paralyzed from the neck down. >> 18-year-old chuck -- jake hobby are was at a party. he dove into a swimming pool and broke his neck. the school's honor and take during tonight's graduation ceremony. is a moment that devastated students. their star athlete was being airlifted off of them -- off the field. >> we graduated high school. the next, everything he has worked for is gone. >> reporter: jake hobby year celebrated the last day of school at a pool party near the school. the 6'4" senior had been named athlete of the year and planned to play football next year at san luis obispo. it took a from the hot tub into the pool. >> i heard some people say he was kind of floating in the water and i heard some people say he looked up and said, i can't swim and he was struggling in the water.>> people were trying to hold his head up and he had blood coming from his head. >> five teenagers pulled him from the water. they were called at 4:30 p.m. to find him with the head trauma. >> he just said, i can't though my legs. i can't move them. >> reporter: his family says he broke his neck. >> he is not going to walk again. we're hopeful that he will have the use of his arms. when i was in students held a vigil at the school for his recovery. several other students waited outside the hospital. the news of his paralysis shocked everyone. >> i've known the dude for so long. since he was a kid to college but all.>> reporter: he faces a long recovery in the hospital. >> they fused parts of his spine and neck in a possibly will go in for another surgery tomorrow depending on the mri results. >> reporter: before he went into surgery, he told his teammates this -- >> he is strong. his head is all there and [ indiscernible ]. >> reporter: his family says it could be another two move to the bay area weekend. and there it is tied. beautiful day. it warmed up and will warm up further as we head into your saturday and sunday. a nice-looking weekend clouds out there right now, there is not much fog to speak of and that is because you see the jet stream streaks are coming down the coast. more of a northerly flow so that cinches up a warming trend. i talked about it earlier saturday and sunday up in the northern hills and the higher elevations and parts out by fairfield and vacaville. which again, it is a low grade warning we aren't seeing 60 mile-per-hour winds. temperatures will be in the upper 80s. the communities -- these are the current temperatures. 70 in san jose and you can see as we look at the forecast models, just a few clouds overhead and you will see temperatures will warm up. not really majorly hot but in the microclimates kind of bailout, -- blend out. you really have three. you have three different temperature ranges but on a hot day, for different temperature ranges. maybe five. high-pressure is going to compress the air and warm it up. the weekend looks good your saturday and sunday look good. evening plans and especially at the coast. the national weather service has issued a red light warning saturday through sunday. most people won't be impacted by this but fairfield, vacaville up into the higher elevations of cimmaron county so these are the forecast highs for tomorrow which are very similar to the forecast highs on sunday. and the five day forecast right there. is a nice-looking bay area weekend ahead and i just
