And here is the radar throughout the day. You probably saw a bit of a break in the action this morning, but then things are ramping up this afternoon in terms of the rainfall and also the thunderstorms out there. We had some lightning strikes across portions of the bay area and some scattered thunderstorms. We still have this, a Flash Flood Watch in place for a good portion of the region until monday 6 00 p. M. Then maybe expiring in a few minutes all the way down to watsonville and also tracking this up in the north bay if you can see right now. The increase is really rising over the past 24 hours. So in general Flood Warning in places impacting places like sebastopol, petaluma. Thankfully the rainfall rates have been backing up. These are all the storm reports across portions of the bay area. Take a look at these symbols out here. This cluster out towards maraga this afternoon reports of some hail and out towards walnut creek likely associated with the same thunderstorm and also they would report with some hail at 2 37 this afternoon. Here is the radar coverage out there and the most intense part of the storm has moved out to the east. But we still have Rain Coverage out there. Still some wet roadways in San Francisco and to south San Francisco. Also extending out towards discovery bay. Back on the maps for the south and thankfully a break in the rainfall right now. They picked up over three inches of rainfall. Right now we still have scattered rain from morgan hill down towards gilroy. Here is the system that well defines the front moving through the bay area last night and the circulation up to our north. We are still talking about some showers near mondays forecast and eventually we do get that break we have been waiting for. We will talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. Thank you, mark. The wind blew a large tree onto a house in heyward. It happened some time overnight on joyce avenue south of the downtown areas. No word yet on how much damage that tree did to the home. The Weekend Storms create add lot of damage in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Ktvu Leigh Martinez checked out the infected areas joining us live. Leigh, what did you find . Reporter well we are standing outside of the San Lorenzo River where we saw quite a few locals come out here to take pictures because they describe the river as raging. Something kind of unusual for them. They say the river is usually pretty calm. Were going to push back there. She said on friday the water level came up so high that it took over this park. If we push in on that fence there, if you see all the debris it looks like possibly from where im standing it is all the debris thats been pushed up onto the fence. That was the water line and how high that came up there. So that is only in this area. They have seen quite a bit of chaotic weather this whole weekend. Some of the clean up efforts are going to take a bit is what were told. Reporter bernie dunna spent sunday afternoon digging ditches to prevent water runningoff to his neighbors below the hill. It is a responsibility of the county. But i mean i come over and i will try to help out as much as i can can. Reporter the landslide occurs every winter. Living up here for several years has prepared him for a lot of different weather. Youve been prepared. I mean okay, we have the generator now. But you know there is always, you know, we have a leak in the roof. When we first built the house, they told us we didnt have to like it, just worry about the risks. Reporter the wind blows them up the roads. Reporter and the wind on saturday night was pretty strong. The windows are going in and out. I mean so theres maybe six by four windows and it blows so hard you feel it. Reporter when the rain comes down, so did a lot of other things. Highway 17 was shut down by two landslides on either side of the highway. One lane was reopened by the afternoon. Multiple trees and landslides also came down. Bear creek road collapsed at two separate locations. Eroded with the land. The San Lorenzo River has widened considerably in the past three days taking trees down with it. Locals say they have not seen it this strong in years. I would like to say its been about ten years. Reporter on friday the rivers would plague the playground, leaving dirt and debris on the basketball court. But landslides are harder to manage than the river. Weve had highway 9 close twice this week already. A car was struck by a tree. Reporter the clean up is taking a little longer with efforts complicated by the rain. Which is why donner says its best he works on the road now. And again with that wind, that took down a lot of trees. We saw one on bear creek road. But also put down a couple of power lines for pg e. The entire Santa Cruz Mountain area is about almost 700 people without power. As for those dangling power lines, they said, you know, the power had been turned off for them and they had crews there right now trying to take care of them. Back to you. Leigh, it is not raining now. Hopefully they would get more of a break to fix things up. Thank you, leigh. The weather may be to blamed for this crash in san jose. It happened just before 2 00 a. M. On southbound 280 over highway 101. Now, just one of the number of spinouts and crashes for the Highway Patrol that was reported across the bay area. A portion of highway 247 will remain closed for the night due to flooding there. Here is what it looked like earlier today, just east of highway 101. And after a night of rain the freeway flooded in the same area that was closed last week. One driver got stuck in deep water and was rescued. But as you can see the car is still out there. The marin highway says there is marsh land on either side of the highway and the levies in the area are overflowing. There is so much water that is going over some of the levies. So right now really what we have to wait for them to do is allow this water to subside a little bit. So we can start pumping and getting some of the water on out of there as long as it is coming over the levies though, we cant do anything. Reporter right now the westbound lanes of highway 37 are closed between lakeville road and highway 101 going east. 37 is closed from 101. The marin Highway Patrol says they will post updates on facebook and twitter. Other roadways in the northbound were shut down today due to the heavy rain overnight. Ktvus allie rasmus reports crews were busy this morning on highways 121 and 12 in sonoma. Reporter we were on highway 121 and 12 in sonoma and it is shut down because of flooding in the roadway. You can see what looks like a virtual river going through the intersection here. And now this is water thats coming from the sonoma creek. Sonoma creek is about 150 yards west of where we are standing. According to some of the residents who live out here, its not uncommon for this intersection to flood and to be like this. In fact just one resident told us this intersection has been closed for at least the last couple of days and it is not the first time this year or winter season, but what is different is the frequency in terms of the numbers it has been closed. It is usually it usually floods about a good 10 to 12 days a year spread out over the months of rain. But this here is probably the worst ive seen. Ive been here for about 30 years. Reporter now in the north bay it was still raining pretty heavily this morning around 7 00. But by 9 00 a. M. The sky has cleared up and we had blue skies with the water at the intersection that did begin to recede a little bit. Nonetheless some of the businesses in the area including a lot of wineries and vineyards, the Larson Family winery is just down this road. What used to be a dirt road, but its a completely covered road. The tasting room is closed today. At caltrans, they say there is no estimated time for reopening this intersection. Highway 121 and 12 just a matter of a question of when the water will recede so it is safe for people to pass through it. In Sonoma Allie Rasmus ktvu fox 2 news.
