I love the idea that sacramento is going to have water again. That we have something to keep us cooled off in the summer and alive. But after initially predicting folsom might fill to capacity. Water managers say it wont. They began to release more water in the lower American River to keep the delta downstream from getting too salty. The Water Quality in the delta is defended by that water outflow. Not releasing water, you will have release of salt water. Not clear how long the releases from folsom will continue. For the past two years they continued in the summer. Water managers avoided tapping shasta lake because they needed that water to stay deep and cold. In order to protect endangered salmon on the sacramento river. They are coming up with a temperature Management Plan for shasta and when that plan comes out we will know on any potential impact to folsom.
