Oakland police tell us that it all began at 88th avenue and international with a report of a fight and an apparent assault on the officer. A police chase ended up at 98th and eves before they slammed right into the side of the cement truck. Henry lee is there now. What happened . Youll take a look at this stolen gray Chevrolet Impala still wedged against this area that it all started at 2 16 this afternoon and that there will be a fight about ten blocks west of where im standing at 88th avenue and international boulevard, the report of a fight involving a woman when the oakland officer would arrive on scene that the woman and the suspect apparently in their fight. They ran into the officer with the stolen car. The woman took off and the other officer spotted that Chevrolet Impala and began chasing this vehicle eastbound on eaves avenue. We believe that the vehicle had a red light as it approached eastbound eaves. On the corner of eves and 98th avenue that it is where the collision happened near the cement truck as you can take a look at this truck that obviously that it will be very heavy and they would drag the vehicle by about 50 to 75feet south of the intersection where both vehicles can move up to the station as we would speak to police and a witness about what they saw is what they said. The suspect vehicle was traveling eastbound on the avenue and they would collide with a cement truck that was traveling southbound on 98th avenue. The vehicle was occupied by five females. And they would report the ages of the females from three years old to 32 years old. I heard a car and i couldnt understand if they would keep going and they kept going hitting the fema truck. Preferably right there. Me and my son were right literally at that intersection. I would try to pull them back and he started trying because i almost didnt make it to them as they kept going so it wasnt near us, they would scare us so bad. Reporter the female suspect was driving the vehicle initially pinned in the Chevrolet Impala as we do have at least two children in the car and one as young as three years old that we do not have a condition of any of these five occupants. I do notice that oakland homicide and internal affairs will be on their feet. But again we do not know the condition of the driver, nor the other passengers. Reporter well this point because of the severity of the crash as well as the fact that at least that suspect will be severely injured as a result of the actions involving the oakland police. Any time that they are involved in that incident involving the severity or the death that they will bring in internal affairs. We do know that the woman was taken to the hospital as well as for the people in the car including two of the children. Just a couple miles away from that scene as they are investigate wag appears to be a homicide. That they would surround their home on fresno street off of 73rd. Sky fox was overhead about an hour ago. And from above that we could see what appeared to be a dead body on the porch of that home and that someone was also taken away from the scene by ambulance. And a witness told us that the victim was a woman who may have been caught in that crossfire. So far that there is no indication that this was in any way connected to the chase and crash that henry lee just reported on. In a statement the airline said todays cancellations were to reset their operations after a computer outage yesterday disabled their communication and booking system. Thousands of passengers would remain stranded again today and that getting those customers to the destination wont be easy. 90 of their delta flights were booked full before the Computer Systems went down. We have been taking them out by the planes twice. And that we have been given every excuse in this time. Its a compliment. But what are you going to do about it . Before yesterdays massive outage, delta would have an impressive record going 100 days this year without one canceled flight. In addition to todays 300 cancellations that 3,000 delta flights were delayed. As they have issued a public apology and the airline is offering refund and travel vouchers to customers. There are new developments in the fight against the massive soberanes fire burning in Monterey County north of big sir. It has expanded to more than 104square miles since breaking out three weeks ago. More than 5,000 firefighters plus air tankers and helicopters have been making progress.
