They were screaming, let her in, then all the security went over here. I dont understand except they just have had it. Reporter and afterwards we love you bernie reporter sanders himself was out reaffirming his support for Hillary Clinton. I understand better than anybody in this room that there are differences of opinion between us and Hillary Clinton. I got it, believe me. But if anyone thinks that there is not a significant difference between Hillary Clinton and donald trump, you are dead wrong. Reporter now tonight one last chance to make it right. Hillary will speak tonight on a newly renovated stage after an introduction from her daughter chelsea to formally accept her partys nomination. Will you hear her invoke different principles that have guided her throughout her career in particular. Will you hear her talk about how it takes a village, this is a theme from her 1992 book. Reporter its the very moment bay area delegate jenny romer traveled here to say. This is my day. Reporter and despite differences with her cousin and Bernie Sanders delegate, for jenny, history is now just hours away. Since i was nine. Every time i had a birthday wish, it was that a woman would be president. Reporter we keep saying this, but it bears repeating. Keep in mind that california actually has 221 delegates that are pledged to Bernie Sanders. So 30 of our delegation is for him, and that has led to some of these issues. But so far today it has been relativelily quiet. Joining me is senator barbara boxer. Let me ask you about outburst yesterday. Two delegates from california ejected by secret service during the speakers yesterday. How do you think this portrays california across the country . People are talking about it. Well, we do have some people in our delegation who dont seem to want to come together. They seem to want to divide our party. And, you know, we say were strong together, and that means Bernie Sanders working with Hillary Clinton. He made a wonderful speech. Its up to them. If they dont want to come on board, but they should still be respectful. And thats my view. Be respectful. Reporter you think its going to be quiet tonight . Its been quiet so far, as Hillary Clinton takes the stage . Im not focused on the negatives. There are always going to be pox of discontent. But the vast majority of people have come together. And i think hillary, she knows how to deal with it. She said what she wants to say. Shes going to say it. This crowd is going to be i dont know what to say. Kind of through the roof. This has never happened before. We have never in the history of our greatest nation heard a woman give her acceptance speech when she won the nomination of a major party. And for me, all the things running through my mind, the struggles that ive had, the struggles my mother had, the struggles of the sufferragettes, all the way back, and tonight that Glass Ceiling is going to be shattered. If a few people dont like it, its okay. Reporter such a big moment in history. We heard excellent speeches last night. In a way its sort of an embarrassment, these great speeches is last night, setting Hillary Clinton up, and now the path for her is to really do better with those speeches, right . What do you think she needs to do to get the momentum going beyond the convention . I know shes going to do it, because the theme of this convention is were stronger together. And nobody can speak to that better than Hillary Clinton. In all the roles shes played, whether first lady, secretary of state, u. S. Senator, mother, now grandmother, she knows what it is. And i just think its going to be beautiful. Reporter all right, senator barbara boxer. We will watch it with you here tonight. Thank you so much. Let me sent back to oakland. You can hear how much the crowd here is already screaming, and Hillary Clinton tonight is still just more than an hour away. The energy is going through the roof just as the senator said. Let me sent back to you in oakland. And ross i know youve been talk abouting about the possibility, the or actually well get more from ross later on. Let me tell you about. This heres another look at tonights highlights. Hillary clinton of course is the headliner as she accepts the democratic nomination for president. Thats coming up in the 7 00 hour. She will be introduced, as ross mentioned, by her daughter chelsea clinton. Also happening a performance by singer katie perry. Joining us from the newsroom political analyst brian sobel. What do you expect to hear from Hillary Clintons speech tonight, and specifically how do you think she will address the trust issue . Frank, thats going to be the interesting question, does she really come out and hit the trust issue head on by saying, i know a lot of people dont trust me, but heres why you ought to. Thats going to be something to watch tonight. But mainly this is a huge speech because she has to cross beyond the democratic base. She has to go after people who are independent. She has to go after the Bernie Sanders supporters. And you know what else, she has to go after republicans as well. So i expect this to be a rather broad speech that really focuses on her many qualities, at least from her perspective. A lot of business to get to but the stakes are incredibly high. And shes following some incredible speeches from like president obama the night before. Millions of voters welcome her experience, but like weve been talking about they question her character. Can one speech in one night change the issue that she struggles with, the likability factor . No. But its a start. She has to give a really good speech tonight that i believe, as i said is, tackles some of those tough issues, and then from this point forward, she has to continually double back to that question, because as we know, this is whats showing up in all the polling, that her trustworthiness is in question, and people have to feel good about the candidate. This is where against her competition she has to be the person that people want to see as Vice President the united states. And thats her job tonight. Donald trump has criticized the convention. He says the democrats arent talking about, in his opinion, the real world, and in take, theyre not talking about radical islamic terrorism. Are the democrats missing an opportunity here . I mean, lets be honest. There are a lot of people in this country who are very worried about a terrorist attack hear in the united states. Frank, its a great question. And yes, in my view, they are missing an opportunity. A number of News Agencies and outlets, media outlets, have been looking at how often, as an example, the acronym isis has been mentioned at the convention. And for the first two days it was barely mentioned, or not mentioned at all. Yet americans are clearly concerned about security issues, security in the united states, wand theyre seeing in europe and other places. So to pass on this issue, for whatever reason, probably not the best choice, because truch owns that issue. And youve got to go after him on that. Brian, lets talk about some polls. The latest has trump maintaining his lead, even pulling ahead slightly. It appears hes maintaining his convention bounce. That surprising . Yes and no, julie. The convention bounce always lasts a few days. So hes enjoying that. I think after Hillary Clintons speech tonight, she will get a little bit of a buns as well. Then what happens is, after a few days, those numbers will recede back pretty much to where they were before. That at least is the historical thing that happens. And well have to see whether trump maintains that bump as we go forward or whether hillary takes command of the bump. Brian sobel in our newsroom, thank you. Yes, absolutely. And our Convention Coverage continues on ktvu. Com. Thats where our web team will be Live Streaming Hillary Clintons speech tonight in its entirety. Just look for the political section is right on our home page. We are following some breaking news right now out of san francisco.
