenant bought them. >> not the property own? >> no. >> what does that tell you when someone else has to buy the extinguishers. >> the owner did not care. >> we tried to contact the opener but unsuccessful and wept to the city's inspection department but have not heard back. city records show the owner had a 30-day window to fix those most recent violations. julie. in san jose. two passengers were killed when a greyhound bus hit a barrier on highway 101 on january 19th. it was dark outside and there were rainy conditions. 13 others plus the driver were injured.
