off. when i did accelerate, they shot three more bullets in the back. >> his 11-month old daughter was in the backseat sleeping. fearing she could be hit he switched to the furthest lane but he and his daughter were still a target. >> i heard three shots again when i was trying to get off the freeway. my daughter was in the car, i had to get away. >> the bullets turned out to be from a bee bee gun. >> he didn't want to be on camera, but by sharing his story he's hoping someone will recognize the gray charger. it had tinted windows and a rare decal on the window. >> now i'm more cautious, that's a big wake up call for me. >> the chp says this was an isolated incident not tied to other freeway incidents we've heard about in the east bay. they're urging anyone with information to give them a call. >> thank you. >> now we head to new information about a 71-year-old woman who was shoved to the ground and her purse stolen, it all happened in broad daylight. >> tonight that woman is recovering from severe injuries. >> reporter: relatives are really hoping that someone saw something, or knows something and will come forward with information about these three suspects caught on video during this strong armed robbery. the surveillance video is painful to watch for the family of 71-year-old martha monterosa. she was walking around 11:30 monday morning when three people approach her from behind. two of them go after her purse, they struggle then shove her to the ground. >> we were all completely in tears. the whole family. it was shocking. >> she says her mother had surgery last night to repair a broken jaw. she also has a broken shoulder. >> she will never have full use of that shoulder ever again. it's completely shattered. >> three suspects, one woman and two men arrived and fled in a gold or silver covered car. they were last seen driving northbound. >> i can't believe anyone would ever do something to someone like that, especially an elderly person. we seem to think it was random, just because this never happens here as far as i know. >> she says the attack has left the tight knit community shaken. >> anyone if they know anything, hear anything, just talking about it, just please call the police. >> she is expected to be released from the hospital tomorrow. and we're told her recovery will take several months. >> it's so hard to watch that video. on one hand you get so angry thinking about people taking advantage of a 71-year-old woman. but then when you see the person push her down after they've already taken the purse, no need for that. >> yeah. no need for it whatsoever. the family is very, very upset. they also say she's a very independent woman, she grew up in san francisco and she likes to walk. this is part of her normal route everyday. they're very upset, and they hope someone can come forward. >> let's hope they catch these folks. >> thank you. >> san francisco police say a man was hurt after a thief stole his camera at twin peaks last night. the thief jumped into a waiting car. the victim ran in front of the car to try to stop it. he was hit then taken to the hospital. fortunately his injuries are not considered to be life threatening. the suspects have not been caught. >> a smokey two alarm fire displaced about 20 people in san francisco's china town. crews were called to stockton just before 8:00 this morning. the fire started in the basement which was packed with produce and refrigerators. crews say the heavy smoke and all of the flammable material made it hard to the fight because the fire kept flaring up. >> it's in the basement, it's been running the floors and the walls, because of these small businesses everything is subdivided and compartment lies ed. >> crews say one man suffered smoke inhalation, but left before an ambulance arrived. the red cross is helping the people who have been displaced. >> now to the violent protests earlier this week at cal where some people were attacked. protesters also caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. most of the violence has been blamed on a group who dress in black, cover their faces, and start fires and launched paint balls right into the crowd. who are they? and why use these tactics. henry lee digs into the history of the black block. >> the black block a term use today describe militant protesters who use military black clothing and this isn't the first time they've shown up at a protest. they get a lot of attention because they splinter off from the main group and wreak havoc. even if it means alienating fellow citizens and protesters. school officials say about 150 protesters all dressed in black marched para military style to the protest and became violent. because the agitators inserted themselves among students police said officers acting with restraint even as they were attacked with fireworks and molotov cocktails. on mornings on two bespoke to the berkeley mayor about the hands off approach by police. >> i do think our police did an incredible job under the circumstances to minimize harm to people in the crowd. >> why do you say incredible job, there was $100,000 in damage, fires were being lit, doors were being smashed, atm's were being broken. i don't see why that was an incredible job? >> the destruction of property is completely unacceptable. but i'm just i am happy that more people weren't hurt. and things could have escalated to a level as we've seen in berkeley and in oakland. >> the black block movement has it roots in the huge 1999 world trade protest in seattle. ever since the anarchists violent tactics keep them in the news. this is video from occupy tv in 2011 when they broke windows at this food store in oakland before breaking windows at banks downtown. >> stupid. dumb mother -- [ bleep ] occupy, not destroy. >> more recently protesters lashed out on inauguration day, blasting president trump. their tactics make it challenging for police who prefer not to engage them for fear they'll make things worse. at uc berkeley police say they were focussed on protecting life not property. >> of course this is a way for them to get their message across. but can you imagine the message if the police started fighting back with the same tactics. so i think the police are very smart in their tactic of contain and control. but within that circle of what they're containing, yeah hell is breaking loose. >> henry lee, ktvu, fox2 news. >> now to the latest on the weather moving through the bay area. this is a time lapse from our roof camera. you can see dark clouds and rain throughout the day. what can we expect tonight and for the weekend. let's go to the weather center for the very latest. >> looks like lingering showers into your saturday morning. but a lot more breaks from the action for a a good portion of your weekend. february starting off very productive across california and the bay area. these are two-day rain totals. santa rosa, all over 2 inches of rain. and parts of the bay area picking up over an inch as well. up towards napa 1.33. san francisco a half an inch and those amounts tapering off for san francisco and oakland at .40. here's our live camera looking out towards the bay bridge lights. we still have lots of overcast in place and some scattered showers. you can see on the radar this is the radar loop over the past six hours, and you see the rainfall here in the region and also some snow out in the sierra where they still have a winter storm warning out there. here's the current radar imagery showing you some action still in portions of the north bay. nothing too major, but enough to wet the roadways here, pushing the maps to the central portions of the bay. right now outside of livermore and as we push the maps here closer to the santa cruz mountains and also the santa clara valley. then coming in closer to the south bay as you can see closer to san jose, santa clara still some wet roadways for your friday evening commute for this portion of the region. as i mentioned still talking about some showers for your saturday morning. but then a break for part of your weekend, we'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. >> checking in now on the evening commute, here's a live look from our emeriville camera, as you can see some heavy traffic down there at the mcarthur maize mcarthur maze. >> that's the noncommute direction. you can just kind of see those red taillights on the right where traffic is slow heading into the mcarthur maze. a train collided with a car in san francisco this afternoon injuring one person. it was reported at about 12:30 at intersection of 12 and 16th streets. the person who was injured fortunately only suffered minor injury. >> the city of oakland conducted a city wide test of its emergency sirens today at noon. the 27 sirens were installed to warn residents about an emergency such as a wildfire or chemical spill. in recent years it's been pretty much out of commission. some of the sirens were inoperable, now after months of repairs the city finally tested that system today. we went to oakland's busy grand lake area where many people come to shop or eat out. at pricely noon the alarms sounded. here's what we were able to pick up and how people we met on the street reacted. [ sirens ] ] i didn't hear any sirens at all. no alert system at all. >> what does that tell you? >> it tells us that we need to get a better system. >> when was that? i missed that completely? >> what does that tell you about the big emergency siren system? >> maybe we weren't notified of an emergency. which could be sad news if you needed to be notified. >> there's a lot of sirens around oakland. so i just sort of thought there was an ambulance driving by. >> as you just saw they were hard to hear, we did get a few calls into the newsroom from people living in neighborhoods where it's much quieter, they heard the sirens, but the city noise may drown out the sirens in busier areas. >> still ahead here a san francisco sheriffs deputy under arrest. in minutes the charge that is deputy now faces and why authorities are also investigating her son who is a police officer. but first. >> there's high interest in sundays super bowl with more tickets being sold and more bets being wagered compared to last year. we'll have all the details coming right up. we're southwest, and we have one word for you... yes. ♪ yes to flying further for less. and yes to new international nonstops. that's just one more reason we're the official airline of the "yes" coast. and yes you can now fly to more of your favorite places from right here. that's transfarency. or so for the city which of course is much needed. tickets are still available, but the prices are soaring. while the new england patriots and the atlanta falcons have been hitting the practice field, resting, and preparing for sunday. >> prices are climbing actually. >> the least expensive super bowl li ticket going for around $2,000. the average price this year is now around 4300 bucks. >> they're at about $2,595 the last time i looked which is $400 more expensive than yesterday. >> the number of tickets sold is up about 14% compared to this point last year. >> you're looking at holiday inns 10 miles away that are $1,500 a night. >> meantime security is now tight, and tightened in and around houston. we've learned that in addition to former president george h.w. bush performing sunday's coin toss vice president mike pence will also be in attendance. las vegas bookmakers are reporting extremely high interest in the match up. they now say this is expected to be a record setting year for super bowl wagers. patriots owner bob craft adding to the excitement weighing in on the falcons today. >> they've never won a super bowl, they're a young fast team. it's pretty exciting. >> and i was curious what the most expensive ticket was. the higher end tickets are going for about $75,000. tickets for the world series were about 60 grand. so a little bit more if you're willing to throw down $75,000 i'm sure you can get a great seat. meanwhile kick off 6:30 p.m. eastern time. that's 3:30 in the bay area. and of course you can watch it all right here on fox. frank and julie? >> good gracious, what do you get for $75,000 is that a seat on the 50-yard line. >> the $75,000 ticket i would assume is probably a 50-yard seat. i believe it may come with a hotel room. but i'm not even absolutely certain about that. but people are dropping quite a bit of money. behind me right now is the nfl experience, it's so much fun. you've got kids here, adults, they're looking at some of their favorite tv shows live on some other networks i won't mention. it's a great time for everybody, everyone is truly enjoying themselves. >> i hope that $75,000 buys you a few drinks too. a lot of people are saying they hope this sunday they could take a break from politics. but there's some people saying they've heard lady gaga might try to get some type of political message in during the halftime show. are you hearing anything about that? >> reporter: well julie, everyone is making fun of me for getting to cover this. but keep in mind i lived in skbaz covered the entire 2016 campaign -- in washington and covered the entire 2016 campaign. no one wants a break from politics more than me. but there are said to be some protesters that are quietly organizing and using encrypted messaging to talk to each other and they are planning to protest the super bowl on sunday in regards to president trump's executive order on immigration which a federal judge happened to just come sow and block nationwide. so we'll see what happens, and lady gaga has been out spoken about that as well. so something she may be a little controversial during halftime. we'll see what fox2 this sunday. the kick off is at about 3:30 in the afternoon. and p then afterward it's the premier of 24 legacy, followed by a special edition of ktvu fox2 news. >> and in weather we're we're still talking about rain showers. still some action on the radar up to our north as well. the sierra picking up some snowfall. here's a closer look at the radar coverage. lots of dry pockets as well. looks like we have some of shows showers developing over the east bay hills. and some showers moving out of the livermore valley. but still around towards the altamonte pass. some more coverage right here in the santa cruz mountains and portions of the south bay we'll come closer to san jose, santa clara. still showing scattered rain around 101 as well. we have a break in the rainfall, now into a saturday morning we're going to hold on to some scattered showers, the chance by 12:00 but throughout the afternoon hours on saturday we'll be scaled back on the shower chances. that'll likely last into sunday morning. so the key hud headline saturday night should be dry. then sunday we begin to bump up showers chances. primarily in the north bay in the afternoon hours then after 5:00 we'll increase the rainfall potential in the bay area as another system marchs closer to the region. here we are tomorrow morning, 8:00 showers likely in san francisco, 50 degrees. then by 12:00 the chance of some showers, 57, notice still lots of cloud cover out there. then into the afternoon hours by 3:00 and 4:00, mostly cloudy skies, and temperatures around 60 degrees. but once again we are talking about that other system developing offshore. that will be a factor by sunday night into monday morning. possibly producing some more heavy rain and some strong gusty winds. we'll talk more about that that guy coming up in a few minutes. >> a judge has blocked president trump's controversial travel ban. coming up at 6:30 the action that was taken late today and what it means for the administration. >> first a san francisco sheriffs deputy on the other side of the law tonight. the accusations against this 20-year veteran that she had an intimate relationship with an inmate. a 20-year veteran of the san francisco sheriffs department is now under arrest and potentially facing years behind bars. she's accuse of insurance fraud rick faking a burglary, and having an intimate relationship with a convicted felon while he was in jail. that sheriffs deputy is behind bars herself and in addition to her job she could lose her freedom. >> investigators uncovered an alleged scam and cover up after finding that felon in possession of the deputies gun. >> 52-year-old april myers busted on federal insurance fraud charges. yesterday fbi agents raided her home in the cities little hollywood neighborhood where they believe she staged a burglary about a year agoen along with her son aj and her lover. >> it's alleged she had an inappropriate sexual relationship with kevin fouler in the county jail. >> it was fouler's cell mate that told agents the two had an intimate relationship in jail, planned a vacation in hawaii together and that myers would get fouler a gun when he got out of jail. myers reported a home burglary in march of 2016 claiming her service firearm and a ballistic vest were stolen. she filed a 67 thousand dollars insurance claim, but they told us surveillance cameras caught her loading her car with valuables during the time of the alleged burglary. her firearm was found on fouler during a traffic stop yesterday. >> deputy myers is held to a a higher standard and this is a case of public corruption. >> the behavior described in the allegations against ms. myers falls well below the standard of conduct we and the public expect from peace officers. >> yesterday agents arrested myers at the jail ward at san francisco general hospital where she works. the sheriff said she had been placed on paid administrative leave pending investigation and could face discipline to and including termination. she's looking at a maximum of 7 years in prison. fouler ten years. and they're investigating her other son, a san francisco police officer to see if he
